PBS' "God In America" barely mentions Utah -- in part because the producers already addressed the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the two-part, four-hour documentary "The Mormons," which aired in 2007.
During the morning session, President Thomas S. Monson wiped away tears as he spoke of his gratitude for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and of an elderly woman in a rest home who once was grateful for his visit.
Through gratitude, Monson said, miracles can happen.
@cayetanohawaii yeah, I know how it is. Mormon apologists trained in the best universities in the world are NO match for the ANTImormons of the world trained in.... NOTHING!
SALT LAKE CITY -- Church members were asked to remain grateful, even when facing their trials, during the 180th Semi-Annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday.
A two-year mission is a universal expectation for every "worthy, able young man,"President Thomas S. Monson said Saturday morning, speaking to more than 20,000 Mormons in the LDS Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City and millions more watching around the globe via satellite.
Despite an impressive number of men and women preaching the Mormon gospel across the globe, the Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints needs even more missionaries, several speakers said on the first day of the 180th LDS General Conference.
@BaurakAle7 I don't know if you are serious or if this is an attempt at a Pastor McCraney type of dubiousness. However, if you are serious, I suggest you look up the definition of the word coinage. Particularly the noun that defines coinage as - a system of money.
I don't think that a very limited definition of a word is a good exercise when reading ancient records.
All of the paintings reflect Bloch's values, Sister Pheysey said.
"Even the other paintings emanate the Spirit," she said. "They are tender, sensitive and show people that are often overlooked in society. They are people who have nothing that are often passed by without notice. He is able to show who they are and give worth to people who sometimes society overlooks. Through this exhibit we can understand where Bloch is coming from and what qualities resonate with us."
@omiolo BOM index that describes coinage: Senine, seon, limnah, money, antion, amnor, ezrom, onti, shiblon, shiblum, shum. I believe this is the same list Shawn pointed out to the idiot who called in to his show. These are also in my copy of the BOM. Of course, you will come back with an argument to help you live in your little fantasy world.
@omiolo "The Bible index describes celestial marriage." You're going completely off topic now. The Bible and BOM are totally different books. Don't try to spin things around by talking about a whole different matter. The terms I listed SPECIFICALLY defines the "coinage" system in the BOM. I'm beginning to wonder now, are you that LDS caller on Shawn's show who tried to make the same argument?
Patrons sit and listen to an iPad tour as they look at the painting "Christ and the Young Child." The altar painting is on loan from Sankt Nikolai Kirke, Holbaek, Denmark.
Once recipients complete their initial training, they begin to pay back the loan, and the money goes back into the fund to help someone else. With very little administrative expense, nearly all of the funds that go into the PEF are used to help people get education to improve themselves. The PEF began in 2001 and has helped thousands of individuals all over the world, according to church records.
@omiolo So you do know the guy who I'm talking about that made a complete fool of himself on Shawn's show a few years back? That guy Don who called in was a total idiot. I have seen comment where even some Mormons thought the same thing and were laughing at him. You guys are all the same. You like to play games to cover things up to help you live in your little fantasy world... Regardless about coinage, it is a FACT there is no archeological evidence to support the BOM claims.
"It's kind of a boost to get them up the ladder where they can start generating enough income (to) afford to take care of their families," Tyler said. "And a lot of them, with the additional revenue, pursue higher education."
"We have volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints," said Howard.
"It feels great," added Kyle Strong, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, who's living in New Castle on a two-year mission with the church. "We look at it like all the other things that they've done in the neighborhood, and it's just changed the view of it and made it better. I'm glad we can be part of it."
@omiolo "Coinage not mentioned in the BOM" I laughed so hard when I read your reply. You remind me of that one guy who called in to Shawn's show a few years back and tried to make the same argument. There actually is an index that defines coinage in the BOM. Even after Shawn pointed out where coinage was mentioned, the caller went on to make a complete fool of himself. I guess that's because all Mormons are fools, especially when you show them something in their own book and they argue with it.
