  • @wehatemillwall me too, however this was a protest song aimed at the situation in south africa , one we were contributing to and upholding, no person could be proud of that, it was a burden of shame, ths song says, while i carry the burden of shame, time is a strange thing, hard to remember while when this was made we openly supported the south african government, aparthied, and all that went with it, we were, as british people , better than that, and this song said so. and its a great tune

  • Dig that shit Gurrmamnz, dig that shit!!

  • "Patriotism... is the last refuge of a scoundrel." Samuel Johnson, April 7th, 1775.

Those that truly love their country endorse and will even die for the right to call its elected representatives on their misbehaviour and wrongs. It should be a responsibility to do so. But, no, on this page it's "fuck off and live in Iran" for doing so.

    Skewed logic. Stinking thinking.

  • Blind nationalism allows war crimes to be commited in our name, let the true patriots speak out

  • Cant wait to hear this live for there 30th Anniversary of Signing Off. Its been a long time coming.

  • Im a British subject and im a god damned ashamed of it. Fuck the queen, fuck the government and fuck the british zionist pigs.

there's a soldiers hand on the trigger, but its WE who are pointing the gun.

  • just 1 wkd band til they split such a shame :-( xx

  • great drummer

  • I am a British subject , I love UB40

  • their later stuff ie red red wine many rivers to cross were on an album called labour of love, the clues in the title, all the royalties went to the original jamaican artists. Full respect YES I

  • @safariel1

If they gave all the royalies from LOL to the original artists then that is an amazing and ridiculously generous thing to do and I applaud them for that.

  • @tomtoms23: Your Rockpalast uploads are beyond brilliant!

Can you give an order in which they should be played so as to recreate the concert as a whole, please?

  • music thats about politics is always the best........it comes from the heart

  • love this oerformance!

  • i got to know them in 82 and saw them live in 83... and i fully agree with 67gromit... i guess, money happened to them.

f.x. "burden of shame", "tyler" or "madam medusa", compared with "red red wine" or "cheerio baby"... it sounds like 2 different bands.

  • are they shouting Mugabe at the end? history is sometimes cruel, isn't it? :)

  • @CassidyAiiit

'Zugabe' is german and means 'we want more',

    like a bonus

  • some ppl just aint got a clue ub40 are the best have been from day one and always will be!! new and old, this music can never be cussed!!

  • katoness...agree with you totally, signing off and present arms were brilliant albums, wot the fuck happened to them.

  • Amazing band then why the fuck did they not contiune like this instead of getting into the reggae pop love songs. Terrible shame.

  • Somebody that agrees with me at last !

  • @katoness

I couldn't agree more! This stuff is brilliant and I'm sorry that I was two or three years too young to appreciate it at the time.

  • @katoness

26 albums only 4 pop love albums .... the last brilliant political album they did was Who You fighting For ...only 4 years ago....

  • @galaxyblinds I think you miss my point, they changed the sound of their rootsy reggae after present arms, they became more of a reggae pop band. They have done some good polictical songs, no doubts there. For me its been hit and miss with a lot of there songs. The best thing I heard recently was Rainbow Warrior, that had echos of the early days. I just pefer the early stuff. Seeing them play and doing signing off live was brillant a few weeks ago. Second half hit and miss.

  • @katoness i do agree with you...why this band come so mainstream.....popular kill the band...

  • Fantastic!Amazing !UNBELIEVABLE Sound Roots Reggae& " Twilight Zone " Dub !Very very Great group , greats songs with power words , critic of the system & world politic and more l! For me the best UB40 period , with the "Signing Off " album , "Present Arms" album ( and the Dub Version !), the ( wonderfull !) "Live" ( if i remember, live in Ireland 1982 , ....30th anniversary of their legendary Signing Off album, they make a big tour ! i'llhope see them!Respect to UB4O! Thx ( Bzh. 56.France)

  • @katoness 1 word money terrible shame

  • Reggae Music with a message!

  • Top band!

    Win :)

  • Present Arms and Signing off :} Everything after :{

  • Agreed!

  • You're right, man!

  • Labour of Love, too, was a classic.....depie being covers. And brought a whole army of newby's to reggae........

  • Early UB40 were fantastic. I saw them play at Dundee Caird Hall, 1981 I think. Great memories.

Thanks for posting, especially in such good quality.

  • I saw them at the blues ground, I wish I could go back to them times why do we have to grow old and wise

  • Yes, I'd love to see them (and many other bands) again back in their heyday.

However, I'm not so sure about this wise bit............

  • @sarahtrax

I was there too...amazing times Sarah xx

  • brings back great memories, music wise, nothing has changed politically
