  • its the real call of duty world at war

  • In pacific Sherman tank looks Invicible (well it is)

In europe the German just laugh at sherman while inside a tiger/panther. (only to find another sherman behind them)

all im just trying to say is that while Sherman isn't the best, that's made up for it number :)

  • To those that continually run down the Sherman by comparing it with German Tigers and Panthers the argument is bogus. OF COURSE they were better tanks, but the Sherman was never designed to go up against heavier, more up-gunned opponents. It was designed as an exploitation tank, a role it fulfilled magnificently. While German tanks would suffer numerous mechanical breakdowns because of overly-designed construction the Sherman would roll on. And in the Pacific the Sherman reigned supreme.

  • @motownmaniax I don't mean to interrupt rudely but yes good points - however the Sherman Mayfly was a good example that could have a chance agans the German heavies. As for the Pacific the only real tanks the Japanese would have had a chance giving the Sherman a run for its treads would have been the Type 4 or Type 5 Chi-ri - which never saw service due to material shortages and they were reserved for Operation Olympic if it ever occured.

  • @motownmaniax Also the basic Sherman has some advantages over at least a Panther tank (and I'm not talking costs, numbers or reliability or flank tactics) The Panther for example suffered final drive gear problems while the Sherman had better double gears. Also while the Panther was better at pivot turning the smaller SHerman was better at close-range comb at and had a faster turret. Lastly while the PaK/KwK 42 of the Panther had superior AP - it is likely the Sherman's 75mm had better HE

  • @motownmaniax as the 75mm of the Panther's PaK/KwK 42 had a longer barrel hence more velocity and hence a bigger propellant charge with thicker casing; sacrificing some HE work for better AP and velocity so while the Panther's gun no doubt could still have a useful HE shell it is likely the SHerman's gun carrying thinner casing but more explosive charge would deal abit more damage but again who cares when it comes to tank-tank battles - hope I'm making some sense...not that anyone asked ...

  • @HeirofGojira91 Agree, Heiro. The last Sherman model of WW2, M4A3E8 Easy Eight, was as good as any Axis competitor in the same class. With an improved 76mm gun and engine it actually bettered Soviet T34/85's in Korea. Was the Sherman the best tank of WW2? No. Was it the most versatile and mechanically reliable? Absolutely. That's all I'm trying to say.

  • @motownmaniax Fine suspension with the 76mm M3 Easy 8 - personal favorite Sherman of mine and many - second only to the Mayfly Sherman with the QF17 pdr but thats just personal preference. The Cromwell is also another underlooked tank in WWII; while it was outshiend by not just the German heavies but also the Sherman and the '34/85' - the Crommwell was among the British tanks in WWII to actually achieve a balance between reliability, speed, firepower and adequate protection!

  • @motownmaniax

Don't forget also the vastly improved suspension, lower ground pressure and they also increase it's frontal protection.

The sherman was a workhorse that could easily and quickly be adpated to a multitude of different tasks.

  • Mitsubishi vs Chrysler? No contest!

  • 0:12 Son of a bitch those are Jap tanks :D

  • Sherman win!.fatality!! XD

  • Our American M4 Sherman could destroy any Japanese tank with a single 75mm round due to the Japanese armor on their tanks only made to stop small armies fire

  • Thank god for torrent files.

  • tiger tank was the best tank during ww2.sherman got mekred in europe

  • @canaanclb yeah man i love american weapons and stuff but when it comes to WW2 takes im all for the tiger tank... its just pure fact the tiger tank was the best

  • @Deathofblades He says Hap load which is probably that guys name then maggot then fire

  • @Tofu64Vagine Half load! Hanging! Fire!

  • As a soldier of the U.S., you had a higher chance of being a casualty in the Pacific then in Europe.

  • KILL STEAL MOAR

  • In Japan, the the Sherman was like a Tiger tank, and the Ha Go (idk its name, might be Chi Ha or something) was basically a Panzer II :P

  • @Deathofblades

He's probably saying HE load, which is High explosives.

  • @Deathofblades they aer saying half because they round is half in the barrel befor they drop it in fully

  • @pie5526 Thanks for being the 1000th person saying this over and over again.

