War Horse was amazing, and I just might have to get the soundtrack! John Williams and Steven Spielberg.... A match made in heaven. I don't know if it can be considered a drama, but I love the movie Hook, and I think Spielberg did an amazing job directing for that.... Great movie, and of course John Williams again for the score!

Warhorse is a good movie but there are just way too many good movies that have come out over the past few years and movies like this is just another emotion related movie. nothing more than that. I found War Horse disappointing, to be honest. The film looked great (in that typical Spielberg way), but it wavered way too much between being an adult film and a film aimed squarely at 12 year old girls.

Let me summarize: Boy gets horse that seems like its from the land of Narnia without the talking. Boys develops uncomfortable obsession with the horse. Boy and horse get separated. Horse goes on "epic journey" which involves all of its owners getting killed and the horse pulling artillery for the German army. Eventually boy and horse are reunited as doctors and soldiers stand around crying and wounded human beings go untreated. Ends with corny sunset and Spielberg stealing your money.

But in my defense, if someone is dumb enough to like that movie, giving them a sarcastic summary is like giving them a coloring book with the color names already written in. However I thought this movie wasn't a dumb one in the slightest. I think the dumb people rule though definitely applies to movies like Transformers or Season of the Witch

Interesting, I loved A.I. and hated War Horse. I never felt pandered to so much since I saw a Michael moore film. Oh look a horse don't, you like the horse you should like the horse cause look how awesome the horse is. Also the cinematography was all over the place. Some shots were amazing while others we overlit and unrealistic. How is is face that evenly lit in a dark barn?

@vanishing446 is the cinematography your deciding factor whether a movie is good or not. cinematography is important but shouldn't be your only complaint. War Horse is an awesome movie. its not about the cinematography, it should about the story and characters and the horse's journey.

@JustAwesomeT I never said it was all about the cinematography however since that Is ultimately what I what to do for my job and what I spend most of my time working for, its something I do notice. That being said the story was overly sappy and pandering. Not to mention its ridiculous trying to make a movie about WWI and have everyone speak english and have practically no blood what so ever in the film. It trivializes the content just so more people will see it.

But the reason there is no blood is that it is supposed to be a family film (sorta). And it is an American film, so there should be no reason it should be in a different language. @JustAwesomeT A family film about WWI. Yes that makes sense, while we are at it lets make a family film about Vietnam and the Manson Family. I understand the "reasons" however in my opinion they are not good reasons. There are plenty of "american" films that have people speaking the language they are supposed to. If a film is set in one country I don't mind them speaking english however when a story evolves multiple characters who speak different languages it takes away from the characters.

But the film does mention the language issue in one scene where a british soldier is surprised by how good a german soldier is with the english language. But it is more about the horses than the war. but it was still PG-13, though there isnt that much language and the violence isn't so bad for a war film. but the film wasn't meant to show what the war is like, it is meant to be a feel-good film about a horse.

Idk. Saw it, and don't get me wrong, the cinematography was GREAT (expect anything different from Spielberg?), acting was very good, especially by the boy. He was very relatable. It tried to be too sentimental, but I can let that slide if the movie can pull it off. And that the plot was just OK to me. I liked how it followed the horse around, but it would have been nice to see what all the other characters were doing simultaneously. I kinda lost touch with them. 7/10, COULD have been better imo

For a history nut like me who loves the war movies and series he's already done but has hoped for him to cover different historical settings than WW2, it is definitely an unwelcome twist to make the movie about an animal now that he finally DID move on to another period.

I simply do not care for - a horse.

@oelergodt The horse perspective of WW1 is quite interesting.. The book was originally a tribute to horses as the unsung heroes of the war, seeing how many of died. But other than that, following the horse gives the story a unique opportunity to travel through a lot of different aspects of life in that period. Give it a chance, this is not like other "boy and his horse" stories.
