  • Jun 21, 2011: "Life in the oceans is at imminent risk of the worst extinction in millions of years due to threats such as climate change and over-fishing, a study showed. "We now face losing many species and marine ecosystems within a single generation," according to the study by 27 experts. The study said that over-fishing is the easiest to reverse. "Unlike climate change, it can be directly, immediately and effectively tackled by policy change," news.yahoo. com/s/nm/20110621/sc_nm/us_oceans

  • perfect song choice

  • THAT is the best you can do for a debate on whaling?

    Typical...

  • "Japan’s tsunami seems to have succeeded, where years of boycotts and protests & high-seas chases by Western environmentalists had failed, in knocking out a pillar of the nation’s whaling industry. Ayukawahama was one of only four communities in Japan that defiantly carried on whaling and eating whales as a part of the 'local culture', even as the rest of the nation loses interest in whale meat." japanprobe. com/2011/03/25/whaling-town-destroyed-by-tsunami/

  • A coastal whaling base in Miyagi Prefecture of Japan has been destroyed by the powerful tsunami triggered by 3/11/11's massive earthquake, which washed away their whale-processing facility. In Ishinomaki of Ayukawa on southern Oshika, the tsunami of 10 meters high traveled 600 meters inland. They prospered as a whaling base since opening there in 1906. Two of their vessels were scheduled to participate in Japan's research whaling in April. search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110318a7.html

  • Pretty dumb. The oceans are becoming contaminated due to Japan dumping E-waste on an industrial scale into the ocean (garbage of a computer or electronic nature), thinking that's how to make it "disappear". Liquids pollute, but metals release poisons when submerged in water too, particularly salt water. Whale flesh especially absorbs toxins, so the japanese poachers go to Antarctica to hunt now.

That's why the Sea Shepherds throw butyric acid. To make the meat inedible. Eat THAT

  • Looks like the Japanese WANT to consume mercury.

Is this another one of their "traditions"?

    Like maybe suicide?

  • The IWC does allow a certain number of whales to be killed for scientific research but the IWC also declared that particular part of the ocean to be a marine sanctuary for whales. The Japanese use one IWC ruling as an excuse to whale but dispute the other IWC ruling as not binding. They pick and chose the laws they wish to follow. The Sea Shepherds try and prevent the whaling under UN GA RES 37/7: World Charter for Nature (1982) which specifically allows persons or associations to take action.

  • These Japanese ARE like chimpanzees. The whalers anyway. They perform as told in the hopes of being given treats. They have NEVER known morality

  • Where is the GreenPeace fleet to protect the whales? They are january 2011 definitly not in the antarcitc ocean.

  • @MrMarcosettl "The last successful kill was on Feb. 9, according to observers. They report that because of Sea Shepherd efforts, the Japanese ships have only gotten in five or six days of hunting all season."

Reported: Feb. 19, 2011 houseofjapan. com

  • Read Wikileaks article 10TOKYO171.html "Fisheries Agency of Japan Deputy Director General Jun Yamashita said the Government of Japan would come under pressure domestically if SSCS harassment continues to keep Japanese whalers from filling their quota." Jan. 5th 2011

  • How are the Sea Shepherds pirates for keeping within the laws? The whalers are the ones circumventing the laws by saying the whales are for research, and the Shepherds don't use guns! How are the Sea Shepherds racists for cutting illgotten Japanese profit? The Shepherds have to poison it so the Japs can't eat it, wasting their time and expenses of catching it. How are the Sea Shepherds hippies for having compassion? How are the Sea Shepherds "terrorists" for trying to save lives? Terrorists KILL

  • 'i have an idea... Let's make robbery legal so now when somebody robs someone, there's no crime being committed. Hence, less crime.' THAT was the stupid idea behind legalizing the killing of whales... and that's why the proposal FAILED (despite the bribes)

  • Humans don't grow whales and feed them and corral them or "replace" them, so they have no right to go out and "harvest" them. Humans do and may harvest cows, which are in no danger of extinction!

  • 2#- This fact will come to an end, if we do something to help balance earth, and if we are able to accommodate nature`s equilibrium with us.

  • Yes, money is necessary to be alive, but how can we live in such unbalanced environment, in which money itself creates? Honestly, humans are basically a "parasite" to Earth, we mass reproduce, we do not care about the "place"that we live, we simply want more and more money to accommodate our daily life. They say humans will come to an end because of nature, no , we will kill ourself because we didn`t toke care of nature`s treasures. We want and want, until there is no more. This is a basic fact.