  • @Deathofblades you shpuld know

  • @pie5526 Be reminded of this 1000s of times? Cool assumption bro.

  • @Deathofblades you should of known in the first place

  • @pie5526 So suppose I were to learn Derivatives from Calculus and asked a question on what exactly he meant by that one step in the example he showed us. Would the professor/instructor say I should have known in the first place?

Please stop. You're not helping at all but whipping up another pointless Youtube argument.

  • 1:23 nice shot Leyden

  • I'm impressed that they used authentic Japanese tanks for this.

  • Orders are:

    0:48 "Half-Load!"

    0:51 "Hanging!" or "Hang it!"

    0:52 "Fire!"

1:01 "Drop Two-Five!" Probably, might be something else, but he wants the mortar to adjust fire.

    Then it repeats somewhat.

  • @Comptech224 Drop two-five I think would be adjusting the angle or degrees the mortar is firing at.

  • @AUG351 Close. "drop 2 5 means drop the range by 25 m.

  • @Toddinfantry So could the sight on the 60mm mortar tell them completely the range and everything or would they have to do some calculations in their head.

  • Comment removed

  • @AUG351 No the sight doesn't give range. In each box of ammo is a range card. This card would provide the correct elevation and number of propellant charges (increments) to use to get to a desired range. You input the angle of fire and then level the bubbles on the site. When the bubble is in the lines you have the correct elevation. Range is found with the Mark 1 eyeball or taken from map readings. The site also has a small window to look thru to set the deflection (left / right). con't...

  • @AUG351 con't... the window has a wire running vertically inside that is then lined up on aim stakes or any non-moved object. Also used for "direct lay" which means you can see the target such as this vid. The combination of the two, elevation and deflection puts the rounds on target. This is a very quick simple explanation, if I have confused you, my apologies. It is kind of tough to explain the gunners operation with so few words and no pictures.

  • @Toddinfantry Thanks, I've seen diagrams of the sight before but its quite a complicated device. So basically in the vid they would be using non moving objects like a tree or a building for determining the range.

  • @AUG351 The non moving objects are used for deflection ( left/right). Range in this vid would be determined by just looking, after you shoot enough you get very good at judging range.

  • @Comptech224 You got it right. drop 2 5 means drop the range 25 m.

  • @Comptech224 He says "Drop Two-Five!" for drop 25 meters

  • @Deathofblades As a mortarman and a Marine, he is saying "Half load"..."hanging" (as in ready; ready to fire"...then the command to "fire". Dropping warheads on foreheads. Yut

  • @Deathofblades Im pretty sure that its hang load and hang fire or something like that? I know from the john wayne movie green berets (great movie imo) that they say hang when the shells ready, as in its hanging at the top. So Im pretty sure its the same here.

  • @Deathofblades they're saying "3 rounds of HE"

  • im american but for wwii tanks i deffinatly 100% give it all to the german tiger tank, that thing was awesome

  • @deadseason2 yeah, you could knock out those japanes tanks with a grenade, but the german tiger couldn't even be disabled if 4 sherman tanks surrounded it and shot it at point blank range.

  • @canaanclb do you want to get that close?!

  • oorah marines

  • Jap tanks were made out of paper mache?

  • @redsoul888

Armed with a 0.0000000000000000000003 mm cannon

  • naming these after call of duty world at war lol

  • @Deathofblades He is saying "hang load" (this tells the mortarman to hold the round in the tube), the mortarman then does this and reports "hanging"( this lets the gun controller know he can order "fire").

  • @Donryall No he is saying "half load". Means load the round half way into tube. Full load means drop the round in the tube and it can be trigger fired.

  • @Toddinfantry

Perhaps Canadian and American 60mm fire control orders differ slightly in wording but the end result is always the same:)

  • @Donryall They may indeed differ some. I have never shot with the Canadians. Pretty much all the others I have shot with use the same commands, with obvious slight differences. You are right on though, no matter how the fire mission is called and the guns respond, those downrange will know the 60s are on them. Nothing sends the "rain of death" better than a 60.

    Semper Fi !

