they have to use the same material to refine it. The reason why YOU know its the same is because we have the INTERNET. Usually they had the opportunity to go from club to club to refine their material. Now, if they do something, we post it on the internet. Not their fault. You have to remember, there is somebody, in that audience who has not heard it before. And the issue is not the joke, its the delivery.

Well, you have to think it's so many people that haven't heard the jokes they tell.

If the comedian does the same material all through a tour or for a couple of years, it's OK, it's like a band touring or playing its material. If the comedian does practically the same stuff ALL the time, one of two things is happening: either people wanna hear the same stuff (like the bands playing their hits) or he will suck and people will soon stop going to his gigs.

@enigmaoutlaw87 all comedians reuse material. writing jokes that go over well to a broad audience is alot harder than you might think. todays mass media (youtube for instance) allows us to see many clips of one persons act at diff times. no one writes new jokes for every stop during a tour. and the jokes youre most comfortable delivering are gonna get repeated at some point. it didnt seem like it back in the day cause the media wasnt like this back then.
