  • Ol' Frank likes to talk! Seth lloks really pissed off at him hogging the mic.

  • Get with the times.

  • @Sleepingplanet1 Batshit

  • SETI people are waking up! More and more are realizing we are not alone and have visitors without your approval . It makes you look like a collaborator with

  • Do these these guys live under a rock! There is already copious amounts of info proving ETs exist out there through credible whistleblowers, national press club, gov. release in info( Mexico, Spain, Russia ...etc) physical evidence analyzed( crop circles). You need only be willing to look at it!

  • 19:20 where are you getting these figures? 100 000 stars? nobody EVER thought that

  • At some time,we will detect a alien earth like planet, when ?who knows, but this is so interesting, keep posting, thank you

  • wow , i really enjoyed the panel section of this video . lots of really fascinating ideas and technologies that could be in our near or distant future were thrown about . i am familiar with the drake equation from carl sagan , but it's really cool to finally see the person who made that equation in here . awesom talk , seti ! =D

  • @pry080513 Thanks Pry! Glad you like them, feel free to send the link to a friend. :-)

  • I have so far read the first five chapters of this book and I am partway through chapter 6. It is very interesting BUT if all we can find of extraterrestrial life are "microbes" people will NOT stay interested long. People want AVATAR they want STAR TREK. Microbes are technically life but everyone except for diehard scientists will get bored very fast if that is all we can find.

  • If you quiet the mind, clarify your intent, maintain a sense of love in your heart, and place yourself in rumored "hot spots" for ET showcases right here on earth, contact can be made right here on the ground. It's cheap, it's practical, and it works about 50% of the time. SETI always chooses to not discuss this process even as they are given directions and coordinates on where, when and how to do it. Why?

  • @BayProductions Batshit

  • Not to argue with Frank Drake, but life on rogue planets would not be entirely in the dark. I spend a few weeks a year deep in the Arizona desert where I observe the summer galaxy, the Milky Way. The light of our galaxy, thought not as substantial as the Sun, gives off a good deal of light. Indeed, so much that it actually casts a detectable shadow. BTW this was a fantastic and extremely informative presentation....most surprising was the discovery of multi-celled life deep in the crust.

  • @skyblazer7 Thanks for your thoughtful comment SkyBlazer.

  • For a tenth the price of a "george bush" War; we could have probes on Europa; Enceladus; Titan; Mars.... imagine a live video feed on the internet of the murky mysterious deep ocean of Europa...or just a video view of the breaking waves seeping out from the surface fissures....

  • @newmac what about the other nine tenths? Not only is SETI too underfunded to use the Allen telescope array but the terrestrial planet finder was scrapped for lack of funding and I am not holding my breath on any future telescopes. That money could have been used to finance a base on the moon and manned missions to Mars, and there might be LIFE on Europa can you imagine seeing videos of ANIMALS swimming around on another world??? too bad we have to bomb the taliban

  • Skip to 30:00 (the panel) if you don't want to hear buch of stuff you already know.

  • @polymath7 polymath this is one of the most interesting videos on the internet EVERY SINGLE WORD of it is interesting there is no part to skip over unless you have already seen the whole thing and are just going to your favorite part, the first time you watch it it must be beginning to end.

  • Look to the right under the "suggestions" column, and scroll down. Is anyone else utterly baffled by this?

  • @abadubie Who is "we"? Do you mean that this would free up government funds? Or are you one of those free market buffoons who think every thing ought to be privatized?

  • This is the FIRST time I have kept RE watching the SAME SETI vid over and over!!! I have watched some of them twice but most of them I have only seen once, some I do not even watch the whole one. I am losing track of how many times I have watched this vid! Apart from having an actual extraterrestrial or MIchio Kaku as a guest this is about as interesting as a SETI vid can get!!

  • @Zurround100 Thanks Zurround! We have some very cool guests coming up, too!

  • @Zurround100 I feel the same about Rob Dunbar's TED talk!

  • Frank Drake sure seems interested in rogue planets

  • Comment removed

  • I cant believe they got Frank Drake himself!!! I am so glad he is still alive! Dang I know in the past I have criticized some of the SETI videos but this is possibly one of the best ever. Jill Tarter is not always in the vids either and among others we get Frank Drake and Jill Tarter at the same time!! This video gives me more hope than ever that our species will find life on other worlds!! Well done SETI!

  • thanks for these fantastic talks. Im so grateful that they're uploaded on youtube for everyone to see. Thanks again.

  • ow...Jill owned religion!

  • Perhaps indeed; the scientists could find their funding through the religious community; they have the cash; and might be persuaded to part with it; to find "something higher".....

  • @newmac Where do you get the idea that scientists are full of cash?
