just stop! never post another irish video again. ever. you're damaging the language. I suggest you learn Latin-at least no one will have a clue when you're screwing up that language!!!
man will you f*** off! Irish is dying, and if only the "perfect" speakers are allowed to speak it then it surely will die.
I don't care if the grammar is a bit off, it's someone making an effort to speak a language that is not his native one. Let's face it, only about 1% of Irish ppl are actually native speakers these days.
So next time you try to learn a new language like French or Spanish or Japanese I hope someone shoots you down just the way you did right there.
Gaeilge is beautiful- should be Ireland's main language, for TV, in schools, offices.
Whereas, English is increasingly useless as England, N. America sink in debt (and I'm an American).
I work internationally, the two main global languages of future are Chinese and German- low debt/high-tech, German a Euro hub. (With Japanese, Spanish, Hindi in 2nd group.)
So Ireland could have Irish as main language, replace English with German for inter-European use- less cost, German is far more useful!
Stop saying 'go dtí go rinne mé' when you want to say 'since I did'. It's 'ó a rinne mé'! Its on your other video aswell and it pisses me off. Then for about two minutes you ramble on about how you said 'greannmhar' instead of 'gramadacht'.Its GRAMADACH!!!! And dont even get me started on 'níl mé múínteoir'.....AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for posting these video's I'm part Irish American and I think it's sad that many Irish people no longer can speak thier language. It is a very beautiful language.
Your Gaeilge might not be perfect, but on the plus side, I understand you much better than most others I've come across on YouTube or TG4. Funnily enough (no pun intended...), that's probably *because* you're out of practice and don't have all the idiomatic language that completely immersed Irish speakers would use every day!

Maith an fear! Fair play tya man.. I'm 17 & have been doin Irish in school since i'm 4 & i'm still not that good! I find it hard do put sentences in Irish together.. Fair play tho!

anyone lecturing the guy on his grammar shut up yer the reason no one wants to learn irish the gaelatcht nazis, culutral elitists.great video man go hiontach.
hello! Leaving Cert Irish student here, figured I'd post some comments on your grammar.
At 1.07, it'd probably be more correct to say something like "Chomh maith leis na teachtearachtaí sin" Freisin isn't really the right word, and you're not pluralising messages. At 1.12, it should be "múineann" because it's present tense. At 2.08, it shouldn't be chuaigh, because that's went, not came, but I can't find my dictionary to tell you the right word. 3.17 greanmhar instead of gramadach again.
Níl mé liofa ach rachaidh mé leis.. comhrá atá i gceist agam.
Nó b'fhéidir gur mhaith leat féachaint ar an bhfíseán thuas idir an dá linn. Mura bhfuil an sraith seo feicthe agat fós, seans maith go mbainfidh tú sult as.
Your grammar is ok-ish lol. When u say múinteoir its "Moon-Chore" not "Moon-Tore", thats just a base that u mistake some of the "T's" when their ment to be "Ch's".Your grammar needs abit of work, like alot. Maybe use irish more or buy a Grammatical text book? but other then that Its awesome
ohhh wow so that's what irish sounds like. i have only heard and irish person speaking english with an irish accent and so would have never thought that this is what irish sounds like. thank you
you are seriously such a c.unt. What is the American accent goin on? Is the fringe back in fashion?? You made no point whatsoever, like every single video you post , mar shampla, the game that Ireland drew to San Marino... just rambling on... chuckling to yourself... Oh and that video of you with your "girlfriend"!! possibly the most cringworthy youtube post iv ever seen... "Give me a kiss".. oh lord the shame. Slan leat agus go raibh maith agat
a Ghaeil a chara, na bí ag gearán fa "bhotúin" sa teanga. is rud misláintiúil ar fad é go bhfuil fuath agat ar mheancóga fhoghlaimeoirí na Gaeilge. tá súil agam nach bhfuil tú ag dul a bheith i do mhúinteoir...beidh do chroí briste go laethúil!!
Just no. It is probably the way I Was taught, But it is just and My other classmates will agree, A Waste of time really. And Robjdaledge "Ledgend" Is spelled like this LEGEND, Back to the point, I Am currently learning German and a bit of French as well as doing Irish, And Irish too complicated the way we are taught, German and french - Vocabulary, Irish, Essay.. Huh?
your english doesnt seem to be too great, maybe should brush up on that. that way youd be learning three foreign languages french, german and english because if you consider yourself irish then english is as foreign as any other language that isnt irish..... is fíor amadán thú....
My English is as good as anyone else's. I Don't see how you can comment because there is a few mistakes there. And darragh, Home is where you make it, Ireland has and always will be my home,
So please don't talk crap about considering myself Irish.
wat has "home is where you make it" got to do with anything? he wasnt saying ireland isnt youre home, the place where u live, just that it was an important for our culture etc. douglas hyde and patrick pearse seemed to think the irish language was an important aspect of being irish
Bhi me ag imirt "online" cupla blian oh shin, agus thosaigh diulach as Ceananda caint liom as Gaeilge! Bhi me gobsmacked! Ta an Gaeilge nios mo caillte agamsa anois. Gabh mo leathsceal, nil fhios agam conas a scriobh an fada ar an "keyboard". Ce hi an smartarse thios? ;-)
ba mhaith liom thú a mholadh as ucht fís a dhéanamh as ghaeilge! is iarracht maith é agus lean leis! tá do ghaeilge measartha ach tá sé ag feabhsú an t-am ar fad ach amháin an fadhb 'greannmhar agus grammadach!' maith thú! molaim thú!