@cayetanohawaii I stand but what I said. Obviously you can NOT give me chapter and verse. You might even foolishly try like Shawn McCraney did. You will probably bait and switch me and pretend what you give me is a chapter and verse. But you are a deceitful person. That should be obvious.
With its many attractions, displays, products, goods and services, Deseret Book's flagship store in downtown Salt Lake City has become a destination venue in and of itself. Among its many offerings, it provides entertainment, enlightenment and tasty treats.
@omiolo "The sickness of anti-Mormonism." Well, you're half right. Anti-Mormonism is being in a healthy mental state to see through all the lies. Those who are NOT Mormon can acknowledge that they are sinners and are in of a need a doctor to heal them. That doctor is JESUS, as scripture tells us. Scripture also tells us that He came for sinners, NOT for the self-righteous, so you had might as well remove "Jesus Christ" out of your church's name!
@BornAgainstMormons "Anti-Mormons get upset with answers." Because Mormonism seems to have eaten away at the frontal lobes of the brain and has diminished any thinking ability, often there is no point in arguing with them. Coinage actually is defined in the index of the BOM, so essentially it is mentioned, since the book defines what coinage is. I remember a similar argument with a man who called in to Shawn's show, and the guy made a complete fool of himself even after Shawn called his bluff.
@BornAgainstMormons "I have a difficult time seeing you overlook obscene and degrading language and decide who is Christian." Didn't I apologize for that on IF what you say is true? That's A LOT more than what you did for the bad behavior out of your fellow members imtherealthing and others. As for doing positive things, I always donate to the local food banks and contribute to volunteer work. So I have a hard time with you deciding who IS and is NOT a good person.
@BornAgainstMormons BTW- I believe it is a positive thing what I do almost everyday, to raise awareness about Mormonism and its false teachings. Jesus could ask for no more than for someone to defend His TRUE gospel. Why don't you make a resolution this holiday to stop being a hypocrite, and start living up to your own standards?
“We’ll see people staying in hotels with their families to be able to have the wedding here in Gilbert,” Tilque said. “We’ll have that offshoot of tourism dollars once it opens.”
Four new hotels have opened in Gilbert since the church announced plans to build a temple there, including three within two miles of the temple site at Pecos and Greenfield roads.
@TOMZAUGG This is one of the sickest, vilest comments. To say this comment is laced with obscenities would be an understatement on my part. It deeply saddens me to think there are people like you in the world. Your comment will be removed and you will be blocked from ever commenting on my videos again. You had better hope that God has mercy on your soul, because from what I see Satan has complete hold of it.
By MORmON accident, this video proves the scriptures of the Bible to be true and Mormonism false. The Bible speaks about the nature of flesh, and the only way we can over come it is through spiritual rebirth. Mormonism and their principles of self-righteousness developed by men doesn't work.
Statistics show that 60% of men and 40% of women will have extramarital affairs. What does that tell you? It means that we are HUMAN living by the NATURE of the flesh, and that more people need to get born again and come unto a SPIRITUAL relationship with Christ, which Shawn HAS done. Comparing cheating to polygamy is ridiculous. Why? Most people don't marry those they cheat with.
How pathetic. The person who makes these videos has some serrious issues. They seem obsessed with personal attacks against anyone who would dare question the mighty LDS Church. No wonder people call this church a cult.
@LeeroyCoy So denouncing adultery and those who commit it is bad, but committing adultery is something you can overlook? You need to watch my videos and spend less time attacking the messenger.
@BornAgainstMormons "Committing adultery is something you can overlook?" Yes, adultery is something that can be overlooked by God if you are born again and have repented. Why is that such a surprise to you? That our God is a loving God and a merciful, FORGIVING God. Where did Shawn ever learn this as a Mormon?
Defend him...no! Shawn like you and I are not immune to failure. People make mistakes everyday. Is Shawn a polygamist, I don't know. Was/Is Joseph Smith and Brigham Young polygamist..YES! Like I said before don't bring up the faults of former members who found out the truth's of the LDS Faith to justify any reasoning why they no longer believe in mormonism.
I guess when I think of failure, I think of NOT being patient enough or something similar. Apparently your definition is adultery and drug abuse. Things that I can consider ruin NOT failure.
Church officials unveiled a detailed rendering of the Gilbert temple at Saturday’s groundbreaking ceremony, depicting an 81,000-square-foot building accented by leaded glass, lush gardens and a 195-foot spire.
