A quicker method I found is in the same area. Collect surrounding studs (so you don't end up collecting them in your last run), and then just let the guards keep killing you. Best place to stand is at the top of the ramp (just to the right of the key you have to turn) so when you die all the studs fall downwards meaning you won't end up picking up a whole load again. It's interesting that he chose that specific location, since the origin of the name come from when they catch Jack in that same location after rescuing Elizebeth, and find that all he has is a wooden sword, one-shot gun, and a broken compass, in whih Norrington remarks "I have got to be the worst pirate I have ever heard of!". Jack's reply of "But you HAVE heard of me?" to be the best part of that whole scene!

when you need to roll the second barrel into the catch thingy there are some metallic things next to it. blown it up and in that area you find a fish, sausage and a sword.

You can also die over by the under-water hill at the area you're drowning yourself. That way your studs rolls away, and you won't pick them up.

what I suggest is playing it on a new game, that way you don't have so many studs to get rid of. I have 15,087,937,610. So that would take me a couple of years to do. Hope that helps someone.

@labodorlover - You don't have to get rid of all your studs in total, just the ones you earn in this level. I played it through again on freeplay and just drowned myself until I lost all of what I collected.

Just don't kill enemies , and at the end let them kill you few times :)

You can also get this trophy in mulitplayer mode with another player just kill each other to get your studs down to zero.