  • Whaling is actually a very antiquated way to gain food. It's prehistoric, and as humans, we've evolved and come way beyond it. Are the Japanese stating to the world that they are less than human?

  • @info145 :

You make no intelligent sense whatsoever!

  • @info145

Based on your comment, are you stating to the world you lack the understanding of the term 'culture'?

Whaling for the Japanese, as it is for many other countries, is part of their culture just as robbing and murdering people is part of your culture in the United States of Asshole.

Mind your own fucking business you knob. Go and feed your face with a cow burger and then check out how the cow was processed to end up in your gut.

    Stupid Americunt.

  • Watch the following for all you tree hugging hypocrites who pretends to care about the whales by opposing against the Japanese...

That's what I said to your mum too after I finished with her. Remind her to use ass-cream for the damage I did.

  • @Tocoollikethat

The correct term is 'wounded up,' not 'winded up'. And another great example which demonstrates your level of intelligence is your concept of the term 'argument' if our friendly exchanges thus far is how you describe it. School wasn't your thing hey? And why do I have this feeling your somewhat of a parrot? Those who've afforded themselves the entertainment of following of our string of exchanges would know what I mean. Anyway, picked up any little boys on your way home today?

  • @TheBillyhub Ok first of all, the whole wounded up shit doesn't make a difference to me, and now your trying to sound intelligent, I bet your some 12 year old getting your father to right all this shit you troll. Get a life, oh and about that whole lawyer shit on your page, you wish buddy, you wish. Go back to school

  • @Tocoollikethat

But of course it doesn't make any difference to you; that being in despite of your effort to show greater care in improving your written English (as shown in your response). So good for you, boy. You deserve a smiley stamp.

And yes, I am a lawyer; not that I need to brag. But clearly not something a person of your intelligence could achieve as a career. So run along now and go have a wank little boy; mummy will wash your undies when you're done.

  • Sea-God gives us whales to eat fully.

  • The proof is in the pudding people, stop arguing.

  • with all thats wrong with us humans, whaling is the least of our problems.......

  • @bodypowr but at least we are trying to do something (however small it may be) to try to resolve one of your so called "least of our problems".. So why do you not go on ahead and take care of the so called "bigger problems"... Do not let us stand in your way...... Cheers....

  • that bolooga whale is in captivity>

  • tree huggers!! yall can snack on my hairy nuts

  • os japoneses não entendem, que não devemos matar as baleias, pois eles não tem consciência ecológica. São cruéis...killers

  • Yummy! lols I love whale meat Hehehehe

  • @SinclairCeltics1990 I luv to eat your brains.. But i doubt that there's any in your F@#$%ing empty skull....

  • a whale is a mammal not a fish it breathes air not water and whales dont have gills they have lungs, fish has gills not lungs there's a big difference

  • sea shepherds rule japan sucks

  • Don't be a keyboard warrior, do something really special to help stop this slaughter- DONT BUY JAPANESE PRODUCTS! and pass this message on. Thanks

  • lol, hell no. i want my Nintendo and super Mario. My Sony Playstation/stereo/TV/camera. and a bunch of decent cars as well!

so i think it is better you find another way to make a deference.

  • @kanchogrant Also we should slaughter every Japanese we meet anywhere....

  • If you are against wailing then answer this:

What would you say if someone told you you weren't allowed to eat fish and chips (an example of a traditional British food).

Surely it would be more productive to promote sustainable wailing, rather than banning it compleatly. It is part of their culture.

  • @Trustisaliability are you totally F@#$ing STUPID.... Go get a brain you BRAINLESS TWIT

  • @eddiespotty

Yes because I'm the stupid one, hence it is I who am resorting to childish insults, oh no, thats you.

Maybe if you could come up with some FACTs to counter my viewpoint I would take you seriously, but judging by the maturity of your response, you're just another pot smoking lefty who screams "SAVE THE WHALE!" while eating chicken wings, from chickens who have been cruelly imprisoned their entire lives, never going outside, and were slaughtered for your greed.

  • @Trustisaliability . Whales on the other hand have a long gestation period and usually give birth only every one or two year, to a single calf that requires more than a year of maternal care before it can survive on its own. Even then, whale calves take many years to reach maturity. For these reasons whales can never recover quickly from exploitation. I hope u got that loud and clear in your brainless head.

  • @Trustisaliability I think u r a total FUCK TWIT. Pls read this FACTS to counter u r view point u DUMB F@#K . Whales are mammals, not fish, but they have historically been treated as fish by the whaling industry. The vast majority of fish species reproduce by releasing huge quantities of eggs into the water for fertilisation by the male, although under normal conditions only a small percentage of these will develop into mature adults. Whales on the other hand have a long gestation period.

