Meat of our society eats is bad for the environment AND a lot of the animals are kept in cruel conditions.
Who are we to dictate what kinds of meat the Japanese can and can not eat and how they are allowed to hunt it? That would be completely hypocritical.
However on a global/religious viewpoint I believe it is our duty to look after the animals. (Hence why I eat free range meat/products) This means that we should try to prevent the extinction of these animals.
Therefore I support sustainable hunting (putting a limit on the number which can be hunted each year).
I believe that the limit should be lower than it is and that it should be strongly enforced BUT I can not and will not support an outright ban on the hunting of Whales.

The vast majority of fish species reproduce by releasing huge quantities of eggs into the water for fertilisation by the male, although under normal conditions only a small percentage of these will develop into mature adults. Whales on the other hand have a long gestation period.

Meat of our society eats is bad for the environment AND a lot of the animals are kept in cruel conditions.
Who are we to dictate what kinds of meat the Japanese can and can not eat and how they are allowed to hunt it? That would be completely hypocritical.
However on a global/religious viewpoint I believe it is our duty to look after the animals. (Hence why I eat free range meat/products) This means that we should try to prevent the extinction of these animals.

It is totally healthy and tasty.
I am against Japan whaling because they take all and any species of whale, but norway and iceland only harvest the over abundant non endangered Minke and North Finn whale.

Some countries hide behind "research" to continue to get around the ban of whaling. Japan is allowed under this ban to kill around 900 per year for research. Japan then has another law that any animal killed for research, the meat must be used. They hide behind these "laws" to cling to a long gone culture and make money in the process. Research whaling to be put to a stop as well. Amazing how no real research is ever done and each whale killed brings in about 250k at market. Interesting?

Recently a doctor from the Faroe Islands did extensive research on whale meat (pilot whales) and came to the conclusions that it is unfit for human consumption because of extreme high intoxication of the ocean (should make people stop but no!!)
