  • Ive seen this movie about 5 times and i still get the chills when Ryan solutes to Miller. Great fuckin movie.

  • 31 people believe film isn't an art form.

  • shotgun trigger to the face of the german who had a knife or no his knife was massive no joke i dont like this film

  • i wasnt crying at the knife scene it was the ending i was crying about

  • i was crying and i didnt like that german with a knife i think they should make it that they both kill each other with a grenade wouldnt u agree

  • @liamcool12 Agreed...they shoulda had the German get shot in the head or knifed as well..I didn't like it and I don't know why they made that scene(and others) the way they did

  • this is one of the movies that made me want to cry

  • brits amercans and germams

  • Every time I watch this I can never make out what tom hanks says right before he dies at 8:22 can anyone tell me what he says?

  • @ugonnalikethis

He says, Earn this to Ryan. Deserve your life he meant

  • @DeWolfRuud I reckon he says 'Ernest', revealing his non existent wife is in fact his secret boyfriend, and as a nodding tribute to Oscar Wilde.

  • 6:15 fucking coward....

  • my favorite words of the movie, "MIKEY ARE YOU OKAY?" "i'm fine I just got the wind knocked out of me"

  • i think that means that he is highrank?

  • en verdad nose que si nadie se cuenta que cmo el viejo ryan va recoradar el desembarco si él no estuvo alli ??

se dan cuenta?? a<lguien peude responderme.

  • I just watched the movie for the first time and it really is the best war movie ever made behind platoon, had a tear in my eye in the end awsome movie!

  • Yeah, Saving Private Ryan and Letters From Iwo Jima are should have won Best Picture. Two of the best war movies ever made.

  • Poor captain...

    His captain died..

  • I must be the only person on the planet not to have seen SPR. THANKS!!!!!!!

  • whats with that little H-ish symbol on the American helmet

  • The H symbol on his helmet designates him as the Rank of Captain. One bar, like an I is a Lieutenant (bronze for 2nd, silver for 1st), H is Captain, a Bronze Oak Leaf is Major, silver is Lieutenant Colonel. An Eagle is a Colonel.

  • wouldn't that make it dangerous for him to wear it? if a sniper saw that, he'd grease a captain over a private.

  • yeah thats the bad part but hes pretty crafty. thats also why one of the privates is told not to salute to him, it'd make the captain a #1 target

  • and im sure you know this but the red + is medic

  • *sigh* shut and watch the damn clip already

  • start is classs all the stupid yanks get rote offfffffff lol

  • @thaIrishLad Dunkirk, you remember that little foray?

  • Dunkirk, what about it?

  • quite a few lads got "rote off" there didn't they.

  • I dunno, did they?

  • Yes, the entire british army was defeated by Germany and had to withdraw from mainland Europe to England.

  • Very good. What has the British army got to do with me?

  • Northern Ireland's part of the UK.

  • I'm from Ireland not the UK

  • there were 10,000 Irish men in the British army, That's why it concerns you.

  • You mean the ones who were conscripted? Or the Prody basterds?

  • @thaIrishLad No I mean the ones who volenterely left there homes and countrie's to fight in the war.

Learn some history and stop being a bigot you are a disgrace to Ireland.

  • Erm, you mean the traitors who went and fought for the British fags? Im glad they died and hope they died a bad death. Im a disgrace lol? wise up kid. Your a fag and a disgrace to Ireland if you support the British terrorists along with the fags who joined them after what they did here they're a disgrace.

  • Black men could have joined in WWII dumbass. Have you seen Miracle at St. Ana? Sadist. Those men died for you and all you care about is racism. "Boo hoo, no black people on Normandy." Seriously, deal with it. I hate how the black community self segregates itself. Example: Obama. Every time someone opposes him he calls them racist. Who is the real racist there?

  • @Lebista

Very good point. I mean, did anyone else even notice that there were no black people? I don't think it is us who is racist and focuses on the color of people's skin.

  • @BMason3604 Blacks did serve in the US but they were mostly rear echolon troops, support and logistics troops. It was wrong but it's a part of history. Some blacks did see combat but most didn't.

  • lebista you bring up a good point, black men were not ALOUD to join the army unless it was a completley black regiment. like the tuskgeegee airforce.

