  • steffi graf is a tremondous tennis player... and ultimately, history will show her as the greatest female tennis star- to date.

Its not her fault some pyscho decided to attack monica seles... and whether seles would have fulfilled her promise is irrelevant. Facts are facts. Terribly sad for seles, yes... but don't try and destroy graf. Its simply not fair..

  • if this german psychopath did not stabb her she would be undoubtedly the best female tennis player of all time. She had 8 GS titles and got stabbed when she was 20-21. This stabbing changed her totaly she could no longer take the preassure and psychological effects of stabbing stuntted her career. This monster should be in jail for the rest of his life. Sick fuck.

  • @Ouija121085

What proof do you have that the stabbing changed her more than her dad being diagnosed with cancer in summer of 1993 and dying from it in 1998?

I mean except your rabid Graf hate?

  • @Hoffenheim08 What? are you fucking insane? she got fucking stabbed in the back by a fucking german psychopath while resting in between breaks. It mentally destoryed her. How can you even doubt this you fucking asshole. Specially in any professional sport where mentally person needs to be 100% focused. Everytime she came out on court she was thinking what if someone stabs me again. That faggot taht stabbed her should get his fucking head cut off.

  • @Ouija121085

No, her dad being diagnosed with cancer in 1993 and dying from it in 1998 had a far bigger impact than this minor stab wound.

I think that is evident. Would have been the same with every decent person.

Funny that those Selesian morons can't accept this ...

  • Still remember as if yesterday, sitting on my mother's lap & hear her gasp when she was stabbed. Being from a cricket crazy nation I started watching Tennis, because of Monica seles. I totally agree that her progress was astonishing like none others. Loved her game. Was a 10 year old kid back then. In my book you are the ace Monica.Lots of love

  • Steffi had 11 Grand Slams prior to Monica being stabbed and given she had beaten Seles 6-0, 6-1 in Monica's only Wimbledon final in 1992 it is safe to say she would have 14 as she won 3 Wimbledon titles afterwards, you can debate how many of the other 8 she would have won had this not happened, she didn't ask/want etc this to happen, its a shame that her legacy is being tarnished by something she had no control over.

  • he was mentally ill, fuckin' neo-nazis german cunt, he fuckin' destroyed the career of probably would-have-been one of the greatest woman tennis players of all time, and Stefanie Graf, who was literally "owned" by seles, got all the glory. I wish there actually was something like a source code, I would have fucked him before he fucked her up. Feel so sorry for her.

  • @sdlfjlsdkf

He was no neo-nazi, you dummy.

And Steffi was not "owned" by Seles, quite the contrary. Steffi won 3 of 5 matches against #1 Seles pre-stabbing. With the two closest matches being the two which were won by Seles. And don't forget - that were the years when Steffi played below her usual average (proof being her many losses to Sabatini/Novotna types).

So why not check the facts before you embarrass yourself publicly in an internet forum?

  • @Hoffenheim08 @Hoffenheim08 'K, so I may be wrong on the details. That does not justify the fact that you're fellow countryman committed a foul crime, thank god he had not stabbed her in the spine, which would've paralyzed her. Again, you may retort that I may be "wrong" with the details, that he had intentionally stabbed her so she may suffer a few years of recovery. Either way or another, it never ever justifies the action! Why would I be embarrassed about that??

  • @sdlfjlsdkf

It is quite interesting how important it is for many people that the attacker was a German.

We are a little bit racist here, aren't we?

  • @Hoffenheim08 No we just noticed that germans from their history tended to have many psychopaths in their ranks... that is all.

  • @Ouija121085

Historically wrong. There are other parts of Europe with a far bigger percentage of psychopaths in their ranks. Just have a look to where Seles came from - former Yugoslavia. Even the German Nazi SS were appalled about the brutalities people there were able to commit against each other during WW2. Could be see in the 90s again in the Bosnian and Kosovo wars.

  • She got stabbed by a German fan of Steffi Graff. The man was unhappy she beat Graff a few times and that is why the man stabbed her. I believe he was mentally ill.

  • @ejbreti

    Who the hell is "Graff"?

  • Stupid idiot

  • who the kunt that stab her AND WHYYY

  • it was 93 and she was serbian so obviously it was due to racial conflicts going on during the war

  • @bosnianpro15

    lol

  • Does anyone know why the man stabbed her?

  • WHY THE FUCK WOULD SOMEONE WANT TO STAB A TENNIS PLAYER?

