@wehatemillwall me too, however this was a protest song aimed at the situation in south africa , one we were contributing to and upholding, no person could be proud of that, it was a burden of shame, ths song says, while i carry the burden of shame, time is a strange thing, hard to remember while when this was made we openly supported the south african government, aparthied, and all that went with it, we were, as british people , better than that, and this song said so. and its a great tune
"Patriotism... is the last refuge of a scoundrel." Samuel Johnson, April 7th, 1775.
Those that truly love their country endorse and will even die for the right to call its elected representatives on their misbehaviour and wrongs. It should be a responsibility to do so. But, no, on this page it's "fuck off and live in Iran" for doing so.
their later stuff ie red red wine many rivers to cross were on an album called labour of love, the clues in the title, all the royalties went to the original jamaican artists. Full respect YES I
If they gave all the royalies from LOL to the original artists then that is an amazing and ridiculously generous thing to do and I applaud them for that.
@galaxyblinds I think you miss my point, they changed the sound of their rootsy reggae after present arms, they became more of a reggae pop band. They have done some good polictical songs, no doubts there. For me its been hit and miss with a lot of there songs. The best thing I heard recently was Rainbow Warrior, that had echos of the early days. I just pefer the early stuff. Seeing them play and doing signing off live was brillant a few weeks ago. Second half hit and miss.
Fantastic!Amazing !UNBELIEVABLE Sound Roots Reggae& " Twilight Zone " Dub !Very very Great group , greats songs with power words , critic of the system & world politic and more l! For me the best UB40 period , with the "Signing Off " album , "Present Arms" album ( and the Dub Version !), the ( wonderfull !) "Live" ( if i remember, live in Ireland 1982 , ....30th anniversary of their legendary Signing Off album, they make a big tour ! i'llhope see them!Respect to UB4O! Thx ( Bzh. 56.France)

Skewed logic. Stinking thinking.

Can you give an order in which they should be played so as to recreate the concert as a whole, please?

i got to know them in 82 and saw them live in 83... and i fully agree with 67gromit... i guess, money happened to them.
f.x. "burden of shame", "tyler" or "madam medusa", compared with "red red wine" or "cheerio baby"... it sounds like 2 different bands.

are they shouting Mugabe at the end? history is sometimes cruel, isn't it? :)

Early UB40 were fantastic. I saw them play at Dundee Caird Hall, 1981 I think. Great memories.
Thanks for posting, especially in such good quality.

Yes, I'd love to see them (and many other bands) again back in their heyday.