God as a fourteen year old v-blogger, I Personally hate the irish language A Few learning it will agree with me, And all this Irish v-blog shite thats going around. Ugh ¬_¬ But i do like your other videos, Your views are essentially mine, But The irish, Not so much..
I don't think having like 2 lessons for irish a week is enough, personally i think its easier to learn irish first then english.BTW IM SORRY FOR WHAT I SAID=[
You're fourteen, we all hate school at fourteen, or at least parts of it. I go to an Irish class where the majority are adults who DETESTED Irish the first time round...then they got older and they became aware of the facts of history and maybe they had their own children and then they realised how important their own language was.
It's a shame your teacher hasn't actually given you a reason to love Irish, but I don't understand why you would actually HATE it.
Do some research on why you don't speak Irish, why the language (which is your birthright) is so inaccessible to you.
If Irish was spoken by everyone in Ireland now, it would have developed and modernised just as much as English or French (it's doing well as it is though), and you would use it just like you use English now.
Maith thu- after all the years most of us spent sloggin in Irish classes in school you'd think we'd all be able to speak like you. You managed to have a four min conversation with yourself in basic Irish...so what if the grammer wasn't totally fluent. All you need is the core.....
Tá do Ghaeilge go hiontach! I take it in college, and I'm only a semester in. Are you self-taught? Really impressive. A tip for you is in your pronunciation I didn't hear some lenition where it should be "Mo ghaeilge" or do "ghaeilge". Singular possessive adjectives cause lention in the singular and eclipse in the plural. Hope that helped!
ah crap, nope that was a mistake again, haha, can't believe it happened again and i didn't notice... can't believe it too this long for someone else to spot it also, cheers
nil mise muinteoir? nil mise i mo muinteoir (i tink) lol i sound lik my irish teacher!!!!! u no u got featured in google!!!! dats wer i found dis.....also how random is dat vid (??) lol...
That was brilliant, i'm irish myself! My irish is terrible tho! But this video is interesting, if there was only more people like you who made more video's in irish, maybe irish would be worth while learning and maybe it would be more appealing and interesting haha!! Anyways, that was brilliant i'd never be able to say all that off the top of my head!
Bhain me fein sult as fosta. Shil me go raibh na h-abhair a raibh se ag LABHAIRT faoi (ni ag caint faoi!) suimiul. Ma ta tu ag deanadh go ndeanfa fein fisean nios fearr... dean e. B'fheidir (ni bedir!) nach bhfuil a chuid gaeilge foirfe ach, ar a laghd, ta se a usaid agus ag cuir ar dteanga chun tosaigh le meon dearfach.