....what is this world I live in......

  • boob grabbing @ 0:01

  • @Matroos0611 - i was so sad after watched this vid but dude u just made my eve...hahahahaaa

  • Comment removed

  • what happened?

  • HOFFENHEIM08 = STABBER OF MONICA SELES!!!! no fucking shit!

  • @Yeaitsmeyurmom

    Indeed, I don't do that.

Do you fuck shit??? Ewww ...

  • and why was she stabbed?

  • @hamedishere Ask Hoffenheim08.

  • @hamedishere Attacker was a deluded Steffi Graf fan, who would do anything to help her win.

  • she was stabbed? why didnt i see any blood? :S

  • Where did she get stabbed ?????Can Someone tell me

  • @starryskychic in the tournament hamburg germany in 1993.

  • @whfan007 was it in the back or the neck area.. I couldnt tell

  • @starryskychic the back... here's a pic: images.mylot.com/userImages/images/postphotos/440739.jpg

  • @whfan007 where can i find this pic?

  • @whfan007 why did it happen?

  • @xbox360charlie I think the boke had a thing for her rival - Martina Hingis - and Seles was verging on #1 at the time and in his twisted eyes he thought he was doing Hingis a favour. Mental

  • @starryskychic who knows ?

    it was her destiny

  • its a shame seles couldnt come back to the same level, we couldve had a rivalry of 10 or 11yrs like evert-navrativova...seles-graf was ended after 3yrs...does anyone know why the bloke that stabbed her never went to prison..???.

  • Monica Seles was attacked when she was in her prime form and she was unstoppable at that time. She was much more talented than Steffi Graf and she was defeating Graf very easily before this attack.

I really feel sorry for Monica. She was never really able to make a comeback after the injury. She would have been the best player of all times. I still love Monica Seles.....

  • @sagarutekar plz show me when monica easily beat steffi to my recollection graf won more matches against seles .Seles was just fortunate to win som very close grand slam final s, ,and how she was more talented when graf when she couldnt do a lot of things graf did like win Wimbledon like win a grand slam and a olympic gold medel . just before the stabbing Graf was catching seles in the rankings at a alarming rate ,Seles only had a 20 pt lead it was only a matter of time before graf was no 1

  • @dwaynebuddha

Graf won eight of nine majors before Seles won her first. Seles surpassed Graf as the No. 1 player in 1991, and won seven of eight grand slam titles during the period of 1991–1993. Steffi will never be No.1 again." Graf in the end did recapture the No. 1 ranking from Seles in June 1993, after Seles was forced out of the sport due to her stabbing.

  • @dwaynebuddha

Monica Seles became the youngest-ever French Open singles titlist at the age of 16 years, 6 months

  • @dwaynebuddha From January 1991 through February 1993, Seles won 22 titles and reached 33 finals out of the 34 tournaments she played. She compiled a 159–12 win-loss record (92.9% winning percentage), including a 55–1 win-loss record in Grand Slam tournaments. In the broader context of her first four years on the circuit (1989–1992), Seles had a win-loss record of 231–25 (90.2% winning percentage) and collected 30 titles.

  • @sagarutekar

Yes, from January 1991 through February 1993 Seles compiled a 92.9 winning percentage.

But won only 40 % of her matches against Graf in that time frame.

Same Graf who compiled a 93.8 winning percentage.

    From January 1987 through December 1996 ...

  • @dwaynebuddha

If Monica were not stabbed she would have gone to become the greatest player of all times....

  • @dwaynebuddha

Monica was still at an early stage of her career when she got stabbed! She was just 20!

And then here we are not discussing about whether or not she could win Wimbledon, we are talking about Monica as a better Tennis player than Graf!

Graf was just fortunate that Monica could not play for three years!

you asked me for stats, I gave you the stats!

  • @sagarutekar

Seles could not play for three MONTHS at most.

But she decided to skip tennis for almost two YEARS after that.

  • @Hoffenheim08 How old are you?

  • @cemil957

    37.

    Why?

  • @Hoffenheim08 Maybe you're right that she couldn't play because of injury three months max.But i can't resist to ask you-have you ever heard of word TRAUMA(i gess you must at least once somwhere somethimes since you are 37)?She was very young GIRL who wanted to play tennis, everything was going pretty good and in one moment she recived iron in her back.I don't know if she would be better than Graf in the end if there was no stabbing..we'll never know. But man can you forgive her for being stabbed?

