  • I played this game for the first time a month ago ! It quickly became my favourite game of all time! Pure awesomeness! Intense action and believable atmosphere! WWoow!

  • Is it just me or is this better than pretty much all Techno/Electronic/House music?

  • Guys, I'm pretty sure hoza41 knows this game came before Halo, and he's just trolling for laughs, hence why he said "/popcorn". He wanted to see your reactions.

    It worked.

  • @PilmarKhinKari I guess it wasn't obvious enough.

  • After playing the Bioshock Games, and hearing that the Bioshock series and Deus Ex are spiritual succesors to System Shock 1 & 2, I decided to give them a look... This song is all I need to want to play now. I'm gonna get this!

  • @n64dudeman

Deus Ex kick's bioshock's ass. Though quite frankly the only games that compete with it are this, maybe the half life games, and more personally freelancer. All the classics had great soundtracks, and I hope game developers will or already have taken that hint.

  • Best game ever.

  • @hoza41 Nope, this came out before Halo.

  • @hoza41 *rolls around on the floor*

  • @hoza41 its nothing like halo.

  • @hoza41 Are you some kind of troll? This game resides as one of the greatest pc games for being so innovative and original, while halo just simply does not. It came out a few years before and still had better graphics, as well as what you can hear right here which was SFX that rival today's games still. Go back to your XBOX and play COD cause im not sure you can handle this.

  • @hoza41 Troll Harder

  • @hoza41 Really? Don't see the resemblance?

  • @hoza41 Halo ripped this :) Halo 01 , system shock 2 - 1999 :)..

  • This was more than just a shooter, it was the FPS that came before Halo, the RPG that preceded Skyrim, and the horror game that foreshadowed Dead Space. A true innovation from the work of a true visionary.

  • @Purblman It's sad that we lack this much depth in most games now a days...if not all of them : /

  • This song is the worse fitting music for a game like system shock 2

  • @zaalngoon I disagree, I just think it was placed in a bad area for it. It was still a tutorial level, this music made you go crazy and smack the shit out of enemies and it drowned out any helpful messages received. That being said, I'm sure today they'd have just made the voice comms lower the volume of the music.

  • The only game so far that has scared the **** out of me. The fear it brings is something completely different than Doom III, or F.E.A.R series (although I LIKE F.E.A.R's style a lot, it's not all that scary on the long run. Easy to forget etc.)

  • Halo....oh thats that power ranger game rite, with all the pretty colors rite? now i remember........i personally hate it.

  • Fuck the Bioshock series, we want System Shock 3!!! Damn you EA, get your head out of Bioware's ass and bring back the System Shock series.

  • @Motion63O they turned it into Dead Space because they figured their typical demographic would be too confused by something called "System Shock 3"

  • Halo 1 was fun (all the others just felt like a chore to me) but it never gives me chills whenever it drifts through my mind... halo was a pretty sweet game(/series w.e. don't flame) but system shock was a friggin epic

  • Another one of those Epic games!!!

When I play it,most of the time I think to myself "Maybe I'll see that drunk guard from thief there...that taffer!!!" =D

  • Thumbs up to get this game on GOG.com :3

  • 2:36 - 2:59 became my ringtone :]

Hope that Windows 8 will be like Shodan

  • Weapon condition: 1: Terrible (broken)

    Inventory: Potted plant, Game Pig

A damaged screen flickers in the darkness. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

  • Huh, I've never heard of this game before, but this music makes me want to find it.

  • lol, people comparing ss2 with halo, ah right i forgot to play halo you dont need to research your monkey brain XD

  • lol, people comparing halo to ss2, poor devils

  • Isn't this the game that inspired Deus Ex? Also who's the composer for this track?

  • I like how frantic this track sounds.

  • The opening to this track makes me tingle in all my favourite places.

  • Best game ever!

  • One of The Many disliked this song.

  • Just found a way to make this work and installed it from a friend's copy. I'm in the science level near the beginning and it's fucking with my head. The music is fucking awesome, though.

  • Heh my favourite soundtrack from this game :P Btw i still playing this game :p

  • I shame myself for not playing systemshock2 after playing Deus Ex 1 so many times! I need to find myself a copy of this epic game!

  • best track from the best game's soundtrack

  • Soo....f...u...ckin..goooood.......ahhh I got my fix, but listening to this track lol

  • where can I purchase this?

  • Gotta play the game again soon, this tune brought back memories

  • My friend just linked me to this.

WOAH, WTF. After the first quiet part it just goes CRAZY. IT'S AWESOME. :D! I feel the need to go and look up the game now.

