  • Hey, I'm sitting here at the table with Michael Hauver. I like your style but I love your guitar. . . . .

  • Hi, what a great surprise to know you have seen the video with Michael Hauver!!!

Yes the guitar is fantastic!!! Michael also builds beautiful 12 string!!! I've ordered a 6 string guitar but now that I discover the music of Blind Willie McTell, the 12 string is the guitar of my dreams : long scale, low tuning and bone shaking sound!!!!!!

  • I love it bro, keep up the good work

  • A truly wonderful performance. Very faithful to the original with all the emotion too. Is that a recording king guitar?

  • Hi KeniLee, really appreciated your comment!! The guitar is a ladder braced

Hauver .I've order it by Mike Hauver a great

Maryland luthier that builds fantastic 6 and 12 string like the old Stellas but with

    some modern improvements.

  • Thank you. The pleasure is all mine. I have never played a Hauver, but it sounds great. He is an associate to Niel Harpe from .stellaguitars. I have owned and sold many 1930 Stella guitars over the years. Currently, I down to my concert sized model with the mother of toilet seat fingerboard and headstock. Enjoy.

  • Yes, my own is a grand concert model,

with a 25 in. scale. Mike builds great

    guitars!!!

  • Beautiful rendition of a great song. Great vocals and great slide. Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you to leave a comment!!!

  • You are not Blind Willie Johnson.. Don't try to sing like him.

    Be yourself.

Only Willie was Willie. You're just doing an impression.

    Make the song your own.

I'd bet money your real voice is nothing like this contrivance.

Hope to hear YOU sing this, someday.

  • Hi thanks for your comment!!

I know what you mean, but after years of

listening to this music it's hard to change something. The respect and the reverence I have for the originals is so big

that cant help but "TRY " to play like that.

Also because my poor technical abilities

in singing and plays the guitar maybe

are not enough to play my own version.

And then again Blind Willie Johnson music for me is like some kind of classical music pieces,is just perfect,

    you cant change it!!!

  • I would love to hear you sing this better.

  • I would love to hear YOU sing this better.

  • Hi thanks for your comment!

Well of course I can sing it in an other way and maybe will be interesting, but to be true I never try. But I think as you said that can be very interesting and sure the next step! Thanks to leave your comment

  • Sorry bluesky. I was telling the hater that i would like to hear hhm/her sing it better not you.I'm actually quite fond of your music. This tune is favorited :)It was a miscommunication i guess.Keep it up.

  • Oh sorry ballocoke, to address to you my message! Glad you like the music!

    All the best

  • Perfect vocals.

  • Thanks for your comment!

  • You have done the best version of this song (that I have seen) for me to study how to play and sing it. It´s the same thing with 'I cant keep from crying..' Your voice is almost like BWJ's. I'm waiting for more covers of BWJ 's songs or maybe even Mississippi Fred McDowell's songs. Thanks.

  • Thanks for your comment!

I've tried to stay close to the original as more as I could. I think that those old country blues are like pieces of classical

music, you cant change them, they are just

    perfect!!!!

  • Man this sounds good. It's like Blind Willie Johnson is singing and playing this himself.

  • Real nice - all of you vids are terrific - great growl vocals and slide. If I close my eyes you sound like an authentic delta-born bluesman!

  • Thanks to leave your comment!!

Like your version of Church Street Blues!

  • Very nice job!

  • Thank you!!

  • Wow really good version. Where did you learn to play like that?

    Really impressed.

  • Thanks for your nice comment!!

Well the first step to play Blind Willie Johnson for me is been the Stefan Grossman book on bottleneck guitar.

He transcribed very carefully the instrumental intro of God Moves On The

Water so I've spent a few months just to learn that intro. After that little by little it came " natural" to find all the others six

verse and the middle break by myself.

While Nobody's Fault But Mine I've

listen to the record measure after measure and tried to figured out.

  • Probably the BEST bottle neck version of

this song on you tube. TOO kool.

  • Thanks for your nice comment!

  • fantastic!

  • Thank you kind sister!

  • great job once again my friend...

love the way you sing willie johnson

    5 * 4 u

  • Thanks rafman for kind words!

  • Thank you Mace!

  • Great tune man!
