@silviucercel me too, only on the 20th in Belgrade. He kicks ass, such a charming, cool guy. His voice hasn't changed one bit since Boys and Girls..Bette Noire and the lot. The king of cool.
Yes, I agree that this is one of his best ever! So atmospheric. You get lost in it. Really, it could go on forever....Seeing him next month. Cannot wait!
The lyric "Obscured by clouds" has to be a reference to Pink Floyd's album of the same name....plus David Gilmour plays guitar on this track....so yeah got the reference Bryan! yeah!
You're totally wrong , his last 3 albumns did well in the charts. After the hype and press accolade he must have been very dissapointed. The truth is the people that would have bought this cd ,are crushed by economics and are skint. cd's are not on their priority list . I hope someone can convey this to him.
Totally agree with you I dont understand why he has done this , perhaps other people feel the same , the sales of the cd probably reflect this. However I still think this is fantastic
@fletcherc1 I don't think CD sales have much to say one way or another these days. Ferry hasn't been a charting success in a VERY long time now. Bit late in the day for him or his management to be following charts.
I think they'd make their business decisions regarding the entire back catalogue. Which this album would certainly fortify.
Anyway, gorgeous song. I don't mind the sonic treatments, although some of the voice overlays are a bit Mamouna-era and a bit much.
@w0mblemania ooh, Mamouna is Fantastic !! I think that "Voice overlays" and voices that diffuses on the background are characteristics of Bryan Ferry's style. They add a sense of ... space? If one could visualize Bryan Ferry's work provably it would looks as if in 3-D
I LOVE this album! However, I'm a little bit confused as all previous BF albums have always placed his voice front and center. It's obvious that he sings as well as he ever has, but the production on this one puts the (beautiful) music ahead of his lush vocals. Is there a reason for this?
I once introduced a boyfriend to his music and his first comment was that you can hear and appreciate every word Ferry sings. Here there are times you have to strain to hear what he's saying. Love it anyway.
Why must you shed such tender tears In the evening of your years No other love could stem the tide Of the loneliness I hide Open your heart and let me live All the promises I could give The sun and moon and all the stars They bow down to you whenever you pass In a world of fading sadness An emerald ring, a photograph That look in your eyes the brush of your cheek These are the moments in life that I seek....... poignant lyrics. A lovely song. Thank you.
The extra guitarists on this track are Merlin Ferry & Phil Manzanera and the ones troughout the album are Nile Rodgers & Oliver Thompson and David Gilmour appears on Song To The Siren & Me Oh My...two wonderful songs!
Definitely one of his best songs ever, very sensual. Beautyful melody and harmony between piano and different guitars as in Roxy's best years. Style reminds songs as "stronger through the years", but also a recent one as "a fool for love".
Can't get enough of it....I'm listening to it over and over again... IMO this not only the best song on Olympia, but one of Ferry's gretest songs ever
As for me, I always wanna know who's the author of the vid. If some words about were placed in the description, I'd be soooo much thankful for this :)
Too much Kate Moss and not enough Bryan Ferry......gorgeous song though!!! Going to see them man with Roxy in February when he is on his Australian tour.
This is perfekt music!

@Caligulita He's not getting any younger, and the voice isn't getting better. He's definitely in to the "stylistic" phase of his career, necessarily.