The spire, topped by the iconic statue of a trumpeting angel, will make the temple Gilbert’s tallest building and one of the highest in the southeast Valley.
By comparison, Mesa’s Bank of America building, the city’s tallest, is 224 feet tall.
Atheists and agnostics, Jews and Mormons are among the highest-scoring groups on a new survey of religious knowledge, outperforming evangelical Protestants, mainline Protestants and Catholics on questions about the core teachings, history and leading figures of major world religions. .
What saddens me is the sick sick people who profess Christianity and then come on here and defend Shawn. As if adultery is acceptable as long as you LIE and ATTACK the Mormons.
@October31st1517 The BOM is a RELIGIOUS record with historical facts in it. The BOM states that MANY times throughout itself. Our purpose is NOT to convince people that there were cement cities in mesoamerica and that the people there had Kings but to convince them through the Holy Spirit that Jesus is the Christ and ONLY through Christ can your sins be forgiven and salvation be obtained. Please learn to be HONEST about the Mormons. It might be your ONLY hope.
@omiolo The book of Alma tells us of the coins that supposedly were being used by these people. Can you please tell me if any of these coins have been found. The coins in the bible have been found? What about the coins mentioned in the BOM?
actually NOT. The commentary does but the actual book of Alma does NOT. Sounds like you simply have been reading ANTImormon propaganda. The word COIN is NOT mentioned in actual scripture in the book of Alma. Sorry you are deceived.
@omiolo When October31st1517 gets corrected he typically disappears. As noted with your response to him and his non existing response. Anti- mormons get upset with answers. They don't want them.
@omiolo Ok, so you admit that Christ is the way truth and the light, so whats up with all the masonic handshakes and grotesque rituals in the temple? For that matter why the Satanic teachings on Godhood? It was Lucifer want of Gods power that made him the devil in the first place, so what does that say about your entire religon? You all think that your going to become Gods in the afterlife, its blasphemy! Assuming, the church is true, why did Elohim lie when saying there was no other god?
@TOMZAUGG Wow, your sick comment that was removed was directed at me. What do you have AGAINST the truth? Why are ALL ANTImormons fixated on perverse sexuality?
@TOMZAUGG This argument has been made by some of the great legal minds of this country. It has also been made by SNL and many of the great satirists in America. Therefore, I must conclude that you are unable to discern what is and is not a good argument. Which would lead me to conclude that it is you that suffers from cognitive dissidence.
@BornAgainstMormons SO because some crooked lawyers and bunch of comedians come up with some cocka-me-me bullshit argument comparing the lust of banging the whorish secretary at the office to being married to 3 women at the simultaneously is an accurate comparison? Are you so naive as to think marriage is a purely sexual relationship? There's much more to it than that. Speaking of cognitive dissidence whats with the name born against mormons when you seem to be in support.
@BornAgainstMormons No friend, I did NOT attack you. I asked HOW this nutty clip would convince a rational person that the Book of Mormon and Mormonism was to be taken seriously. I have NO idea about Shawn's private life. It is irrelevant. And for YOUR information I have ALWAYS publicly preached and cried out against pastors committing adultery. I have also taken MUCH flack for it over the years.
@Blogrich55 This video is more of a question for why it is acceptable to rale against the limited polygamy from over 100 years ago while ignoring the wide spread adultery from today. The adultery that seems to be prevalent amongst those who claim to expose Mormonism.
@omiolo I find it sad how often you like to play the victim card. Mormons are helpless victims under ATTACK if a person disagrees with their theology and attempts to disprove their claims to represent Christianity. I hope you are consistent and accord the same consideration to ALL groups equally. So how about US? Joseph has done a pretty good job of attacking us in his first vision account. ALL of our creeds are an abomination,ALL of our professors are false.NONE of OUR churches is right. WELL??
@Blogrich55 "I find it sad how often you like to play the victim card"
How about you and your types STOP burning and vandalizing our Churches? And then maybe we can begin to put away the **victim card**? Why is that too much to ask?
@omiolo "How about you and your types STOP burning and vandalizing our Churches? And then maybe we can begin to put away the **victim card**? Why is that too much to ask?"
What a LYING clown you are! What drop of respect I had left has just gone with your childish accusation! Do you think YOUR churches are tje ONLY ones ever to be vandalized, fool? You play the victim card and whine because you can't face reality and admit that Joey attacked the Church first and you still repeat his vision!