  • @Trustisaliability You fuck twit try to understand that exploitation of slow-growing populations will naturally lead to their severe depletion and even to their extinction. Economic logic, divorced from the realities of the living world, dictates that high levels of short-term exploitation will bring the best financial return. In other words, sustainable whaling is economically unsound.

  • @eddiespotty

Stop calling me childish names, it doesn't further your argument.

I know that Whales are mammals, but they are still animals. I also know that they do not reproduce as quickly as fish.

What you seem to have overlooked in your rant of spouting facts (which are obviously copied and pasted), is the fact that I am not in support of whaling. Thus it is you who is the "fuck wit/dumb fuck".

  • @eddiespotty

Furthermore, the point which you so "brainlessly" ignored was my pointing out the Hippocratic nature of the argument.

My question to you is are you a vegetarian?

    Do you eat fish?

If the answer is yes to either question then you are no better than those who eat whale. Because meat is meat either way.

Personally I eat meat and fish. I do recognize the scarcity of Whales and therefore would not eat whale meat, but only because they are endangered.

  • @Trustisaliability Yup i recognize the Hippocratic nature of the argument. YOU are the hypocrite here. If you understand that exploitation of slow-growing populations will naturally lead to their severe depletion and even to their extinction, then how can u then still fucking promote sustainable whaling?? Then like a typical hypocrite u say that u dont eat whale meat. But u promote a new twisted sort of whaling?? i.e. U want the endangered animal to be killed under a new fucking guise ??

  • @eddiespotty

The clue is in the name.

    Sustainable.

That means that you don't exhaust your resources, aka the whales.

I support it because it is both sustainable and a part of their culture.

Just like eating pork is a part of my culture.

Yes whales are endangered but when hunted in a SUSTAINABLE way they won't go extinct.

  • @Trustisaliability U dumb fuck .. It seems that you have the attention span lesser than that of a housefly. You seem to forget the beginning of a sentence by the time u reach the end of it. Understand that exploitation of slow-growing populations will naturally lead to their severe depletion and even to? their extinction. Whales usually give birth only every 1 or 2 year, to a single calf that requires more than a year of maternal care before it can survive on its own. Remember d 1st part u TWIT?

  • @eddiespotty

Once again I am left amazed at your ability to spew childish insults.

I agree that whaling in its current form is causing their endangerment AND that it is wrong.

HOWEVER my point is that whale meat is a part of their culture so it would be wrong for us to say no you can't hunt whales at all.

  • Meat of our society eats is bad for the environment AND a lot of the animals are kept in cruel conditions.

Who are we to dictate what kinds of meat the Japanese can and can not eat and how they are allowed to hunt it? That would be completely hypocritical.

However on a global/religious viewpoint I believe it is our duty to look after the animals. (Hence why I eat free range meat/products) This means that we should try to prevent the extinction of these animals.

  • Therefore I support sustainable hunting (putting a limit on the number which can be hunted each year).

I believe that the limit should be lower than it is and that it should be strongly enforced BUT I can not and will not support an outright ban on the hunting of Whales.

  • @Trustisaliability going by what you are saying it would then be wrong for us to say to the cannibals that they can't hunt humans for our meat because it is a part of their culture.

  • @eddiespotty

No because humans have rights, whereas whales are just animals.

  • @Trustisaliability But to use you own words"human meat is a part of their culture so it would be wrong for us to say no you can't hunt humans at all"

  • @eddiespotty

    No civilized culture promotes cannibalism.

The fact is that as humans we eat meat.

The West eats a lot of pork and beef whereas Japan eats a lot of fish (including Whale).

Humans are not meat they have rights whereas whales are just animals.

  • @Trustisaliability by 'civilized culture', you mean people who insist on eating species which are on the brink of extinction...? is that it??

  • @eddiespotty

If they want to eat whale, who are we to stop them?

I agree that the whaling should be limited to stop the extinction of whales but the Japanese won't over hunt anyway because that would not be in their interests.

  • @eddiespotty: You might be surprise to discover, had you afforded yourself the effort to do proper research, that in FACT whales are NOT on the world's list on endangered species, notwithstanding the lies that have been floating about by hippies claiming that they are.

  • @TheBillyhub ... well i guess that .....Tocoollikethat...has given u the answer that u need...ok..

  • @Trustisaliability Are u fucking dumb? first of all humans ARE animals you dumb shit. and second of all how come whales are "just animals" they deserve to live 2 u piece of shit

  • @Tocoollikethat : So I take it that you're a vegetarian?

