  • Γλυκερία

  • This is originally a TURKISH song .

  • Minooz

The Greek refugies from Mikra Asia (Turkey today) who came to Greece in 1924 wrote many songs in Turkish as that was their language then. Today we use words like aman and many others. Also some Greek refugies wrote songs in Turkish in the USA (New York).

  • @JimmyTheGreek2000 Apart from that there are hundreds of (maybe more) common words in 2 languages. I used to visit Athens regularly back in 2008-2009, I used to get a lot of familiar words while listening to people speak. Which is very normal we've been living side by side for more than 1000 years and under the same empire for many centuries

  • As I wrote bellow, many of the Greek refugies from 1923-24 spoke only Turkish, that was their language!, They did not know Greek very well. And many went to New York in 1924-25 and did wrote many songs in Turkish, There are recodings to prove it!

So we do have many common words.

However, the Greek Language is more flexible and is used in science and technology today. And 40% of the English words are of Greek origin, like One (Ena) for example.