  • but, i completley agree whenever sum1 says sumthing directed to obama or the black community, they call it racist. but they are aloud to call us whatever they want and not get in trouble for it. THAT is what is racist. btw obama is only 1/4 black. his dad was half black and his mother was compltely white. i h8 the

  • @Lebista obama doenst blantly call them a racist, others call them that

  • It's good to see that undereducated, inexperienced, and ungrateful wastes have a forum to express opinions that aren't worth a damn. You betray your own vulgarity and shame your very name.

  • Welcome to Youtube.

  • @stickedU

    You are a fucking idiot.

  • Wait....you're saying it's racist because White people died and Blacks didn't? That might be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Blacks did server in the US army during WW2. You'll figure that out when you decide to open a book for the first time in your life.

  • My hat goes off to every American soldier who has bravely defended our country.

  • R.I.P. for the brave soldiers who defended europe against Hitler.

  • I dont get the idea of defending a country whit fighting thousands of kilometrs if the nation defended, but i do thank for everyone that helped free middle europe of nazi occupation, now we just need someone to free iraq and afganistan

  • I know why!!!! We fought thousands of kilometers because we wanted to help our friends!!!! They were our allies!!! What if your friend was getting beaten up by some crazy man ( speaking of hitler if it not obvious enough ) WOULD YOU HELP OR JUST STAND THERE AND WATCH THEM!!!! OR WOULD YOU HELP AND CONTINUE YOUR FRIENDSHIP!

  • Ummm.......what? Saddam gassed his own people. The Taliban were saints though right?

  • Saddam is dead y kno?

  • what?

  • waht?

  • Are you retarded?

  • no, you?

  • this movie is really great. if there would be 10 stars. would give them.!!! keep it up

  • Hats off for Jeremy Davies.

God do I hate him in this movie!

  • lol 2:50

  • i never understood why his hand sometimes used to shake

  • trigger finger

  • thats one strong fricken pistol XD

  • when one of the prebet remove his hat!..that what happen

  • at 0:44 on those boats in the real world, were dangerous. Because the enemy a machine gunners shoot directly at the ships as they pulled up. killing a few men when the doors opened.

  • the greatest movie ever

  • i dont want to sound like a ass or anything but there rly was only 1 funny part in the whole movie

on the beach with the 3 medics on 1 guy

Wade:i did it! i stopped the bleeding! -guy gets shot in the head- DAMNET!!!

it made me laugh but i cried my eyes out when i first watched the movie

  • nah the funniest part is when the guy picks up his arm and walks off without a care in the world lol

  • he was in shock....he lost to much blood.....thats sad idiot....

  • i know its sad someone looses their arm

but the concept of someone picking their arm up looking normal and not panaking is pretty funny plus its not real footage so y'know stop gettin vexed alot of my great uncles died in wwII..

  • Yeah. I love this movie.

  • who?

  • they guy who has his arm blown off on the beach

  • yeah dat parts awesome

  • that was the worst part!!!! That actually happened on the beaches! Their brains couldn't understand what happened.

  • Yeah, I never understood that...

  • snipers the best

  • 3:20 that is what u got to look forward to that bag

  • yeah, im 16 now but since i was 10 i wanted to join the marines and go to war. not because i wanted to kill people, i just wanted to experience war to see how it was really like. i thought i was a badass. but shit, when i saw this movie, it made me think twice. idk about joining.

  • same thing with me until i was like 10. video games make war look like fun and games, with no consequences or pain. they always make you seem invincible, and it really gives off the wrong idea, not getting the point across that you are just as easy to kill as the guys your shooting at.

  • that knife scene makes me cringe seems so painful

  • I was a teacher

  • My hands are shaking sometimes like him...

  • 2:56 - 3:13 = Aww, too bad - we warned you.

    5:51 - 5:58 = Oh shit!

    "6:15 I hated the interpretor" = Agreed....

    7:57 - 8:23 = Right on time!

A pure war movie. Amazing collection.

  • ive seen the movie but wot i dont get is WHO IS THE GUY THAT STABS 1 OF THE ALLIES?

  • the Corpal ( Corpal Upham ),being my fav in the movie,I have to say, most of the reason he was fighting he was trying to STOP the whole thing, notice when the one guy tried to leave. "Captain,do you see this, what are you going to do?" and when they were gonna kill that guy, "He say's he's sorry, don't kill him!",but at the end,he shows that he also can fight by killing some of the last Germans at the bridge

  • Man, they were slaughtered right after they beachlanded.