  • @Tocoollikethat

    Well duh, Humans are mammals.

As for they "deserve to live" so what are the Japanese supposed to eat then, they survive of fish/whale because that is their local produce.

Would you rather they had beef and whale flown in from a round the world, with a massive carbon footprint?

  • @Trustisaliability Well why can't the Japanese adapt to eating other animals? Thousands of animals adapt to eating different foods and living in different climates all the time because of the choices we make, please don't give me the guilt trip. They would do just fine eating different animals, and as for the carbon footprint whaling still leaves a huge footprint, after all the ships need fuel. Anyways all I'm saying here is that they should not be doing what they are doing, plain and simple.

  • @Tocoollikethat : From reading your comments, you come across as an uneducated person whose comments are not clearly support by any means of relevance,

  • @TheBillyhub Your a total tool, where in my comments is anything irrelevant? You call me uneducated when you can't spell for shit and you use a comma at the end of a sentence. Now ask yourself who is really the uneducated person here?

  • @Tocoollikethat: First of all, it's 'YOU'RE' and not 'your'. Second of all, if you lack the intelligence in knowing which that you said is irrelevant, I'm sure sure as hell ain't going to tell you. Go figure it out yourself you fool....

Oh, and here's another ending with a comma, just for you dip-shit,

  • @Tocoollikethat .......well said ...i agree totally...

  • @Tocoollikethat ..cool.. i agree with what u say totally..

  • I like eating whale meat.

It is totally healthy and tasty.

I am against Japan whaling because they take all and any species of whale, but norway and iceland only harvest the over abundant non endangered Minke and North Finn whale.

And for all those who think it is full of poison, that is simply wrong. Not in norway and iceland anyway.

    Save the Whale....for me ! Yummy !

There is nothing like a whale steak with chips, salad and an ice cold beer.

You should try it ! Tasty ! Yummy !

  • hey what have japan discovered about whales ?zip right? i rest my case

  • Some countries hide behind "research" to continue to get around the ban of whaling. Japan is allowed under this ban to kill around 900 per year for research. Japan then has another law that any animal killed for research, the meat must be used. They hide behind these "laws" to cling to a long gone culture and make money in the process. Research whaling to be put to a stop as well. Amazing how no real research is ever done and each whale killed brings in about 250k at market. Interesting?

  • @Starbuc1: And how does that differ to America hinding behind their own lies and to killing thousands of their people eg 911 to start wars around the world to this very day? Is war and killing people humane? Whether you like it or not, it is still the LAW which authorised not the Japanese but also a NUMBER of OTHER countries to whale. And what right do you have or know about the Japanese culture or state their culture is 'lone gone'?

  • @Starbuc1:

Check this out. You'll enjoy it:

    /watch?v=fjSlOOYIkCE&feature=related

  • I'm all for everyone speaking ur mind, but be for real... some of these comments left on these comment boards are so ridiculous... especially when it comes to serious things like whaling... for example, andreslerea, you are an ignorant fool, every animal on this planet is put here for a reason... they all balance everything out in nature, so if we humans kill them all, we eventually are killing ourselves... Personally, I believe whaling should come to a complete end... for good... Stop Whaling!!

  • Vidgamer, do you think the entire human race will die because of lack of meat if we stop whaling?

  • Comment removed

  • Recently a doctor from the Faroe Islands did extensive research on whale meat (pilot whales) and came to the conclusions that it is unfit for human consumption because of extreme high intoxication of the ocean (should make people stop but no!!)

  • dude humans eat meat whales are meat hmmm

    lets do that math

killing whales = FOOD need food to live

most animals on earth eat meat ur dumbasses

  • what ever happened to every other fricken animal on the face of the planet that we eat, whale meat has actually been proven toxic to humans, every animal is here for a reason

  • okay, so, if every animal is here for a reason, can you tell why humans are here ??

  • but not if u have others to eat like pigs. and it turns out most japanese people do NOT eat whale meat and selling whale meat in America is BANNED. WHALING WAS BANNED IN 1986 and the japs are violating a law. they must be punished. and the mercury in the meat is TOXIC. u will die from the meat. many japanese innocents are dying from the whale meat so they avoid it but fear to speak against it. so in other words, we're killing the whales and NOT eating it. so we should just STOP!

  • whale hunting should never ever spot they should kill every whale in the face of this earth \m/ (||.-) \m/

  • Great Video!

Whaling must come to an end

    TOGETHER WE CAN STOP WHALING
