  • Yes, it only takes up to 2GB Ram. However i got to say it is very fast, i run Windows 7 Ultimate and this little notebook handles it perfectly. Performance is really good, i use photoshop on it and it handles that very well too

  • @Superutubeking dude i just got ultimate on mine omg and it is fast !!!!!

  • so its only compatible with a 2gb ram no 4gb??

  • can I change processor to my compac mini 110???

  • im use DDR3 1333/2GB....for my mini hp 110...i dont know about this...DDR3 OR DDR2..anyone know what the function...what better?

  • Thanks so much for this tutorial! My netbook has been struggling with programs since I got it, and my memory chip arrived today - now just have to install it! I mean, really, they should ship them with 2gbs, but what can you do. (Clearly, you can upgrade the memory once you've already got one :p)

  • bla bla bla bla

  • Thank you for those who responded to my questions. I will upgrade mine. Nice video.

  • mmm i have one of these, can i uprade the video card?? i want to play crysis on my compaq mini

  • @infinitumpatata use an alienware x11

  • Hi Guys any know where i can get a harddrive for a compaq mini my one need replacing

  • Hi Guys any know where i can get a harddrive for a compaq mini

  • Hi Guys any know where i can get a harddrive for a compaq mini

  • Which one would be a better buy for the newest HP mini netbook 110 series?

    G.SKILL 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) or Rendition by Crucial 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

  • @JakeDaSnakeInc DDR2 800 should be faster than DDR2 533. I doubt you'd notice a difference between the two in a netbook but I'd go w/ the 800. I've never owned any Crucial memory but it seems to have a good reputation. Hope that helps.

  • @steimel9 A HP employee told me both could work. When it doesn't matter, I would go for the 6400 version.

HP has 6400 installed by default too, so downgrading wouldn't be adviced.

  • I bought CQ10-500ev and its about the same as the mini 110 but it doesnt have the under thing for ram upgrade , i know i can open it to upgrade it but it will no more be warranted and if i make a mistake bb 300 euros :P

  • and one more question. what it the best or compatible external hard drive for this? thank you

  • @weirdomiggy I'd imagine that any external USB hard drive is compatible with this netbook, so really it's just a matter of finding a good external hard drive. I'd go to NewEgg dot com and read some reviews, you'll find something good.

  • what will happen if you replace the 1 GB ram to 2 GB ram? no sarcastic answers please. im just asking because i really dont know

  • @weirdomiggy Makes it faster , at booting , at videos at practically everything!

  • @weirdomiggy Your general performance will be improved. Programs load faster, you can run more programs simultaneously.

  • @weirdomiggy better multitasking,more compatible software+faster loading times

    hopes this helps :)

  • Hp mini 110 is the same with compaq mini 110 , right?

  • thanks a lot for the video!!

  • jesus shut up and show us how to do it, other wise title the video "my opinions on crap, also how to replace RAM in a netbook"

  • i need to reboot mine to! do you konw wherer to download the backup files?

  • how do i restore my netbook please help meee

  • thanks for the video :)

  • hey mr. steime is there a such thing as an battery add on? like a 9 hour battery in which you can switch out with the 2 hour battery?

  • @reaper83001 As far as I know there is a 3 cell battery (standard) and a 6 cell battery upgrade. The mini in the video shows the upgraded 6 cell battery which sticks out from the bottom of the laptop a bit ( @ 40 seconds ). Depending on what you're using the mini for some claim you can get 5-6 hours out of the 6-cell battery. The battery sticking out of the bottom doesn't bother me at all, it actually makes a better angle to type on I think.

  • @steimel9 oh ok , thats great becaues i use my netbook for work/school and it needs longer power so all i need to do is call hp?

  • Where do you buy ram?

  • @TWIZLERZ If I'm buying online I normally get it from newegg dot com - if I need it right now I'll drive to Fry's

  • You ever stopped to think if someones looking this up and trying to replace ram that they already know

WHAT A FUCKING NETBOOK HAS IN RAM!?!?!

  • great vid. i bought mine for 170 with 2gb ram preinstalled :D

  • i bought mine for $180 from best buy on black Friday

  • i bought mine for $

180 from best buy on black Friday

  • cool video but you could have picked up the pace a little bit , im sure that even the ppl that r new a ti this flet it was a bit slow at times but very explicit

  • Good video showing the locking tabs of the ram clips and how to open and close them which alot of videos dont step by step.

