  • thats a deep pool

  • First inspection class remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) with full freedom of movement in six dimensions. I guess you never heard of the seaowl from sutec

  • @HKAKH Perhaps "first and only modern inspection class remotely-operated vehicle with full freedom of movement in six dimensions" would be more accurate.

  • How much does you it ?

  • @rentebox The band's webpage is backwater.nu.

  • @rentebox The song is Horizon by Backwater

  • I can assure you that its not hard to manage the tether on such ROV. After some hours working with a ROV like this, you have the skills to both maneuvre the vehice and manage the tether with ease. Thats what I have done, so I talk with experience, not with my believes.

  • I`ve been flying this Rov for over 100 hours :)

  • Very impressive control and agility.

  • great manouevreability, but I can't imagine the difficulties managing the tether on a ROV like this. Good for inpsections... not much else, and lets someone post some working video.

  • There is an actual ship hull inspection at the end of the video, taken by one V8 Sii watching another.

  • Great manouevreability in tight quarters, but to manage the tether in actual operations will be a nightmare. Watch the tether in background... how twisted it gets.

  • Under normal operation there is no need to roll it around like that, unless it is used to open a valve, etc. Most commonly it is useful to pitch or roll it between zero and 60 degrees and back. For example, to quickly scan an area with a sonar it is optimal to pitch the vehicle about 15 degrees and move forward.

  • I can't see how umbilical management would be a nightmare unless you go loopy and spin the sub all over the place. Something you would not be doing in normal ops.

  • Nice ROV

  • How can it work so agilely?

    What is the secret principle?

  • The vehicle is inherently unstable, with the center of gravity in the middle instead of at the bottom. Eight thrusters controlled by sophisticated software generate artificial stability, but in any position.

  • Agile!

    What a innovative design!

  • Absolutely amazing manouevreability! very interesting video :)

  • excellent vehicle!!!!
