I was planning on building my own Alamo Diorama, but I could never find the walls. Do you mind telling me where you purchased yours ? Thanks and you have a great diorama there !
i remem those! but i only had like 40 mexis and 30 texans and a cheap plastic alamo wall. not even 1 ramp i had as a kid.....i knew somethin was missin from my childhood =C
@dansvidco Don't feel bad for me. All hobbies are expensive if you can think about it and what is enjoyable to one person may not be to another. Painting the soldiers, buildings, walls and building dioramas relaxes me and keeps me busy now that I'm retired. Try thinking about those guys that are into miniture trains and the dioramas they build. More than 1,000 for a bunch of medal, plastic and plaster. Anyway its fun.
Wow, I'm actually impressed you have the layout rather accurate.
My only criticism is the cathedral in 1836 did not have that nice even dowel shape we now see on the current Alamo church building; the church building at the time had a ragged roof and the left and right bell towers were actually a little bit taller, but also ruined.
nice man thats the north wall correct?? if so they had alot more cannon up there and they also had a ramp well sorta a ramp and btw by the barracks are the mexicans in the alamo already?? kinda looks like they are but still very nice
Many of the parts were purchased from Classic Toy's Soldiers. There are other sites also on the internet. Just type toy soldiers and things will come up. I also looked at Images on Googles. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the comment. Yes I know John Wayne's version wasn't accurate, but it was a good movie. I do plan on purchasing another facade and cutting the top and adding to the back. I am presently painting the soldiers, but I have over 500 and it's taking awhile. Also I need to build a 12 X 12 table at the one in the video is two small.
Good stuff. I'm doing one myself using the Hudson and Allen diorama kit. I used "Illustrated Alamo" by Mark Lemon and "The Alamo: An Illustrated History" by George Nelson as primary resources. I think mine might be a smaller scale than yours (15mm figures). I'm going to try for the first 30 minutes of the battle (which is the main push at the north wall and southwest corner). . .looking at 1500 figures altogether.
Not bad, however John Wayne's (indicated by the music used) version is far far from accurate (if accuracy was what you were going for). Recommend chopping off the top of the facade of the chapel, since "the hump" was added by the U.S. Army after 1850. Great scale though. Are you going to paint the figures, etc?