  • @cemil957

I wonder why Selesian almost never mention Karolyi Seles being diagnosed with cancer in summer 1993 (from which he died in 1998).

Not so easy to denigrate Graf with that, isn't it?

Sorry, I don't like it how Seles and her fans milked this stabbing incident. How many books has Seles written in the meantime?

    Two? Three?

  • @Hoffenheim08 Man,are you in some institution or what?!Think about some stronger medicine..I'm asking you again:can you forgive her for being stabed?

  • @cemil957

Why should we forgive her, dickhead?

  • @Hoffenheim08 I wouldn't be supprised that you know this maniac who watches tennis with knife in his pocket.Post me the contact and i will appolgize to him in Monica's name.I really cant't belive it,you are talking about this like some child stoled candy from store.GIRL TENNIS KNIFE WOUND,is there any potencial in your head to understand that there is something wrong with this four words in one sentence.

    Best wishes.

  • @cemil957

Er, was Seles the first person on this planet who suffered a small stab wound?

(small = just half an inch deep, needed just one stitch to close)

Maybe the first who didn't go to the office for more than two years after that (she was a rich kid and could afford it) ...

  • @Hoffenheim08 Looks like you have "half of inch deep" mistake in your head.No help for you my friend.I give up..

  • @sagarutekar

There are many player who peaked in their teens. Austin, Jaeger, Majoli, Hingis, Sabatini, Sharapova come to mind. Even Venus won most of her slams at age 20/21.

Everybody knows that Seles had eating disorder problems even pre-stabbing.

  • @sagarutekar

Monica at her best was still far inferior than Graf at her best.

Don't forget that Seles ALWAYS had a losing record against Steffi. Be it before she became #1, be it when she was #1, be it when she wasn't #1 anymore.

Seles never ever beat Graf indoors, on grass, or on fast hardcourt. Only on very, very slow courts (clay, AO hardcourt).

  • @Meade3763 i believe grass is the slowest court is it not?

  • @Meade3763 Monica Seles was superior to Graf, this was a fact and she was just beggining her career and had 8 gran slams to her name. After the stabbing she coudn't cope psychologically and was never the same player.

  • @Ouija121085

Graf played well below her average in 1991/92. Proof are her many losses to players she beat before and after (Sabatini, Novotna, Navratilova etc.).

Nevertheless she beat Seles in 3 of 4 matches in 1991/92.

And led Seles 6-4 H2H and 11-8 in slams. No superiority for Seles.

  • @Hoffenheim08 before stabbing Seles had a 92.5% winnin streak. This was not repeated by no female tennis player ever since. She was 20 years old and had 8GS to her name. IF that monster did not stab her she would be the greatest female tennis player of all time bar none. She could easily have played for 10 more years and would at least get 10 more GS.

  • @Ouija121085

Stefanie Maria Graf won 740 of 791 matches in eleven years (1986-96).

    That is 93.6 %.

So I don't know what you are talking about, idiot.

  • @Hoffenheim08 go fuckyourself retard

  • @Ouija121085

Why should I do this when fucking losers like you is far more fun?

  • @Hoffenheim08 the only thing you ever fucked was your dads asshole...

  • @Hoffenheim08 Her best career score is 900–115 (88.7%). So imbecile learn your fucking facts you stupid kraut!

  • @Ouija121085

Career-wise Seles is far inferior. Never had the 92.5 winning percentage. Maybe in your retarded Selesian parallel universe?

Only in her two best years ever (1991 and 1992) Seles had a 92.5 and 93.3 winning percentage.Graf was at 93.6 % in an ELEVEN year period (1986-96). With all her ups and downs.

So an average Graf was better than peak Seles ever was. Facts dont lie, son ...

  • @sagarutekar

Seles defeating Steffi "very easily before the attack"?

In you wet dreams ... ?

  • I give it a like not for the video itself but for the description...

  • @drtofuu thats what ur supposed to do dumbass

  • @tcoom76 I love you the same brother.

  • @drtofuu u 2 cutie

  • Graf should not have been the G.O.A.T, Monica Seles is still the best in history in my book

  • @trickmastermonkey

    With no Wimbledon win?

With a losing record as a #1 player against her main opponent?

With the worst result ever in a slam final for a #1 player (Wimbledon 1992)?

With two losses as a #1 player to a 15-year-old Capriati?

With several losses as a #1 player to a 33/36-year-old Navratilova?

