i remember getting the demo for this on PS2 and being amazing by the advanced cover system. just a purely fun and entertaining game. this is probably the last innovation we will see in combat war games for a long time, now they are on a set MW formula and unfortunately nothing new will be produced until the public stops spending money on it.
I backup Skinnyvinny 100%, some ppl did think this game sucked, I have no idea why. It had a 110% logical story line that properly fit with what you were doing in each mission, and was enjoyable the entire way through. I really think I might buy this for the computer cause I sold it about 6 years(shoot me if I give a wrong year...) ago...sadly....
this game inproved Winbacks cover system but this is what game's today are still doing an it work's cause of game's like Winback an Kill Switch that took it to that next level. if you have not play this game you're missing out on something EPIC.
@IdentityUnknownYet I only have the Xbox version, but I'm guessing it's best to choose whichever version is the easier to get your hands on. I'm doubting there's a huge difference in either the controls, or the graphics. The Xbox version probably looks a little sharper, but overall, it's not like it's a top tier graphical game on either system.
i remember wanting this game so bad when i seen trailers.. damn it has not aged well at all. i don't remember xbox games looking this crappy. maybe its just the level.
@wolfservant5 And everyone you know= The entire gaming community as a whole? It's nice that epople in your area gave the game the attention it deserved, but that still doesn't mean that all gamers gave it such attention.
@teh2Dgamer This game was heavily marketed in the states at the time of it's release. Commercial spots ran constantly for this game! I was heavily active in the gaming community back then and nearly everyone had it at some point for either the PS2 or XBOX. You could also go into any used game store and find several used copies at anytime. It wasn't an overlooked game at all in North America at least.
I like the game overall, but it drives me crazy that there are no checkpoints. If you die, you have to totally restart the level. That is a deal breaker for me.
I found this game to be VERY awesome back in the days when it came out,i used to play it all the time. I had only two problems. Why did Bishop run so damn fast?? And the fact that there was no multiplayer was realy sad :(.
And i still dont get it why wasnt there ever a sequel...
OK. I'm not going for a perfect run here though. I'm trying to show the gameplay, so, if I overlook some things, that's why. I'm more interested in showing people the gameplay in the allotted 10 minute time limit than showing them a perfect run.
I have this on ps2 and it is underrated because I enjoyed this game very much. Its amazing because some of the most underrated games are the games that are responsible for certain breakthroughs in gameplay but never get credit for it because of the simple fact they are underrated. But then a bigger title that comes out much later that gets all the hype gets credited for that breakthrough when in fact it was the older underrated game Happens all the time.
No real reason. i don't think that gore really adds anything to the gameplay. Most games just add it in for the "cool" factor so they can impress Jr. High aged boys.
I don't really even care one way or the other for gore.
i allways wanted to play this on the ps2 back when it was new. it looked fun. but to me once u get one of the new shooters like cod4 where everythings at its peak i cant go back and play older shooters
I hate Call of Duty 4 myself. It's just too overly scripted in the single player, and I'm not impressed with the perk system in the MP either. Perks unbalance the game, and are just cheap IMO. They take away the skill factor.
Truly an extremely overrated game if ever there was one. I couldn't force myself through the single player. It was the same as all the other CoD games before it in that it was too scripted. Sure, the timeline changed, but the gameplay feel did not.
yea i agree with you on the perks, but just about every game has things that can be exploited for use of thoes with no skill. the rest of what you said is fine because everyones got their own type of game. whats your favorite next gen shooter?
I really don't have a favorite. I think they all sort of play the same. Instead of using the power provided by the next gen system and allowing for more freedom, they just use the power to make the games prettier, but make the gameplay less free, and more restricted.
I'm just not a fan of scripted stuff anymore. I've already seen too much of it.
I've actually gone back to older more simpler shooters that let me feel like I'm playing the game how I want to.

i think the main reason it didn't get better attention is because it lacked multiplayer

Im guessing the reason why their wasn't a Gamecube port was because of its sales and the 'kiddy friendly' image people labeled it.

It refined the mechanics that are now used in modern games, but Winback was indeed first.
