I would be surprised if we didn't have to ask the same question after 16 years from this conference, today. We will ask the same questions, or children of this girl will ask the same question from the same generation this girl represents in another couple of years. I doubt if this same girl does something today reflecting her own words told in 1992. In fact there are small sale initiatives. But major response will be seen once earth becomes an obsolete place.

The girl brings a message, and all you do is questions her ways?, weather she raise the money or not and so on. Listen to your argument, really, you seem to be more childist than this kid speaking. It says that some kids care, should'nt you care as well?
I googled her - she is an environmental activist with a B. Sc. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Yale University who is now doing graduate work in Vancouver. "She has spoken around the world about environmental issues, urging listeners to define their values, act with the future in mind, and take individual responsibility" (wikipedia)
if only the leaders would listen to these moving words... if adults actually put their words and deeds into action, the world would not be in the mess we are in now!
btw, how did she go there ? with her bike or with a polluting airplane ? With the bike you need no money and is environment friendly... why did she raise money for ... ? Oh yeah ... against pollution...

We can´t change the world as individuals, but our dayly acts surely can make a tinny improvent to this critical situation where we are. Think about it, and act local, but think global, and the most important thing: spread it.
This girl speaks with so much truth and heart, she brought tears to my eyes. All she says have been what I too have been upset about since I was a child, and I am now 54 yrs old. Finally some one found the true curage to speak the truth with such heart.A no adult could 0f said it as well and true as this girl. A STAND UP APPLAUSE TO THIS CHILD !