    Don't be an idiot ...

  • Monica Seles IS a great tennis player because she overcame her issues and continued being a major success. So people should stop making excuses FOR her and just be happy for her success and not whine about what could have been....

  • @desirewu I really wish nobody ever attack you with knife..you idiot..

  • @cemil957 Real mature.

  • @desirewu Beside you are incredibly bright,i see that you are the king of irony too.Your mama must be so proud.Bravooo..

  • In my view, successful people are not more lucky or born with more brains, they just don't waste time making excuses for themselves. There would have never been the iPod, iPhone and all that late on success if Steve Jobs stayed home crying after being fired by Apple all those years ago. If Muhammad Ali stayed home crying after the goverment took away his boxing license would he still be one of the greatest boxers of all time? No. He overcame those hurdles, and so did all great men/women.

  • EVERYONE has problems. Almost all great sportsmen or sportswomen had issues to cope with. Try to name one important historic figure that didn't have tons of personal problems to overcome, but they are successful exactly because they stay focused on the goal and succeed despite of all that extra weight. It is so easy to feel sorry for Monica and blame Graf, but to stay at the top one has to overcome those obstacles, or did everyone really think successful people have a rainbow everyday...

  • Ask Graf and her father about this, so strange that this happened in Germany. Some nazi methods never got out of the germans....

  • @andydufresne87

    You're a fucking moron

  • @andydufresne87

You really think the Nazis would have let Seles off the hook so easily?

  • Im sure whoever did that its because he place a bet on Monica's oponent

  • @mrsoftbody yea thats why their career h2h is 10-5 Graf

  • i want to see her actually get knifed.

  • I don't understand it - I read in Wikipedia that there were tributes and song about this, but in the same time the wound was just 1.5 cm deep - and later she was recuperating???? C'mon... It's nothing.

  • @TheSodomGomor Getting stabbed is still traumatic, man. Go ask somebody to sneak up on you at some random time and see how you fare. I don't think you'd deal with that any better than she did. I wouldn't.

  • @uofm97

Have you ever heard that someone who suffered a stab would comparable to Seles's wasn't able to go to work for more than two years?

    No?

    Thought so ...

  • @Hoffenheim08 Her situation was different. You're surrounded by thousands of people and you're supposed to be able to know that you're SAFE. I wouldn't trust the security in place at any venue after something like that happened either. It was more psychological than physical. Didn't you even WATCH the video? She said the wound itself healed in a a few weeks, but she couldn't bear the thought of going out to play and somebody manages to KILL her the next time.

  • @uofm97

    Which "security"?

When I play tennis in my local club there is no security either.

I do know that Seles wouldn't reveal her medical records to the court where Parche was on trial.

    That's all I need to know ...

  • @Hoffenheim08 Local clubs are different, aren't they? I'm sure there aren't 5,000 people there for the sole purpose of watching you play. There's security guards in place at any major sporting event....I'm sure you know that by now if you've been to any. Monica was a target of that guy because he was a Steffi Graf fan and wanted her to get the number 1 ranking, if I remember correctly.

  • @uofm97

This guy could have attacked Seles right in front of her hotel.

    Or during practice hours.

  • @Hoffenheim08 Well, okay...fair enough. Practices are usually locked down at pro events, aren't they? Doormen and valets would've able to tackle him as fast as those people in the crowd did. As it was, the guy was mentally unstable. So in his frame of mind, the place he'd know that he could attack her at would be where he'd most associate her with: the court. Either way you look at it, it was a senseless thing that could have and should have been prevented.

  • @uofm97

Have you seen how Steffi always was surrounded by dozens of autograph seekers right after she had won a match in the late 80s and early 90s? Or Sabatini?

Those were innocent times. It changed with the Seles stabbing. Until then a stabbing like this could not be prevented. And if today some maniac wants to stab Serena or Sharapova he or she would not do this on the court (due to security) but somewhere else. No problem.

  • @Hoffenheim08 They were different times, weren't they? When celebrities of any kind could be approached for a simple autograph. Nobody back then really thought that anybody would think of something like that would ever happen; it just wasn't thought of as a possibility. When you watch a game now, especially something like the World Series or Super Bowl, there's at least 5 officers surrounding the coach. I don't know about you, but seeing that in the camera shot ruins the big moments for me.