  • His hand shakes to demonstrate how much stress hes under and that there is constant fear of being killed or your friends being killed.

  • God, Upham was a freakin' wimp. There were people out there beating each other with their hats and there was Upham, carrying all the freaking ammo, cowering out in a corner. Great cuts, by the way. Good movie!

    EPM

  • i have negative though on upham...

but i understand what he's feeling..

    he's never been a war...

i bet myself that when i'm that war..

    i would shit myself...

i was born lucky in a free country

    Philippines

  • You're absolutely right. People at a computer or a TV can judge easy, everyone can say: "I would've shot that guy, this is a coward", but many of them wouldn't be so brave in a real war. That's why I'm glad to be born in a free country, and that's why I respect every single soldiers, who've ever fought in a war

  • Hmm, I now have a different view on it, but I still think that Upham should've atleast given the ammo to someone else instead of hiding with it. If I had to fight in a war I'd be freaked out and nervous the whole time, but the fact that I was doing good for my country would keep me fueled.

    EPM

  • 5:51 - 5:58

    That part's so itense!

He was my favourite guy :(

  • 8:47

  • amazing movie

  • they said to put the weapons down at 2:55

  • This movie is the best movie i've ever seen. Where was the bit when the translator guy shot the german who they set free.

Strange as it sounds I cheered at that bit. Fucking german got it coming to him.

  • at 2:55 you shouldve showed the part of how they accidentally knocked their wall into that house XD that was my favorite part

  • 5:52 What is tank is that and is it even possible for him to set his barrel that high?

  • i actually think that is a heavily armored half track. i think it is because a tanks tracks arent that skinny

  • Geesh, if you watch movies like this you should go back playing your chlidish war games... sigh

  • you sound like a hippy...what are you doing here?go away nobody wants to hear that shit war is needed.

  • Wow, you must be some major imbecile to think that my comments mean that I'm against the war...sigh

  • sigh

  • You can say that when your drafted to die in a foregin country, miles from home, alone and desperate.

  • yup

  • I think the knife scene was the most moving part of the movie. I would imagine that killing someone in a knife fight is life changing...

  • war is life changing silly.

  • so true

  • Agree with you. It's a scene loaded with terrible dramatic content, for a jewish american soldier is killed by a german one whose life, previously, had been spared by americans. His final effort to charge on the german and the way he tells him to shut up as the knife takes his life, are simply overwhelming.

  • Yeah

  • what is with the thing with Millers hand? I wonder what would have happened if that German hadn't shot Miller

  • His hand shakes to demonstrate how much stress hes under and that there is constant fear of being killed or your friends being killed.

  • to be honest i have been to the army, and usually in south eastern Turkey we had a lot of actions and ambush. though after a while you don't get scared of dying or anything like that... it just bores you more and more..

  • great movie but people have to remember that many soldiers were conscripted on both sides, and didn't want to be there and do the things they did, such as the knife fight. It is because of scenes such as these that discrimination happens because people never hear the whole story and the media blames everybody but themselves for war, when most of the time both sides are at fault. Peoples hatred is fuelled on by what they hear & see on the news/movies not by what THEY witness.

  • Right, over all i think it has a great message. People that are fueled by what they are fed (tv, movies, etc.) basically those who are fed parts of information along with opinion and buy into it and argue for it without knowing the whole story are over all ignorant and dumb because if they want to argue and hate for a side at least know the subject fairly well other than that, the message of the movie goes beyond history even if it may not be 100% accurate it delivers the message loud and clear

  • before people (because i don't mean that as the message. Its just a response to a comment.) i meant to say "on the other hand" changing the subject. to clarify my previous post if someone wants to act the way that you're talking about let them, because if they fail to think for themselves then its their problem.

  • so you arent scared if 20 body parts are flying around you and that people are shooting at you? hah?!

  • was Vin Desiel in this?

  • yup

  • sweet

  • I love WW2 movies and this one was good but I liked Band of Brothers so much more. The people were so much more believable before they went into combat or while they were in combat. You see like 1 person in this movie that was scared in combat and thats not realistic. Oh well good video.

  • There's many believable scared people. Hence the two that are sick on the boat. :)

I hated this film to begin with, but now i love it. Especially Private Jackson - the sniper.

    Good video!

  • Sorry I didn't say I didn't like this movie I just said that the actors weren't really believable. Even so if there are only 2 people that are scared thats still not realistic. Sorry thats just how I like movies when the actors are more believable then usual.

