@bermyWHAT I was going to say the same. You have to protect the skin from the sun when using certain chemicals whether it's bleach or an acne topical or it will make you darker. Bleaching makes your skin photosensitive, it's says so on the product directions I'm sure.
dark people have a tenancy to want to be lighter...and pale people have the tenancy to want to be darker. everyone wants to be fair...not just dark people.

This is an interesting video, because I actually live in both worlds as light skinned and dark skinned. In the winter I become very very light and in the summer I become very very dark. I like it both ways and have to change up my makeup and foundation drastically but Im not treated better or worse because of it. If you have confidence and exude sex appeal believe me no one will care.

But pale, porcelain skin has historically been celebrated as the main standard of beauty..so using self tanners is not seen as much as a direct threat to one's identity. @eelamgal4eva I love dark skin. But all skin tones are beautiful in all races. As long as it fits you. However, it is weird to see white people who are very dark and black people who are very light. I think mahogany skin tones are gorgeous. Dark brown with red under tones are exquisite to see. It's rare in North America. You mostly see it in the Carribbean or amongst black Americans. When I see it I always have to pause for the beauty that God has made.

@rania3830 I have to disagree, it is not the white colour that is more attractive it is the the facial features that come with that colour are more attractive especially to males. You can be as dark as you like but if you have those features it will be attractive to more people. Skin bleaching creams will make no difference at all! For example search "Somali Queen = Ancient Egyptian Queen" on YouTube, the woman here is just gorgeous regardless of colour.

This is an interesting video, because I actually live in both worlds as light skinned and dark skinned. In the winter I become very very light and in the summer I become very very dark. I like it both ways and have to change up my makeup and foundation drastically but Im not treated better or worse because of it. I don't think its fair to blame ASIANA as the primary target for promoting fair skin as a sign of absolute beauty. In my opinion, parents are responsible for instilling those thoughts into their children's minds. You saw how in the beginning of this documentary the mom kept covering herself from the sun. But the host herself overcame that and accepts her beautiful complexion, which it is. Fair skinned or tan, beauty comes in many colors. :)

But pale, porcelain skin has historically been celebrated as the main standard of beauty..so using self tanners is not seen as much as a direct threat to one's identity. Besides, most self tanners don't have mercury and other types of dangerous, damaging ingredients. Honestly, a lot of people are literally DAMAGING their skin.

I think mahogany skin tones are gorgeous. Dark brown with red under tones are exquisite to see. It's rare in North America. You mostly see it in the Carribbean or amongst black Americans. When I see it I always have to pause for the beauty that God has made.

I don't know why people get so sensitive about the topic of skin lightening. If I open a typical U.S. women's magazine, I'll see at least five ads for products that tan your skin.
If you do the same in countries such as Asia and India, you'll see ads for products that lighten your skin.