  • -cries- I can't find a version of this game that'll play on my xp. :(((((

  • Bullshit! This game was before(1999) Halo(2001) and the gameplay is FPS/RPG.Halo is just a FPS shooter. This game owns Halo everyday.

  • @vixalazio And that is correct!

  • @vixalazio I have a habit of browsing videogame soundtracks. On each video I can't help but having my eyes wander to the first comment in the postings, and almost always it's some idiot posting about how their favourite game beats some other game.

Seriously, if I have a favourite game, that is System Shock 2, but I aknowledge that Halo 1 is a pretty good shooter and I can argue that if you really want to. In the meanwhile, keep your bullshit down.

  • @vixalazio

But it's kinda a clone of Marathon, the game that was made by the same people that made Halo (and the game Halo is a spiritual successor to as Bioshock is to this)

  • @vixalazio Ya know "Thief - The dark Project" - Series? It's based on the same engine.

  • Comment removed

  • @agent0sephiroth Because your typical fanboy's little mind is not developed enough to handle such complex tasks such as liking different kinds of games.

"Game x is obviously better than game y" -types are the same to gaming as the dumbass teapartiers are to world politics. Maybe even worse.

  • Comment removed

  • @vixalazio My game is bigger than yours.

  • @vixalazio they are two tottally different games and i like them both for what they are

  • @vixalazio 1997 to be precise. And yeah, I think System Shock punches Halo in the nuts any day of the week.

  • @tHecOmMeNtErSrEtUrN Which is incorrect.

Halo came out a few years AFTER System Shock 2.

  • @Karekristensson please don't feed the trolls.

  • @Karekristensson You shouldn't take him seriously, he's obviously just a troll.

  • @tHecOmMeNtErSrEtUrN hahahaha fail.

You're on the internet, I mean, no offense, but you could of EASILY just searched to make sure you were right.

  • @tHecOmMeNtErSrEtUrN LMAO LMAO LMAO WTF FAAAAIIIIILLLLLLL XDXDXD

  • @tHecOmMeNtErSrEtUrN: This game was more likely inspired by Half-Life just a tiny bit.

  • Abstracting of this that this game FRIKKIN GORGEOUS, it also made me totally into drum & bass music, and I'm totally thankfull for this.

  • This sounds like electrodark or EBM music.

  • HEY EVERYONE! Ever heard of game Xenomorph? Check the gameplay video watch?v=gqv9BqJMhww and listen the music after 5:00? Sounds familiar eh? Any comments on that?

  • I checked the video description and the guy who uploaded the vid wrote that he only added the SS2 music to make it more scary.

  • oh, makes sense then :) first time I see that 3rd party music is used on walkthrough/longplay video.

  • @vicemanFIN PWNED!

  • @vicemanFIN "As this game lacks any music apart from the initial music, i've added some of the ambient music from System Shock 2 as it seems to suit the game quite well."

  • "Potential threat detected! Potential threat detected! Security alert terminated!"

    Good times.

  • @Gibberman900 unit 345 compromise :-D

  • Where can i download the soundtrack?

  • This song just makes me go on a wrench spree like the old days...

  • This song is epic. I remember the first time I played SS2. I just entered MedSci and the moment the first hybrid attacked this song went full throttle. I panicked and then I ran into a camera and alarm went off. :D

  • i just got this games and the same thing happened to me

  • Comment removed

  • @Arpiainen2 Hehe, I think a lot of people must've had this moment when they first played the game. I know I did. Only, tack "and was promptly murdered by shotgun wielding horrors" on the end.

  • @Arpiainen2 Panicked? Werent you supposed to... Well, this music made me wipe out everything in MedSci with a wrench =\

  • @Arpiainen2 xDDD Man did the same xDD Then I started to fight with wrench to last breath killing + 10 hybrids then I realised "damn maybe I should justh destroy this damn cam " but by the time i was just dead... :D:D

Song , just like the whole soundtrack is just smashing everything :)

  • Its old game soundtracks like this that hit you with nostalgia like an angry rumbler 10 years down the line. the quake/ss2/half life/ command and conquer soundtracks stand out. modern games really cant pull that off as well anymore.

  • Some can, some can. But that's the problem, their rare now.

But as years went on I found even the games of 2-3 years past soundtrack's, are better the modern ones. Espiecally if it was a game you enjoyed, I believe todays game music we liked will sound better 10 years later then they do now, just like games like ss2/half life/quake.