  • I love WW2 movies too You should see the Movies "flags of our fathers and Letters from iwo Jima" I didnt know that all this time the movie i saw and liked so much was named saving private Ryan 5/5

  • a great movie

  • i love this movie!

  • god bless the men who died for the survival of freedom

  • what a war crime. shot the germans down while they were given up at 3:18

  • They weren't given up

The American Squad and German Squad were threatening each other when another American squad came and shot the Germans from the balcony

  • ok i will shoot him 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 times then blow him up 1oooooooooooooooooooooooooo times

  • who u talking about?

  • that german nazi who is stabing that american

    guy

  • i love this video it is the greatist war video ever

  • you sir are a fool

  • Je naurais jamais une vie aussi longue pour leur dire merci

  • what the hell are you saying?

  • if some german nazi guy was stabing my friend i will shoot him.

  • heres what i would do id :kick his g*d damn ass then throw him in a pool of lava and stab him 1895739285 times and make sure hes dead

  • actually take that back chop him up and shoot the hell out of him then blow him up with a grenade then sprinkle him out of the window.

  • id stab him in the heart slwoly and bring him back alive then do that over and over 5875890475689 times

  • I'd just push him out in front of one of their tanks so it just would run him over.

  • I wuld make that nazi listen to faith hill while i hit him with the cd case

  • it sounds like you planned this. i like it.

  • Does it have to be german?

  • amazing film I almost cried after it

  • i DID cry after it well... second time i watched it, cause at the end, i put my best friend as miller, a friend ive knowon since i was born (now 16) and then think about going in war and losing him at the very end, right when things were gonna get better, u lose him, hes gone, over... but great movie wasnt it?

  • awesome film.

  • There r 2 guys around 3:29- 3:33 that walk by who are absolutly gorgeous. Random i know, this movie was amazing though, i watched it in class and got extra credit for cying.

  • Geeze graphic movie. So sad.

  • former Army Ranger & Pastor, Tom Allen finds that scene unbelievable. Allen says, "No Army Ranger would say, 'Earn this.'" "Because the Army Ranger motto for 200 yrs has been 'Sua sponte,' Latin that mean 'I chose this.' I volunteered for this. So when Private Ryan bent down, if Tom Hanks, a Ranger, would have said, 'Sua sponte. I chose this". This is free. You can't pay a thing for this. I give up my life for you.

  • im gonna kill all nazis in the world they are pure bullshit

  • They don't exist anymore, calm down.

  • best army movie ever made

  • o just to add, you missed the best part of the scene

when sgt Horvath is eating cake on the boat , right after tom hanks drinks the water

  • its not cake its DIP or chewing tobacco

  • THAT'S RIGHT YO

  • Love this movie :)

  • i dont think a sniper rifle can go through a scope

they tried it on mythbusters ... :D

  • Tht part of the film was a tribute to an American sniper who killed an enemy sniper the same way in Vietnam.

  • I think that was the idea where the myth came from, they tried it out and it didn't work tho :S .

  • yup haha i was gonna say tht but then i saw ur comment. Their was an American sniper in Vietnam who was one of the best if not THE best. After he kept racking up Viet Cong numbers and everything the Communists sent never came back, they dished out the best sniper they had. If I remember right it was a women and the American sniper only got her because during sunset the sun glistened in her scope... Thats a little wrong but its something like that

  • it can... a bullet can go through fucking glass. God damn myth busters so fucking stupid of course a bullet can go through a sheet of glass

  • I remeber reading that the NVA were so proud of their sniper and that he tracked the marine I think it was for a few days ans like you said one day at dusk the slightest glint got her killed.

  • Its will just break your scope but it wont actually go right through like butter. That's what the mythbusters are there for, busting myths.

  • a guy did it in Vietnam. They probably used too small of a caliber rifle

  • i doubt that seeing as many sport rifles are now like old army rifles, i think its the scope itself, they didnt make scopes like they do now, modern scopes have like 5 peices of glass, and the bullet gets all jumbled up in them. so it was either a one in a million or alot easier (but still lucky)

  • nah, it was with a 7.62 through a small scope.

  • when he shot the tank he was looking at it like....did i do that?...did i do that?

  • the best snipers where Australians in ww2 look up the history if ya dont believe me! it will say the same.

  • watched it in history one for ww1 which was i think All quiet on western front.....and i love this movie too.