@omiolo If there was ANY reality in Mormon apologetics, Shawn would NOT have to hang up on you.

Of course, you will come back with an argument to help you live in your little fantasy world.
cayetanohawaii 1 year ago
@cayetanohawaii Bible index describes Celestial Marriage. Are you ready to concede that based on your logic?
omiolo 1 year ago
@omiolo "The Bible index describes celestial marriage." You're going completely off topic now. The Bible and BOM are totally different books. Don't try to spin things around by talking about a whole different matter. The terms I listed SPECIFICALLY defines the "coinage" system in the BOM. I'm beginning to wonder now, are you that LDS caller on Shawn's show who tried to make the same argument?

"It feels great," added Kyle Strong, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, who's living in New Castle on a two-year mission with the church. "We look at it like all the other things that they've done in the neighborhood, and it's just changed the view of it and made it better. I'm glad we can be part of it."
omiolo 1 year ago
@omiolo "Coinage not mentioned in the BOM" I laughed so hard when I read your reply. You remind me of that one guy who called in to Shawn's show a few years back and tried to make the same argument. There actually is an index that defines coinage in the BOM. Even after Shawn pointed out where coinage was mentioned, the caller went on to make a complete fool of himself. I guess that's because all Mormons are fools, especially when you show them something in their own book and they argue with it.
cayetanohawaii 1 year ago
@cayetanohawaii I stand but what I said. Obviously you can NOT give me chapter and verse. You might even foolishly try like Shawn McCraney did. You will probably bait and switch me and pretend what you give me is a chapter and verse. But you are a deceitful person. That should be obvious.

I remember a similar argument with a man who called in to Shawn's show, and the guy made a complete fool of himself even after Shawn called his bluff.
cayetanohawaii 1 year ago
@BornAgainstMormons "I have a difficult time seeing you overlook obscene and degrading language and decide who is Christian." Didn't I apologize for that on IF what you say is true? That's A LOT more than what you did for the bad behavior out of your fellow members imtherealthing and others. As for doing positive things, I always donate to the local food banks and contribute to volunteer work. So I have a hard time with you deciding who IS and is NOT a good person.
cayetanohawaii 1 year ago
@BornAgainstMormons BTW- I believe it is a positive thing what I do almost everyday, to raise awareness about Mormonism and its false teachings.

Why? Most people don't marry those they cheat with.
cayetanohawaii 1 year ago
How pathetic. The person who makes these videos has some serrious issues. They seem obsessed with personal attacks against anyone who would dare question the mighty LDS Church. No wonder people call this church a cult.

@LeeroyCoy So denouncing adultery and those who commit it is bad, but committing adultery is something you can overlook? You need to watch my videos and spend less time attacking the messenger.
BornAgainstMormons 1 year ago
@BornAgainstMormons "Committing adultery is something you can overlook?" Yes, adultery is something that can be overlooked by God if you are born again and have repented. Why is that such a surprise to you? That our God is a loving God and a merciful, FORGIVING God. Where did Shawn ever learn this as a Mormon?
cayetanohawaii 1 year ago
@LeeroyCoy so an ANTImormon rapes a child and Mormons expose that and that is a personal attack? What world do you live in?

October31st1517 1 year ago

@October31st1517 "The book of Alma tells us of the coins"

@omiolo Ok, so you admit that Christ is the way truth and the light, so whats up with all the masonic handshakes and grotesque rituals in the temple? For that matter why the Satanic teachings on Godhood? It was Lucifer want of Gods power that made him the devil in the first place, so what does that say about your entire religon? @TOMZAUGG This argument has been made by some of the great legal minds of this country. It has also been made by SNL and many of the great satirists in America. Therefore, I must conclude that you are unable to discern what is and is not a good argument. Which would lead me to conclude that it is you that suffers from cognitive dissidence.
BornAgainstMormons 1 year ago
@BornAgainstMormons SO because some crooked lawyers and bunch of comedians come up with some cocka-me-me bullshit argument comparing the lust of banging the whorish secretary at the office to being married to 3 women at the simultaneously is an accurate comparison? Are you so naive as to think marriage is a purely sexual relationship? There's much more to it than that. Speaking of cognitive dissidence whats with the name born against mormons when you seem to be in support.

@Blogrich55 This video is more of a question for why it is acceptable to rale against the limited polygamy from over 100 years ago while ignoring the wide spread adultery from today. The adultery that seems to be prevalent amongst those who claim to expose Mormonism.
