Help thou my unbelief. She forgets that verse she just got done reading: All things work together to those who love God!! Everything happens in Gods timing, it doesn't mean it doesn't happen without trials.
I love Sully's answer. And why suffering, Michaela? Bad things happen cause we live in a imperfect world. It's NEVER God's will that people should suffer, but because of sin, good people get hurt. But God is still good and loving. And although we may pray for one thing, His plans may differ from ours. And I don't believe in spirits, but Cloud Dancing made a good point earlier about one path ending and another beginning. God allows change and challenge to mold us into better, stronger people =]
One of the things I love most about Dr. Quinn is that, while a fairly 'religious' show, it doesn't just breed miracles every episode. Real deaths, sudden tragedies and there are no miraculous recoveries after every problem.
Sully makes a VERY good point here. You have to make the best of what's given to you. In the Reverend's case, He should know that God would never do this to punish him. This is to make him stronger & give him stronger faith in God. God loves us & he would never give us something that we can't handle.

Michaela....asking those ???? of Sully won't get you the answers.....You must find the answers within yourself.....we all must.....good girl....;;I like that in you Michaela
I'm loving this show......Thank you again, Connie....
I know... I mean as much as I want to tell you my beleifs and why - And beleive me I REALLY DO-, I'm not going to because I know it'll stir up trouble. If you want to share your beleifs, take it somewhere else. This is a place to talk about the show and I knew, as soon as I heard all that spiratul stuff that everyone on the show was saying, that there would be some nasty comments. Only 2 people actually posted something ABOUT the show on here and I like them already
hmmm...i PERSONALLY favour Cloud Dancing's spiritual views...but i suppose that's the point isn't it...it's PERSONAL...for everyone, it's something different...so lets just all agree to disagree shall we?
I love how Sully is always there for Michaela. Even when she is doubting her faith and what she believes in he is there to reassure her and comfort her.
Wow ichbineinfreidenker, talk about seeing the glass half empty. There are many wonders in this world and miracles happen everyday. We as mere humans have to take the bad with the good. The proof that GOD exists is all around us. All you have to do is take the shield off your eyes and look. Best Wishes.
i totally agree w/ Dr. Mike: no god would ever allow a good person to go through something as horrible as going blind for no reason. that is proof in itself that there are not any gods at all, there cannot be.
The apostle Paul was blind. (The Bible doesn't say for certain he was blind, just afflicted in his eyes, but most think he was blind) Paul prayed 3 times for God to heal him. The last time he prayed, God told him that His strength was sufficient, and that this occurred to keep him humble. Now, I doubt a TV show can prove or disprove God, while looking at the world around us proves He exists every single day. We don't have to know His plan, just trust that He does.
for you to be an athiest is your Choice but those who fully believe in the lord know that we live according to his plan and not the other way around, there is a reason for everything and never a reason as God hating us.
ok firstly: i never once claimed to be atheist, i am not an atheist so dont you ever in yer life accuse me of bein' somethin' that i'm not. u dont know me. secondly: i simply do not know whether any god exists or not, no one KNOWS for sure. i guess that puts me somewhere between agnostic and skeptic, but i dont claim any label at all. the only appropriate attitude to have about the big questions is not arrogant certainty, but doubt. doubt is humble and that's what i am.
@ichbineinfreidenker doubt isn't humble. Humility is being modest, so I'm not sure how you can say doubt is modesty. Doubt is skepticism. By the way, to say no one knows for sure is ignorant of religion. Those of us that believe in God BELIEVE for sure that he exists. And if that belief is strong enough, then you KNOW in your heart that it's true. But, please don't say your humble b/c you doubt the Lord. Humble has NOTHING to do with doubt, but modesty.
@ichbineinfreidenker except God tests us and only gives us what He feels we can handle. The Reverend has the strength to deal with his affliction. There is bad and good in the world, but that doesn't mean that God isn't there. God will never be proven, he is believed in. Beliefs are never proven.
@ichbineinfreidenker - Not true. I feel I'm a good person and I have had tragic things happen in my life. But.. I don't discount God because of it. In fact, it's made me trust in Him more because these things have brought me closer to Him. Unless you've actually experienced God and his power in your life, you will never believe.

Once we get over the mess of reality shows, we might actually get good TV like this again. I miss this show, Little House, Bonanza, etc.

I like what cloud dancing said about God changing our direction. It's true that when one door closes, another one opens.
I don't think it's about punishment at all.
