Excellent video, thank you. The hardest part of this project was getting the right side fairings off. The exhaust was a little tricky but that back rear fairing was hellacious. Everything else was super easy and the results were great. The bike is smoother and faster, no more damn clicking when i turn the key and now the freaking red light is gone. One thing to clarify that confused me in your video was what to do with the # 30 wire. I think you said to pull it out of the connector but i just e
... for my bike's fuel economy. Suggesting that removing this [useless] device has no apparent effect on fuel economy, and if it does, any change +/- is negligible. As far as "smoothness", my bike seems to run better with a more responsive top end, but as I said the motor in my SET valve was bad and not opening the valve fully. In my opinion, the cost and hassle of replacing the SET is not worth it compared to removing it; especially if you ever plan to get an aftermarket exhaust.
For what it's worth - since removing the SET valve from the 2006(thus fixing the very obnoxious ticking sound the bad servo was making), I've refueled my bike twice from empty. I meticulously keep track of all fuel and maintenance on my vehicles. The first tank was 44.2 miles per gallon, the second was 38.7mpg. The least mpg I've gotten in 13 fillups was 35.52; the maximum was 51.06. My average fuel economy is 41.48, so both of the post-removal results are within an acceptable tolerance ...

Dude need to ask u a question ??? My F1 light was on when I bought my gixxer 750 k6 and it had the stock exhaust the light was coming on and off and then I replace the exhaust for a shorty slip on akra very nice BTW ! Well the light is always on now well my question is does the F1 light comes on because of the set valve only ! If I take the set valve off would it come off ?? Please answer my question asap it would help a lot !!!!
Please email me back with a response make of this video. My email is inomal@gmail.com
How did u get the actuator to stay in the correct position to remove cables. When I turn the key it opens then when I shut the key it goes back.
Any suggestions? I want to install a full exhaust and I quess I need to remove those cables because there won't be any valve on it. Please help waiting for your help.
I will be trying this tomorrow Ive had the FI light problem from 2months after i got my bike brand new..... now it shuts off when I stop at lights ect so I hope this fixes all the problems
@tlafntn On my gsxr 1000 k4.the f1 fault comes up as c46,this is the value actuator in the exhaust, under the back seat is a six prong plug with a rubber dust cap on,remove the cap and put a piece of wire across the black with thin white line wire and the white with thin red line wire, this will bring up a fault code on your display unit where the f1 used to be,the bike needs to be running with the f1 fault on.....then google the fault code.....ie.....( k4 gsxr 1000 f1 fault code)...good luck :o)
@garylouch I did this last night but I was talking on my forum on gixxer.com about it also and one guy showed his whole down pipe and exhaust was cooked because the flapper itself burnt off and jammed closed so no air would go through so I would like to add people should do as I did and drill out the 2 screws holding the flapper in the manifold with a 8/32 drill bit and pull the flapper valve out all together so there is no chance of it jamming once or if the spring giveaway that holds it open.
the valve automatic position once you take the cables off is wide open so you don't have to take your exhaust off to do it.. just disconnect the cable and the valve will be wide open... didn't even have to take off my right side farrings...
did it last night and that stupid light is finally gone.. it was actually really easy and the camera helps you spot out exactly where everything is... was a little worried about cutting the wire but after i did it was smooth sailing.. took the tank the whole way off and it made it really easy... took about 25 mins to do it all.. thanks great vid..
Done this to my bike this morning worked a treat! Thanks for uploading the part that took the longest was cutting the number 30 wire I must of counted to it and from it up to 34 about 100 times to make sure it was the write wire to cut lol no more red warning like and f1 code = WiN !
I'm sure the set valve is open as default when you take the cables of don't think you need to turn the key I'll be attempting this tomorrow after watching a few videos on this. Still a bit unsure as the cutting the wire on pin 30 tho lol
ive taken off the exhaust, removed the SET, & wire from Pin 30. I did it in the same steps as in this video except i couldnt see that good last night & unplugged the wire from Pin 29 instead of Pin 30, well the bike wouldnt start, today i found i had unplugged Pin 29 so i plugged it back in & took Pin 30 out...the bike still wont start up! has anyone else had this happen when trying to do this? what to do now?
I just wanted to thank @goosedizzel .. I finally removed my k6 600 set valve, from my bike I have owned since 2006.. I had a f1 light for the past 4 years and its finally off.. I think I messed up my set valve during the install of my alarm. It has completely solved my jerky throttle and everything has smoothed out.. Thank you so much!
For anyone with the k6 the wire is black with brown stripe and green dots..
thanks for the up load the servo motor froze up on me last season and ive been wanting to get rid of that fi code ever since. i have to admit i was a little nervous cutting that wire but all is well. thanks again
i kno I'm late to the party, but I have a 07 gsxr with a Leo Vince slip on n yes my f1 is on so with the help of this great video will/would this solve my probelm??
I understand the process but I'm still left with the same question after watching this video and reading several forums. How do I know for sure that that the SET valve is fully open without taking my exhaust off? I see people just remove it like you have done and yet they don't mention anything about knowing the position of the valve. Do I need to physically move it to the right position? Or do I need to do something with turning the bike on and off at the right time to make sure it's open...?
Great video guy. I did this on my K7 600. Noticed top end gains. I was wondering If pulling that wire disables the FI completely or just for the SET valve. If something is wrong with my motor will it still come on?
@GixxinStars My video is for a 07 GSXR 600. I don't know what the other wires would be on other models. Obviously the color of the wires are different. Looks like your going to have to do your own research.
Does anyone know by cutting this wire will it make it where just only FI light won't come on or will it effect other as in like the light want come on if something else is wrong with the bike??
k so i have a k6 gsxr 600. had a two brothers shorty pipe on it but i just switced back to stock because i didnt feel like spending money on a PC yet. woul removing the set valve semi solve the problem with my two bros pipe? problem being throttle response is shitty.
oh yeah and what exactly are the pros and cons of removing the set valve. i heard it makes your bike drink gas like crazy...
@Duyer18 You don't have to get A Power Comander, You can actually remap the stock ECM on Suzuki's. And yes if you do the set valve delete it will give you sharper throttle response. I have the same year and HAD the same pipe. I recently upgraded to an Akra hex shorty. I don't have a power commander either, i had my stock ECM remapped.
This is for those who want more throtle response and more flow, i just did this my bike the other day and it works amazing no joke its the real deal. Okay so make sure u disconect your Battery and your ECU then take all the set valve cables appart etc... MAKE SURE YOU CUT PIN # 30 BLACK BROWN GREEN... im going to put a yosh r-55 full system and PC III on my k7 gsxr 600. will i need to remove the set valve and all the other hardware involved with the set valve when installing this exhaust?
Haven't got it yet, just wondering incase i need to find someone with some more knowledge on the subject to help me perform the install. How has the removal performed for you?
A good instructional video to whoever wants to install new exhaust. The valve synchronizes with the throttle but not totally close when it idles. This may be true that it reduces noise emission. It also helps with the engine breaking. On my bike, there is one wire being disconnected without removing the set valve cables and it gives a "SUDDEN KICK" when takes off at 2nd gear but not noticeable as I'm used into it now. I am looking to putting it back since to date at 79K kms bike is stock setting
nice video :) if i buy a full system for example akrapovic, will that set valve thingy be removed then? and all i have to then is unplug that black guy?
Hello, thanks for taking the time to share such a detailed video and help other people.
I would add that it is always best to disconnect the negative battery cable when working with the electrical system, especially on EFI vehicles. It is possible to damage some sensitive electronics (expensive!) if some wires or connectors get crossed or "short-out" somehow.
did u leave the valve?, I´m wondering how to do it on my 750 8k but I´m wondering how to set the valve as he did, I have leaved the key on and k.switch too, but my valve never opens full like his did, how do u manage to not get the FI light on after modified you header?
Ah...advice...humm...well watch my install videos before you do it yourself and that will save you some headaches. No you will not have to cut the cat. The whole cat piece of shit is going to get removed anyways.
even if you cut the cat, how are you going to weld the pipes, they are to close to the sensor, i have an 09 but seems to be complicated, tell me if you have done it yet?
hey will this remove the FI light that keeps coming on every now and then cause someone told me its cause of the two brothers exhaust that i put on any suggestions
good vid everything done right but you need to read up on your bike lingo. lol . that gyro thinger is a servo and the red warning light thing is the fi light.
Hello, nice vid, have you ever had an FI error on your display for installing an aftermarket exhaust?? I just did have that, I replaced my factory pipe for a Yoshimura TRS Carbon bolt-on, my bike is gsxr750 k5. Do you know if this is normal for these models?? Thanks
Thanks a lot for the effort put into throwing this video out. I was starting to tear into mine to throw the Full Yosh TRC on and was like WTF?!? -Thanks again bro!
Yes it did. If you just get a slip on exhaust then you will have to remove the set valve. If you get a full system exhaust then your new headers will replace your oem headers and the set valve will be removed fully.
I have a 2006 gixxer 1000 and i was wondering, it it still pin 30 on the wire that you are supposed to cut? is it still black with brown stripe? or is it different?
Thanks for the Video I can confirm that once the cables are removed the SET valve it is open.
Check with your manual to disconect the wire as i did. I can also tell you that the bike runs better and it gained 2hp.

