If you're a teacher you should really change job. Not only do you not show interest in the subject at hand, you also speak without pauses and add a little giggle and an "alright" here and there to like, prove your point. Highly untasteful.
Bob, is there a way to change the "anchor point" of the object/cube so that when you move the object, its relative point from which it is moved is (for instance) the bottom surface instead of its center mass?
i'd like to know how to move an object from a specific axis or edge or vertex and snap to another point or axis. for example, grab the cube at it's edge and move it up/down until it snaps to another point.
hey, to move the anchor point, or manipulator in maya you select the object it in object mode, press W, then press and hold D while you drag the point. took me ages to find that out haha
Had a little trouble finding the right buttons (would be really helpful if you could highlight them somehow) but i figured it out eventually. Well done!
my moving/rotating/scaling tools have turned huge!
before they was like normal, like in this video, but now the rotate tool is so big that my view is actually inside the "rotating sphere", and the scaling/moving so big that i dosent see the ends of them!!
Wow! I didn't know about the universal manipulator! That's really cool! Just learned about this today and you may want to pass this on that the QWERTY keys also select the selection tool, move tool, rotate tool, scale tool...
It would be nice if the buttons/menus/textboxes you are talking about would be maximized so they can be more easily and clearly seen. This was done for Part 2/1. Why didn't it continue with this video?
This project is the result of a research grant...the idea was to find out how effectively I could teach in this format, to actually find out what works and what doesn't. We've come to realise that what you've said is true, and we will be applying these findings to the next set of vids...stay tuned

Does anyone know how to get the main menu back (file; edit; modify; create; etc.)? For some reason I don't have one in my window. Maybe I accidentally pressed something on the keyboard? I've re-downloaded it and it's still not there. Seems quite odd to me--I have all the other menus :S
In any case; love the tutorials; I'm a visual/auditory learner so reading tutorials does nothing for me. I'm really glad you're posting these videos. Thanks!
I'm a sound engineer in a group and wasn't getting the chance to practice Maya; this has started what I hope will be a well rounded ability. Hope I can get these exercises!
The rest of the tutorials will be up soon, and I hope you choose to participate. The exercises in Part Six are to be posted back as video responses, and your contribution is essential to the development of this programme. Good luck and stay in touch.
Hello Sir,
At 4:19 you explain something about "cebro" a letter that we should put in the box.
Where's the letter located on the keyboard?

Very long winded, but still incredibly useful, considering the complexity of maya. Thanks :)