Maybe he speaks Irish but he looks like a CHICANO who just crossed the border ... I don;t know what's the meaning of learning such an unuseful language but if that makes him feel happy and away from drugs it's OK by me. What really surprises me is that the real retarded are the ones who like to watch this.
Looks can be deceiving, i have zero connection with Mexico. Schools in Ireland teach Irish to kids.... they maybe just don't teach it well enough which is one contribution to the lack of it in general use these days
It seems you feel really educated when interested in such a total waste of time .... that's why the world is so fucked up. Also, you sound like a NAZI, reliving those dead languages. Cuando quieras te caigo a patadas por ese culo: PAJUO! (I'm also able to insult you in other languages)
Please don't place your obvious limited cerebral resources under strain by attempting to insult me (either in English or Spanish). Your expressed bigotry and pusillanimous nature is insult enough!
Ok ... Have fun in your Nazi and Skin Heads meetings, I bet you lead one of those ... One of these days the police will catch you and kick your ass to death. Pedazo de cabeza de guevo Oligofrenico. Debes ser mas feo que una mula muerta, ademas de asqueroso pedazo de excremento fetido.
I never tried to say my English was perfect either, my main concern when editing was the placement of the subtitles, this usually leads missing any spelling mistake as i pay little attention to that :p
no listen, you didnt go back and look what i meant is you said the word for "funy" (gramver?) instead of the word for grammer (grameducht?) I was the first to catch it NOT liklesmith.
Oh sorry i thought you were on about the subtitle, which is why i was confused, so i didn't notice. My bad, you spotted it first then :)
because you spelt it wrong that's why i thought you meant the subtitle, i think it's spelt "grainmhear" (someone correct me... hell i bet some already put it in a comment, i'm just lazy to look, sorry)
I've wondered for a long time about the lyrics of an Irish pub-song "Whiskey In The Jar", do the lyrics "musha ring dumma do damma da" mean anything and what does "whack for the daddy 'ol" mean. Hope you answer thanks.
Some peoples comments on youtube is so annoying and ignorant, if you have nothing nice to say then don't post.

Huh?
R4ggy 4 years ago
your english doesnt seem to be too great, maybe should brush up on that. that way youd be learning three foreign languages french, german and english because if you consider yourself irish then english is as foreign as any other language that isnt irish..... is fíor amadán thú....

I don't think having like 2 lessons for irish a week is enough, personally i think its easier to learn irish first then english.BTW IM SORRY FOR WHAT I SAID=[
MidnightFantasy1 4 years ago
You're fourteen, we all hate school at fourteen, or at least parts of it. I go to an Irish class where the majority are adults who DETESTED Irish the first time round...then they got older and they became aware of the facts of history and maybe they had their own children and then they realised how important their own language was.
animalunaris 4 years ago
It's a shame your teacher hasn't actually given you a reason to love Irish, but I don't understand why you would actually HATE it.
Do some research on why you don't speak Irish, why the language (which is your birthright) is so inaccessible to you.
If Irish was spoken by everyone in Ireland now, it would have developed and modernised just as much as English or French (it's doing well as it is though), and you would use it just like you use English now.
Have an open mind.

Maith thu- after all the years most of us spent sloggin in Irish classes in school you'd think we'd all be able to speak like you. You managed to have a four min conversation with yourself in basic Irish...so what if the grammer wasn't totally fluent. All you need is the core.....
Emiljane 4 years ago
Tá do Ghaeilge go hiontach! I take it in college, and I'm only a semester in. Are you self-taught? Really impressive. A tip for you is in your pronunciation I didn't hear some lenition where it should be "Mo ghaeilge" or do "ghaeilge". Singular possessive adjectives cause lention in the singular and eclipse in the plural. Hope that helped!

Maybe he speaks Irish but he looks like a CHICANO who just crossed the border ... At 1:37 'their' should be 'they're'... glad you are staying away from teaching Irish since the English isn't too hot either.

I never tried to say my English was perfect either, my main concern when editing was the placement of the subtitles, this usually leads missing any spelling mistake as i pay little attention to that :p
MokongX3M 4 years ago
no listen, you didnt go back and look what i meant is you said the word for "funy" (gramver?) instead of the word for grammer (grameducht?) I was the first to catch it NOT liklesmith.
ccr1567 4 years ago
Oh sorry i thought you were on about the subtitle, which is why i was confused, so i didn't notice. My bad, you spotted it first then :)
because you spelt it wrong that's why i thought you meant the subtitle, i think it's spelt "grainmhear" (someone correct me... hell i bet some already put it in a comment, i'm just lazy to look, sorry)
