I have a Yamaha 62II, My fav. is ( Mark 6) great horn. i have just a c* and play on vandoren 2 1/2. i suggest a peter ponzel alto sax mouthpeice size 5 and alezander superial Reeds.
I lately bought a gold-plated mouthpiece(from the brand "Brancher")and now my jazzy songs sound better(even though I have some difficulties to keep the tone at the same height). You may try it, although you're playing better than me. And what reed are you playing with?
Hey Riley, I play the alto too, a Mark 7. I play a lot of Charlie Parker too,but I memorize the stuff and suggest you do the same because as soon as you lose that dependancy on the sheet music you play a lot more confidently. Right now it seems like that's maybe what you could use more of, confidence, and your tone will improve a lot more too. Keep it up.
Yeh i agree with what you are saying. I have been working on memorising the music just recently. My music teacher said pretty much what you said, that it would improve my tone etc. Unfortunately i had to use the sheet music for that performance because i had to learn it in a very short time frame! thanks again for the encouragement....
this is charles solo!!!!
it is very good but i think you can improvize and make your own solo

thanks for the comment! I am using just the standard yanigisawa mouth piece that came with the sax. The reeds that I was using was a vandoren jazz.