  • will any type of ram chip work or do i need a certain size?

  • is there any way to upgrade from 1,6 ghz to 1,8 so i can play the most of the games if yes plz ansewer or better make a tutorial about it thanks

  • read much lol

  • I got the same note shown in the demonstration here, and I wanna upgrade my PROCESSOR from Intel Atom to INtel core i7......

Can I do it and Can you make a video if it please.......

  • @Abidu96 ur an idiot

  • what frys did u go to i went to the one in concord.

  • Thanks for the vid. I just upgraded my mini with a 2GB Kingston and I can certainly see a difference in the system's speed.

  • i have the hp mino 110-1155ev can be upgraded to 2gb?

cause the HP says max 1gb .

    plz help :)

  • im interested in buying this laptop, the --Asus - Eee PC Netbook with Intel® Atom™ Processor - Black---if you serch that in bestbuy's website you should see the one i am talking about, would this be a good netbook to buy? ive nver bought a netbook before and idk

  • Mine Is a HP mini 110-1100 Netbook sold with Windows 7 Starter edition, How much RAM will it support? Will it support more than 2GB or is 2GB all I can load in because ideally I would like 3GB

  • @tompom44 I don't believe you'll be able to put 3Gb of ram into that machine. For everyone who asks "Does X amount of RAM fit in XYZ machine?" just go to crucial(dot)com and try their "Computer Memory Advisor" tool - it's always given me pretty good information on what ram will fit and what ships stock, you don't have to buy the memory from them but from what I heard it's not bad memory.

  • @tompom44 To answer your question more directly it supports 2Gb and I recommend upgrading to that :)

  • @steimel9 What's the max battery on it? I'm in matter of fact using mine i got. 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive Windows XP. I'm going to upgrade the RAM of course. I got a 12 cell battery for it and was wondering how much more battery can i get. What's the graphics card on it capable of too? I heard it has 384MB graphics memory but not sure of it's 3-D capabilities. I have a GMA 3150 graphics card.

  • its a compaq mini laptop! :( for me i have the older version

  • @MrHardystore You are correct, it's definitely the Compaq version - I thought there was no difference at the time since they are the same company but I was wrong.

  • Can that 6 cell battery fold into the netbook or is it fixed in that position?

  • @JonFifa09 The extended battery is physically twice as large as the standard battery - it hangs out of the bottom of the netbook at all times.

I was worried about this at first, but honestly I don't even notice it now - it's even kind of nice because it elevates the typing surface a bit. I'm much happier w/ 5-6 hours battery life instead of 2-3 hours. This thing is most often used on the couch or in bed so not having to plug it in as often is nice.

  • I upgraded my HP mini last night to the 800/6400 stick. Great upgrade. Took less than a minute to install.

  • steimel9 , hi, thank you so very much for posting this video, I went to Frys like you said and got the ddr2 2gb pc6400 and plugged it into my slow hp mini 110 and now I feel it is running much faster, thanks a tonne

  • @nageshkota1968 Good deal, I'm glad that it worked out for you and that you noticed a performance increase. I definitely noticed mine running more smoothly after the upgrade.

  • thanks but will this work with an msi netbook? i have already found where he RAM is but i dont know which RAM stick it will need so if anyone has any answers please reply

  • @jimbobobb97 You have several options here...

    1) Check the documentation that came with your netbook, it will probably list at least the type of RAM provided, if not the compatible types.

    2) Since you've already located the stick, remove it and take it to your local computer shop or Fry's or whatever... an employee can get you a compatible 2Gb stick.

    3) Google the manufacturer and model number of your netbook + "compatible ram"

    Hope that helps!

  • does it use the same hard disk/ hard drive as a regular size laptop ???

  • @MrViictor6 This version is available with a 160Gb hard disk drive (HDD), which I believe is a typical laptop hard drive. The version shown in the video uses a 16Gb solid state drive (SSD).

  • Hey I have hp mini but i want to upgrade to a 2gigs of ram and i was wondering can you replace the old 1 gig with any other 2gigs of ram. Would there be any compatibility issues. thanks

  • @alfredoconsalsa For the netbook shown in this video you need one of the following 2 types of RAM:

    200 pin 2Gb DDR2 800 / PC2 6400 SO-DIMM

    200 pin 2Gb DDR2 667 / PC2 5300 SO-DIMM

I'd recommend the 800/6400 stick since it runs faster. If you are concerned about compatibility you can always remove the stick from your hp mini and take it to a local computer repair shop / Fry's / etc. and ask for a 2Gb replacement...