I've personally grown fond of painkiller/halo/bioshock/prototype and more =)

  • Awsome game. Awesome music.

  • man, imagine if trent reznor had did the soundtrack to this game......but this game is the best of all time

  • True, this is the one of the best game ever made!

  • i love playing this game... the oldies still own the new games!

  • One particular upside to newer FPS games, though, is that you can aim your weapons with proper sights. That alone enhances gameplay a squillionfold.

    \8-D

  • 1:30 best part

  • The best game ever..............

  • I have finally managed to get this great game working, and I have to say "...wow...AHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

  • Congrats. It took me a long time to get it working but I have absolutely no regret for the time spent in this... And if I ever need it working again, there's this easy patch on some forums... But I digress, the game is amazing.

  • Really? Where?

  • I'll PM it you. YT doesn't like links and I don't feel like jumbling it up.

  • yeah woo ahh thats how it all began but later there was running and scream and dying.

System Shock 2 was truly a revolutionary game.

Unfortunately since EA has bought the right to the name i fear that system shock 3 will be a MAYOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, at least they are not trying to make a movie out of it. (: That would be a MAJOR disappointment.

  • If they did it in first person, followed the path of the game and only had the ghosts, logs and enemies for voices anc characters, it'd be fantastic.

  • I fear the same. Give the rights back to the masters!

  • Looking Glass Studios doesnt exist anymore ;) But former members of the company created BioShock. They couldn´t create a sshock3 b/c e.a. didnt want to sell their sshock licenzes.

  • ???

  • This was done on purpose. In fear of scaring games with capitals (often used in screams or shouting) the title was published with lower case letters as the rest of the game is already creepy-atmospheric enough!

  • jesus will you just, calm down?! It's the best game ever made.

  • Best game ever. Soundtrack is awesome.

  • System Shock 3 .... please :( i love this game

  • Best sci-fi horror game ever, best storyline, best music soundtrack, best gameplay - really set the mood for a creepy sci-fi thriller.

  • Amazing game, too bad Bioshock was utter BS

  • i have to somewhat agree, but not completely

  • they dont make games like that now... super hd graphics , enhanced gameplays - but they are shit compared to some classics like System Shock 2 or other good old games

  • You got that right.

  • Oh yes! The problem is, that every new game has perfect graphics. Its a MUST. A good storyline is shit, most people just want to crush up things with big weapons...oh I hate this shit...

  • Yeah.

I would rather play a DOS game like DreamWeb and enjoy the storyline, rather then looking at some fancy graphics and shooting everything.

  • Damn straight. I've noticed this with dismay as well..compared to some old classics like Syndicate, Command & Conquer 1, Master of Orion 2 or Baldur's Gate, modern games just don't have that flavour anymore. They're all shiny and great, but it seems to me that they lack the main thing: soul.

  • Yes most of them. The ones, that do are bought by nearly no one. For example "Beyond Good & Evil". Very good speakers, very good storyline and a lot of variety in the whole game, a GREAT soundtrack - no one knows it.

But the developers work on part 2, although Ubisoft has not accepted to sell it. :D Maybe someday there's a System Shock 3 - that would be my reason for a new computer. ;o)

  • Indeed. Might have a look at Beyond Good & Evil as well...oh crap, I haven't even played Planescape: Torment yet!

  • You are right man...

As far as i know the copyright of SystemShock is at the moment with EA Games. Bad Luck, they use SecuRomDRM... byby SystemShock... RiP i will miss games with this Story...

    Great Soundtrack btw

  • Its very sad, yes.

  • what's SecuRomDRM? (sorry Im a noob) And I have heard about that EA has confirmed System Shock 3. I hope they at least wont unplug the RPG elements, and the horror experience, right?

  • Its a very stupid form of protection for a game.

It only allows a certain amounts of installing on a computer and also restricts how many other computers you can install it on.

  • I would like to see Front Line Assembly make the music for System Shock 3...if they will or ever will make a SS3.

  • best game ever!

  • Yep. :)

  • REINSTALLING

  • Gotta love this track! Reminds me of the "Oh Sh*t"-moments this game provided when you trigger off the alarm and hear the hybrids closing in.. Good times :)

  • Not to mention when you were sneaking around.

  • I still can't forget the first time a monster in Med Sci came to me. I was very close to literally shitting myself.

  • I played very carefully when I played System Shock 2.

I always looked around corners for security cameras, hybrids or psy monkeys.

  • They really pulled a number on you by having the first few sections monster-free. When I first played, I was like "Oh, I guess it's deserte- OH SHIT"

  • fantastic!!!
