I feel like I am missing so much relying on the translations... I understand Aflon's relationship with Yuki... But I don't understand Kodai and Sasha... He is her uncle, yes... but why was she telling him he has Yuki and she has..? I don't understand... Was she in love with him more then the uncle relationship? I really need to learn more Japanese...
Sasha has innocent affection toward Susumu. She actually said, "You're telling me to come back to Earth with you, but you have Yuki. You have no room(for me in your heart). You're my uncle - I knew it from the beginning(that my love for you cannot be rewarded)." The producer's novel says that Susumu said in his heart, "Sasha, why can't you understand I care for you deeply, though it's never the same way for Yuki?"
Sasha also actually said in parting, "Please don't come after me, if you care about me even a little, Uncle.( Because if you continue trying to keep me, accomplishing my task ahead becomes unbearably harder, since I really don't want to leave you.)"
Translations of Alfon's sayings were quite messed up too. He actually said to Yuki as he sent her away, "You're a beautiful woman. Do earthlings care about their loved ones that much? Yuki, you're going to die, aren't you? You have determined to die after giving away the secret of the bomb to your comrades. You don't need to say anything, because I know. Only the man Kodai lives in your heart. --- You are believing only in the life of the man who'd fight for the Earth to the end."
I love Sasha the best! Don't you think she and Katou(the Cosmo Tiger's young ace pilot)'s romance would be A LOT nicer? Yamato III kinda made that up... but I really didn't want Sasha to die. Yamato makers think the story is not complete unless several VERY important characters die... T T
Definitely! With such a sweet, special character like Sasha, Yamato could have zillions of more excellent episodes. I always wondered why Yamato producers are so near-sighted... If they kill off valuable characters, don't they know they ended up re-using them again with the strangest explanations only to be mocked later? Fortunately they didn't do it with Sasha, but Princess Ruda was never as good as her anyway...
I cried a lot totally... not just because of their deaths but also because of the beauty of Yamato characters' hearts. I found nothing like them in other works to this day...:)

So it's like the second Death Star run?

gotta tell ya...this yamato (starblazers) is very dark and very dare i say...evil this wouldn't fly on american tv...maybe sci fi network..

Oh yes! Sasha and Katou would be a very good story line - too bad they didn't keep Sasha around for long. I think they killed her too fast...