I used other method (kill switch when full open, then disconnect 2 plugs (servor motor), then pulled out #30 wire to get rid of the FI light).
But I would like to test with SET valve again. I thought I could reverse the operations but it doesn't work!
I re-pluged the 2 servo connectors => the valve never moves.
I re-pluged the #30 wire inside the CDI plug => still nothing, no valve, and not even FI light!
I own 600 & 750 07 and it's the same for both
Any idea to reactivate my SET valve ?? Thanks

Your vids are very helpful. I will get this exhaust in a few days and will install it on my gsxr k8. Do you have any advise? I will cut of the cat.
khanhdang1980 2 years ago
Ah...advice...humm...well watch my install videos before you do it yourself and that will save you some headaches. No you will not have to cut the cat. The whole cat piece of shit is going to get removed anyways.
goosedizzel 2 years ago
even if you cut the cat, how are you going to weld the pipes, they are to close to the sensor, i have an 09 but seems to be complicated, tell me if you have done it yet?

Hello, nice vid, have you ever had an FI error on your display for installing an aftermarket exhaust?? I just did have that, I replaced my factory pipe for a Yoshimura TRS Carbon bolt-on, my bike is gsxr750 k5. Do you know if this is normal for these models?? Thanks

Thanks i was wanting to do that it was alot easier then you showed tho once you take the cables off the valve it goes to the open postion and stays..

Yeah haha.
goosedizzel 2 years ago
does this really make any difference? did it make any diff for you? i was gonna get a yoshi this summer i have to take it out anyway right?
sketty20 2 years ago
Yes it did. If you just get a slip on exhaust then you will have to remove the set valve. If you get a full system exhaust then your new headers will replace your oem headers and the set valve will be removed fully.

jeickholt17 3 years ago
Probably the same but I would still do some research to confirm.
goosedizzel 3 years ago
