my dad brought two of these back in the day. in 76 he brought one and in 77 he brought another one for my mom's birthday that march. so we had a 76 and 77
at the same time. great cars back then. my dad even had a 72 monte carlo before
Is that Dan-o from Hawaii five o? He sounds familiar. I used to work for a guy who had one of these pimp barges back in the day - blue with a white interior. He looked real cool going to the disco in it, with his bell-bottom pants, snorting coke the whole way. Those were the 1970's.
I think this generation of cars from GM (including the ones from the other brands) are some of the nicest-looking cars from the '70's. I prefer the earlier version without the stacked headlights, however. (I also used to be scared of it when I was a kid. There was one next door and I was worried it was going to start up on its own and run me over. I always thought the front end looked like a shark.)
Even though I never liked Chevy I had a 77 with a 305 and it was a great car. Had over 120k on it when I got rid of it and never had any trouble. Rode like a cloud and impressed a lot of ladies when I was in high school. I'd give anything to have it back now.
@brobinson75 Yeah, the Monte looked it's best in 1973. Clean, uncluttered and classic. The '77 was nice too, but by then, the T-Bird looked more contemporary. Even with the oddball opera windows and glass in the d-pillar. The Monte Carlo looked dated, and claustrophobic, while the T-Bird had a more "airy" greenhouse.
@mariapalomino1 I had a 77 with the 305.. optioned strange, tilt, cruise power door locks and am radio with factory 8 track. I bought the extra warranty needed a ring job at 30,000 miles. Had the sviwl bucket seats. Pretty car, rode very well.
One of the best riding Chevrolets in its history!

@igettoff3 I bet you wish you had any of them over what you drive now - especially on a long trip.

Loved the '70-'72 the best. Though my folks had a '76, and my first car in '80 was a '73.

The '77 T-Bird gave it a run for it's money.

That's the same guy (Don Galloway) that played Detective Brown on the old Ironside TV series from the late 60's-early 70's.

Monte Carlo is the best only if it's a 1977. Sexy car with all those curves.