  • @uofm97 LOL even Mary Carillo said"Shez gonna milk this sucker for all its worth"

  • @uofm97 PSSSHHHH SHE MILED IT FOR EVERY CENT SHE COULD ...no-one BENEFITTED more from the stabbing than seles

  • @dwaynebuddha Yeah that could've been the case too, but she wasn't exactly the phenom she was after this happened, was she? Not even close to what she had been.

  • @uofm97 Graf must be lauded as the greatest womens tennis player of all time NOBODY can scratch the stats that she accumulated during her career in fact forget about the 22 grand slams ,forget about her being the only player to win all 4 majors at least 4 times ,you can even forget about the 377 weeks at NO 1 focus on the golden slam .If a playe today gets a career golden slam they have praise heaped upon them,Graf did it in one year that kicks the hell out of everyone else

  • @dwaynebuddha Fair enough. I was just saying that Monica Seles had the POTENTIAL to be the among the greatest women to play the sport, back when the sport was actually promoted on American TV. After this, she just wasn't as effective or enthusiastic. I am not exactly a tennis fan so I wouldn't claim to know anyone's all-time stats. I just came across this clip a few weeks back and remembered seeing this happening on TV.

  • @uofm97 yep what u say is 100% true ...she got screwed ,she was rogered macgood she would have had more time at no 1 she would have maybe won more slams but reality is we will never know

  • @TheSodomGomor exactly i've had bigger shaving cuts .....seles was scared of graf in my opinon and tried to milk it for all it was worth then when nobody was listening to her whining any more came back fat and unfit and was duly pounded off the court by graf.Seles was a 2 year wonder that was never gonna do anymore than she did at the age of 18 she set the benchmark for hingis another 2 yr wonder ..../salute steffi graf the greatest player of all time

  • Navratilova was the best at wimbledon end of

  • Navratilova was the best at wimbledon end of

  • At the rate Monica was going and dominating Graf so many times and Graf's many struggles in the time of monica's dominance, Graf would not have had 22 slams. She does and I don't take that away from Graf but it was pretty obvious Seles was going to be winning the majority of slams if it wasn't for her stabbing.

  • @wiseguyknowsit

    Why was it "pretty obvious"?

Because even against #1 Seles Steffi was winning most of the time?

  • @wiseguyknowsit

    Why this?

When even against a slumping Graf #1 Seles lost most of her matches?

How the hell would Seles have won MORE matches against a far better Graf of 1993-96??

    Taking steroids? Grunting even louder?

  • @wiseguyknowsit graf was catching seles in the rankings before the stabbing. Nothing Seles would have done prevented Graf from narrowing the lead in the WTA rankings further (Seles's lead of 58 pts. at the beginning of 1991 had narrowed to a mere 20 pts. just before the stabbing)graf had seles number before the stabbing she was gaining points every week it was not gonna be long before she was no 1 again

  • @wiseguyknowsit why dont u go learn some stuff before u type hey ...graf beat seles 10 times in her carreer seles only beat graf 3 seles only beat graf 5 ,Graf was closing the rankings gap at the time of the stabbing and it was only a matter of time b4 graf was no 1 again ,and even if she wasnt stabbed how could anyone garentee that she was gona perform at the same standard for the remaining years of her career.Graf on the other hand towards the end of her career kicked ass eg fo..wimby 99

  • I cannot believe you lot can literally spend months arguing over who was better, even Graf and Seles never argued about it that much. In fact they were friends and Graf was one of Seles' most regular visitors and defenders for her to retain her no #1 spot during her time away from the game. Seles was one of the players she enjoyed plying against the most and Graf was Seles'.

This incident along with Seles' father's death cost Tennis a classic 90s women's rivalry, which it's never had since.

  • LONG LIVE(VIVA) MONICA SELES!

  • @123456RaulMorales long live gunthers shiv.....if only he had a bigger one LOL

  • @dwaynebuddha Then, tell him to stab me!I challenge this psychotic scumbag and useless fucking coward-loser to stab me!WAR,WAR,WAR,WAR,WAR,WAR,WAR!

  • @123456RaulMorales VIVAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Guys like Boris Becker should be in charge of the German government, not stupid idiots that let insane people on the loose and forgive this act of violence against Monica. I assure you that Boris Becker would have condemned this act and exiled Parche to Siberia

  • @thepikachuvoltage16

In Germany the government has nothing to do with criminal courts.

And in Germany the percentage of the population in prison is less than 10 of those in China, the USA, Iran or similar countries.