  • Thank you! Bestbuy wanted to charge me $50 to do this... i KNEW it couldn't be some HUGE difficult process so I decided to see and do it myself... saved bout 2 trips to the pump worth of money! your video was amazing help. i got the kingston so it's all good! 'preciate it!

  • Hi. Thanks for this video. Very informative. I'd like to upgrade my netbook too. It's a Samsung N140. I've found a so dimm 800MHz stick. Do you think I can use that instead of the ordenary 667MHz stick? Is it any better? Is it faster, or just the same?

  • @tenayo66 An 800Mhz stick is faster than a 667Mhz stick, though I'm not sure if it would be noticeable. I'd be more concerned w/ the RAM manufacturer and compatibility.

I typically buy Kingston or Corsair RAM.

I looked up your laptop on crucial(dot)com - which has a nice database of machines and supported memory - and it says 2Gb of PC26400 (800Mhz).

  • Ok. Thanks. I probably go with kingston 800MHz, If I decide to upgrade . I must try my 1 GB ram a little while longer first and then we'll see how it goes.

These 10" netbooks are just amazing. Perfect size.

  • Hey, I'll be getting this netbook from HP. It runs windows 7. Do you think it would be worth it it upgrading to 2GB ram? Thank you.

  • @mokmoj We've got two different full size laptops running Win7 - each with 4GB of ram.

Others have stated here that they run Win7 fine on 1GB... I noticed a nice performance increase when I went from 1GB to 2GB in XP.

I've never run 7 on less than 4GB, and based on the minimum system requirements listed by Microsoft and the fact that it will cost you only $50, I'd say it's probably worth it to upgrade - especially if you're going to be multitasking. Browser only it might make no difference.

  • no benefit in xp upgrading to 2gb ,waste of money, need w7

  • @mapleleaf11 I wouldn't recommend running Win7 on 2Gb of ram, and I certainly wouldn't recommend running it on this HP Mini.

We got a Win7 laptop recently w/ 4Gb ram, dual core pentium - I wouldn't want to run it on anything less.

XP Pro min ram required: 128 Mb

    Win7 min ram required: 1Gb (32 bit) or 2Gb (64 bit)

I saw a noticeable performance increase running XP after replacing the 1Gb of generic ram w/ 2Gb of quality ram.

  • @steimel9

    Should'nt matter.

I'm running hp mini 110 with windows 7 home premium. It's running perfectly with no delays.

  • hp mini's are now being made with win7 included... I just bought the hpmini1126nr and it runs fine with win7 starter... i upgraded to home premium and its working out excellent for me.

However im defiantly upgrading the ram to 2gb to get the most outa my mini...

  • Hey, I'm running Windows 7 on my HP Mini 110 with only 1 gig of ram, and it runs like a dream.

  • @cairnage123 ME TOO. JUST 1GB IN MY HPMINI PINK AND I HAVE WIN7 HOME PREMIUM

  • @steimel9 Uggh - just re-read this - I meant to say I wouldn't recommend running Win7 on *1Gb* of ram. 1GB meets the min requirements and I'm sure it will run - but I normally build machines to be well above minimum requirements. 2Gb probably runs Win7 just fine.

  • @steimel9 agreed. It's not terribly slow with 1GB of ram but I still notice some hiccups.

  • Thank you very much for the model name on the chip. I'm doing this this afternoon

  • awesome I'm gonna do this soon to my netbook

  • That's the compaq mini. Is it the same as the hp mini though. THe reason I ask is at the store near where I live they have both the hp mini and the compaq mini but the compaq mini is 30$ cheaper

  • @mikee286

You are correct, this is a HP Compaq Mini 110 rather than an HP Mini 100. I didn't really shop for this sine Verizon just gave it to me, but your best bet is probably to compare the specs of each product and determine what you really need out of a netbook.

The $30 difference in price may represent a built-in 3G card, or a Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video accelerator which should provide smoother playback of "HD" video.

  • @mikee286

It might be more helpful for me to describe my experience with my HP Compaq Mini 110.

I definitely recommend upgrading ram (2Gb) and battery (6 cell). Sometimes response to input lags a bit - probably the processor - but this has been much better since upgrading the ram.

I use this mostly for reading websites, but it can view high quality youtube content smoothly at normal size but becomes choppy in full screen. Facebook should be fine too.

Depends what you need. I guess.
