heaven.... phantasia..... all in one.... Sofronitzky often does open a window to another world.... a better one, with lots of happiness , beauty, kindness, and that all in a well structured space. sometimes a cathedral, sometimes different..... not easy to discribe absolute beauty..... there weren t many musicians like him on earth and at the same time so much detached from earth....
This is quite unique recording released not too long ago. I don't have date (will check out), but probably late 50s - early 60s. It was recorded at Scriabin Museum in Moscow. Old and out of tune piano, primitive recording equipment... but at least we have a 2nd movement! The old and well known recording didn't include the 2nd mvmnt.
The only recording of the Andante I knew so far is the Gosteleradiofond/Pipeline Music one, January 1st, 1960 - that one? It's a beauty, but yes, doesn't include the 2nd movement.
If God can't please everyone, Sofronitsky does: no dislikes.

Thanks so much as always! This sounds like an early studio recording, do you know when it was recorded?

Yes, I think it's 1960 and reproduced on many LPs and CDs (1st movement only). Actually I posted it too.

Released not to long ago in what form? It's starting to grow on me, you see... :-)

Scriabin Museum produced several CDs (about 6 or 7) in 90s. Pavel Lobanov was in charge of this project. I'm not even sure that it was completed.

Perfectly balanced, poised performance. Huge and powerful when called upon (3:59). Spellbinding, too