  • THIS IS ALSO A ACT OF BARBARISM WE HAVE TO COMDAMN THIS

  • why isn't the moment he attacked her anywhere on the net? Poor dear.

  • Comment removed

  • @abendixe

    Are you kidding me?

'That wasn't a normal injurie. She had psychic problems after that.

  • @Kuba59

Because her dad was dying from cancer.

Which is worse than a minor stab injury.

  • She was from a "wrong" country. I'm afraid, that something similar will happen to Djokovic.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kozli1985

Nisi shvatio sta sam hteo da kazem, a to je, da ovo nije bio "slučajni" incident...

  • @nemaspasa ??? loool??? your an idiot

  • @nemaspasa

The Serbs were the pariahs in the 90s because of famous criminals like Milosevic, Karadzic and Mladic.

Who had a lot of support from the Serbian people, make no mistake.

But that wasn't held against Seles. And doesn't play any role today with Ivanovic, Jankovic or Djokovic.

  • but remember after seles came back she never defeated graf in a grand slam final - after graf had come back from so many injuries. Seles was fresh but still couldn't do it - graf is clearly and obviously the far greater player.

  • I don't think it's fair to say she was the greatest because she was doing well before age got stabbed. It was horrible what happened but she may very well have been on her way down, or her competition could have made Graf rise to a level she never did and thus still become #1. Point is, you don't know what would have happened, don't take anything away from Graf or give anything to Seles because of that horrible event that took place. That isn't fair to anyone.

  • @goatman455

But what else do those Selesian fanatics have than cheap excuses and woulda-coulda-shoulda dreams?

  • Wow, people are really freaky. Stabbing someone and ending someone career. Like the Americans in Indian Wells against the Williams family. What a shame

  • @earrth911

    Whose careers were ended?

  • in some twisted way, the psycho got what he wanted. graf started winning again and became the g.o.a.t. while seles' career was sabotaged

  • @icefrappe

Without the stabbing no one would have an excuse for denying Steffi the GOAT status.

  • @Hoffenheim08 steffi is the g.o.a.t. but its crazy to think what seles could had been if not for the stabbing. i'm not taking a side in this, but i'm just saying this psycho kinda got what he wanted.

  • After looking at this vid and reading the comments, I didn't realize there were people that followed womens tennis this closely. When I was a kid I followed baseball and football very closely. To each his own I suppose. I do remember this stabbing though, I wonder what happened to the guy that did it?

  • @clintonearlwalker

    What??

There were people who followed baseball closely?

  • @Hoffenheim08 Are you a man and claim to know about womens tennis? Do you wear panties also?

  • @clintonearlwalker

No, but I like to watch women with well-toned bodies runnning around in short skirts.

At least as long as they don't scream.

Panties? No. My cock is far too big.

  • @clintonearlwalker womens tennis players look better than footballers and baseballers lol

  • @dwaynebuddha I can't argue with that.

  • ROFL it was hardly a "Stabbing " it was a 5cm nick ,a scratch that seles milked the fuck out off.She knew graf was coming after the no1 and this dumb attempt by parche gave her the perfect excuse to hide on the sidelines .she milked it for all it was worth and when no-one was listening anymore she came back ,Fat and unfit and was smashed of the court by graf. for the last 20 yrs u little whinging seles fans have been trying to lay the blame at grafs feet ....my words to u is FUCK U ALL

  • @dwaynebuddha

Id love to put a "5cm nick" in your chest and see how you move on after that. Bitch made, fuck ass pussy fagot!

  • @Bcontinued ohhhh bit upset are we princess wats the matter ...working out that wat i said was the fucking truth hey sweety ...is it upsetting u fuck off u spastic cunt

    Come on!

It was a small stab wound which was closed with just one stitch by the doc!!

  • Monica should have had 9 Grand Slams before being stabbed.....but the grunting controversy at Wimbeldon in 1992 as a result of other players, officials and newspapers hurt and shocked her, so she played within herself and played a poor game. Monica was ahead of her time, by about 10 years. She was the prototype baseline rally player, with the huge foreheand and such determination to win. She was like the female Rafael Nadal. An incredible talent cut down way too soon. I'd take Seles over Graf.

  • @FaithIsAnnoyed ROFL she could never ever in a blue fit beat graf on grass ....GET OFF THE CRACK PAL

  • There's no point in comparing Monica and Steffi and Martina, whoever.... I was a Graf's fan, always, but there's one thing I have to say: the stabbing was the saddest and sickest thing I've ever seen in tennis. Only hope nothing like this happens again. But the world is so full of freaks....

