  • Wonderful Video - Thanks! My hand rivet gun had no instructions either so this was very helpful :)

  • i just bought one for $6 and some extra rivets, but the sucker had 0 instructions so thanks so much for helping me figure it out

  • That was awesome! Thanks!

  • thanks for the help

  • Thank you very much!

Now I will know how to use a Rivet Gun!

  • Hey look at that now i can actually use the 10lbs of rivits and 4 rivit guns i got last christmas! ha never knew how to use them!

  • very good video...im doing a BTEC level 3 in mechanical engineering and this video is very usefull...thanks

  • Great, helpful video

  • great video... so if i wanted to rivet two pieces of sheet metal together but still allow them to move freely without coming apart would i just tighten the gun down to the desired tension and then cut off the remainder? or does it have to snap off to lock it in place? thanks.

  • Very Helpful :)

  • great video

  • Thanks!

  • Great vid, thanks!

  • I think that this is a nice video.

  • 2 nuts lolz

  • Good video

  • Yeh i Rivet my Nuts togeather sometimes Also!

  • nice job. Buy air riveter? We are your right choice directly from china OEM factory.

  • i'm a dufuss this hole time i thought it was magic

  • Informative and to the point! Thanks!

  • .....anyone else here watching this because of Dead Space 2?....

  • Gracias

  • why is it in 2011 that the commercial before the actual video freezes? and my computer is really fast.

  • Same here, almost returned to lowes...you rock man. You've done a great service to mankind here.

  • THANK YOU!!!!! I was ready to drive back up to Lowes and find someone that knew how to work the gun I just bought. No directions in package??? Thanks again!!

  • Thanks now I'm part Mexican :)

  • I've pushed and pushed and even hit the damn thing with a hammer, sat on the gun, but I can't seem to apply enough force to make the shank come loose. Do I need to turn to a hack-saw to get rid of the shank or did I do something wrong? My hand riveter looks almost exactly like the one in the video, as do my rivets.

  • @baronjutter maybe your using rivets that are too narrow for your application. I think it pops off when the rivet end expands to a certain threshold, due to the pressure from the surrounding metal. If the hole is too large for your rivet, it's not going to provide enough pressure to make the rivet pop.

  • I am glad you broke that down to such a basic level. Great video.

  • Thanks for the demo. Now I'm going to fix my wife's car :)

  • My fridge handle broke. It was rivited. Drilled out the old, inserted a rivet in the gun, pressed, & there was no pop and the rivet didn't lock tight, and I had to pull the end out of the gun. Sawed the loose rivet off, & tried again. Same thing. 3rd time it worked, but the part of the rivet was stuck in the gun. I tried WD-40, tried to pull it out w/ pliers, & finally got it out by pushing another one in. Put another in. Can't get it out. Defective gun? It's a new B & D. Suggestions?

  • @scubamex if you haven't already solved it, I think you just need a larger rivet.

  • he looks like a rapist

  • Why would one want to rivet their nuts together?

  • @Matrixvibe "For demonstration purposes, so you can see both sides of the rivet, and how it operates."

  • yeah man, really appreciate your video, i always wanted a rivet gun and when i finaly got one i did not know how to use it. Thanks!

  • can you use a pop rivet and gun to secure two pieces of paper card together (250gsm similar to the thickness of gift cards) , or will the card be too weak and fold?

  • Now, the big test of "GONAD ATIONS"

Show me how to solder,,, please!!!

I was called "THE CALIFORNIA KID" in welding school back in Rome GA, after military days, including medalist awards for overhead Stick Welds.

When it comes down to soldering 2 fucking 22 Gage wires together, don't EVEN think about crossing my bridge over a coy pond of 2 Chinese meters.

    It will collapse!! /-;

    Copy?

  • Muito bom... very good ... thanks.

  • And now I can fix my car... THANK YOU!!!!

  • Great guide!!!!!!!

  • Excellent guide! Time to put on my front bumper!

  • good clear instructions, thanks

  • That Rivet Gun Dosent Looks Like The One On Bioshock 2

  • thank you for the tips

  • exactly what i needed thanks

  • Thank you for making this. I might be able to fix a mask I paid a lot of money for because of this video.

  • very informative!!! thank you

  • thank u very much

  • Thanks for making this video!

  • Thanks a lot, I was totally confused at what to do with the rivet, and how the riveter worked. But thanks to this video i understood, and soon fixed my car thank you :)

Also for the people who don't know, to remove the rivet, you simply just get a drill bit slightly smaller than the largest part of the rivet, and drill the head down, it should then disconnect from the back of the rivet and both front and back should full the floor, if not prise it off :)

  • Thanks I have always wondered how it worked. Now I know thanks to you.

  • A fine video

  • thanks for making this video

  • his face looks like my ballbag

  • this is why i love you tube....ok one of the reasons....now i know i was doing it wrong...thank you for making

  • Thanks man i need to do alot of riveting in my school

  • you should post more videos about tools and how they work !

  • very instructive. thanks

  • thanks alot man

  • It doesnt cut the shank, you get to the breaking point of a groove in the shank and it snaps off making a loud noise, hence the brand name of "Pop" rivets for the loud pop it makes when it breaks. Note you should use the same metal as the metal you are joining unless they are insulated with paint or you get galvanic action from dissimilar metals - steel rivet to join aluminum then water between starts the same effect as a battery and corrodes the metals by electrical action

  • Thanks for the video. This was very helpful.

  • Thanks for the demo. This takes the place of some welding duties for light duty fastening.

  • never used 1 be 4, now i can because of this video. much thanks

  • u can also get rivet nuts which u can screws things on.

  • Know I know does it work. What is it used for?

  • It is used virtually everywhere ... planes, cars, homes, construction, .......

  • my motorcycle muffler may I add.

  • yea, for example .....on mine as well :)))

  • And the TITANIC!

  • Pop rivets are used on many places the commercials for trains and etc. It often attaches two sheets of sheet metal. For regular metal you would use regular rivets. Regular rivets are harder to insert with a regular rivet gun. You usually have to adjust the rivet gun and it can sometimes be a bit annoying.

  • rivets, and rivet guns have many different purposes, for example, ever seen the the bottom side of a Hot Wheels? There are 2 rivets holding the car together.

  • Die cast cars arent really riveted - the top has a pin molded to it and the base has a hole and the pin sticks through the base and they peen over the pin to make it bigger. Same theory as a rivet but one side is part of the top casting.

  • oh, okay

  • Thanks a lot! Very useful for a scholar project. Spend two hours figuring out how this should be made. Now I know where to look first.

  • thnk you for that nice and easy explination sir

  • Thank you ! you helped me a lot !

  • that was the weirdest 2:09 of my entire life...

  • Why?

  • Dude, what the hell does "mundane" mean?

  • Thanks a bunch. I had to rivet two pocpcicle sticks together for a project and had no idea how to work the gun. You should have seen what I was doing before I looked up this video. To give you an idea, it involved a hammer! Thanks again.