  • i remember this... poor girl

  • @laubeatz I remember this also.and it outraged me,really!!

  • Y'all need to excused ....H..........08. Hes a retard, moron graffiti fan. Speak your mind against him, hes on every graffiti vidz, He has no clue about tennis. shut him up.

  • A ruined career because of a deranged Graf fan.

That nut Gunther Parche got his wish, Steffi would win everything in sight after the Seles stabbing and Monica would never be the same player again battling injuries and physically out of shape because of a food addiction.

Monica will always be the REAL#1 in my book.

  • @italo36

You think this minor stabbing (which was over within one day) affected Seles more than watching her father die from cancer in 93-98 (which lasted 5 years)?

OK, you are a rabid Selesian, but even you can't be so dumb ... ?

  • @Hoffenheim08

Are you for real when you say that?

The woman was stabbed in the back and the psychological effect was 1 million times worse than just the day of the stabbing, physically she recuperated in just 3 months cause some back muscle was torn by the 3 inch knife wound but when you think you are safe on a tennis court and for this to happen, no kidding she could not come back on a court for years.

You think like someone who has an I.Q of a 2 year old, think again to what you just told me.

  • @italo36

    "3-inch knife wound"???

Maybe in your fantasy land ...

  • @italo36 i agree she was never the same player after this stabbing and steffi the great player she is would never of won all the titles she had if it hadnt been for this madman.....

  • up until 1993, seles had 8 slams, graf 11 and seles is 5 years younger and adding them at a much faster pace. she even already had more year end championships. that is RIDICULOUS, she was ready to surpass graf and she's 5 years younger. as for wimbledon, even graf and navratilova didn't win it after 3 tries, in fact seles had done better at wimbleodn at the same ponit in her career compared to them. she was destined to be the GOAT until the knife.

  • @whfan007

    All excellent points.....and ALL TRUE.

  • @whfan007

Seles won most of her slams only because Steffi was in a slump 90-92 due to family problems.

Of course Seles was hampered by her father dying of cancer in the mid-90s. But what is this about this "stabbing" you are always referring to?

  • @whfan007 so @ the 99 french when graf was coming back from 2 yrs of operations and injuries wat happened, she beat the no 1 , 2 ,3 player in the world ..........beaten by a broken down 30 yr old is pretty embarassing OH but thats right seles career only lasted 2 years according to you !!

  • @whfan007

What do you want to say with "5 years younger"?

Hingis was younger than Venus in 1999.

Austin was younger than Evert in 1981.

And in which regard did Seles "do better" than Graf at the same point in her career in Wimbledon???

  • @whfan007

Hingis had won 5 slams at age 19.

    Navratilova zero.

    So?

  • @Hoffenheim08 the difference is, Seles wouldn't have had any new rivals until 1997 Hingis, so she would have easily (along with Graf) dominated 1993,1994,1995,1996 without the stabbing. Hingis starting 1999 had to deal with new rivals like Serena, Venus, Davenport, etc. So it's a different situation. Nobody said Seles would dominate forever, but until 1997 the game was no different.

  • @whfan007

Davenport and V. Williams were older than Hingis ...

  • @Hoffenheim08 the point is, they became top players in 1999-2000+. Seles would have accumulated most of her slams until 1996 just like Graf did, and up until then besides Graf and Aranxta, there was nobody in her way. Even Graf after 1996 won only 1 slam, so why expect a fat stabbed Monica to dominate? it was until 1996 that she would have dominated and added those slams. Heck even Aranxta was no.1 in her absence. PLEASE.

  • @whfan007

Graf won only 1 slam after 1996 because she had reconstructive knee surgery in spring 1997.

Her 1999 run at the FO and Wimbledon was a miracle.

And Seles would have had to cope with her dad's illness and death in the mid-90s anyway. It is utterly baffling how Selesians ignore Karolyi Seles' fate and its impact on Monica. Wonder why ...

  • @Hoffenheim08 by the time Seles' dad was dying, it was 1997,1998. Seles would have accumulated most of her grandslams by 1996. Look for a fat stabbed Seles to almost beat Graf at the US Open getting robbed in the first set tibebreaker and winning the 2nd set 6-0, before running out of breath in the third set, gives you an idea on what a Seles who was allowed to continue normally and evolve like a true athlete would have done. This was supposed to be her era.