  • they should make a movie that focuses on tanks.

  • like CoD 5

  • In europe Sherman = shit

    in asia Sherman = god

  • @11Cheesewaffles well, yea cuz i mean look at the jap tanks and german tanks lol

  • @11Cheesewaffles Very good...Sherman win!!!!!

  • @11Cheesewaffles more exactly: The sherman tanks fitted the clima... if you used the tanks they used in europe in Asia, they wouldn't last 5 minutes... why do you think the major of the tanks japan used in the pacific campaign was light tanks?

Japan used their heavy tanks in China because there they had a plain clima.

The war material Japan used was the best of the kind for their area, why should they use heavy tanks in a area where they would have stuck in 5 minutes? lol

  • @11Cheesewaffles and for your info as your obvious not intelligent, the tank Japan used in this video is a light tank.

And another thing, when it comes to tank vs tank the first tank hitting the other wins, as you saw the jap tank was perfect against the infantry and was shot from "behind" so they didn't fight each other, how can you then say the sherman tank was better? LOL

And you think america won because of better equipment? read more! you won because of quantity! LOL

  • @GuitarNiimura And fuck for brains, I'm not American, so maybe you should read up before you pass judgement

  • @GuitarNiimura What the fuck have you got stuck up your bum, it was quite cleary a joke. Just realised I'm on the worng account so don't get confused.

  • He says, "hang it" , or "hanging"

to let the crew leader know it's hanging in the tube. When the order to fire is given, he drops it down the tube.

  • @BirgirZ Only 3 pages of comments but feel free to look and see how many people tell me the same thing. I think I get the point....

  • @Deathofblades "Hang It" Hang the round in the tube ready to drop. "Fire" is drop the round which fires the lifting charge and propels the round out of the tube. This cadence is still used by mortar crews today. Look up mortars here on YouTube. Pretty hard trying to knock out a moving tank with a mortar. The Sherman did a good job cleaning up resistance in this scene.

  • @Deathofblades They're saying "Hang it" and "Fire" as in hang the mortar shell over the barrel before dropping it and fire is obvious

  • @Goal10ding Only 3 pages of comments but feel free to look and see how many people tell me the same thing. I think I get the point....

  • @Deathofblades They said the same thing in Band of Brothers when they were using a mortar.

  • Whenever you sees a tank around you, you will weirdly feel a sense of secure and the spirit to fight.

  • @Deathofblades when sledge puts the round to the tube, he says, "hanging!"...meaning hes ready to fire, but hes a only an assistant gunner and can only fire when the team leader says so

  • yeah... mr.Sherman says: DIE!!! :D

  • why they dident name it Chi-Chi -_-

    much better then chi-ha

  • more like peleliu airfield scene

  • @MrMovieDirector94 wut u think is hah get, they are saying hang it. that means fireing now

  • @Deathofblades its jus slang

  • Half-Load, Have-it, Fire.

  • @JoeSkylynx I believe he said Hang it. But Half Load is right.

  • half-load .. you can't understand?

  • @20nineaug94 Youtube has a reply system. You can't understand?

  • @Deathofblades i think hes saying half load, which means, get ready to put the mortars in, instead of saying hah get, saying hanging, which means mortars in position to drop into the tube

  • @KangOhDayumn Check the older comments. A lot of people already told me what it was. From what I've heard. It should be Half Load and Hang it.

  • @MrMovieDirector94 Too fake. The M1 had knock out Tigers (from the side) which is 80mm thick. The Japanese tank, properly had around 40/50mm of front armor, would stand no chance.

  • Japanese tanks were vastly inferior to allied tanks during the second world war. They were fast, but poorly armed and their armor was bolted (a major flaw in all their designs...) And only the Chi Cha was worth using by the beginning of the war. Cha Go was obselett by 1940.

  • SO CUTE CHI HA

  • @shootstuffup PfcFlame said it was Hang it and I think Half-load is right.

  • @Deathofblades Hangit

  • @Deathofblades all i kno is thnx god for those shermans or else they're screwed

  • @MrMovieDirector94 Pretty sure he's saying "HE load".

  • @MrMovieDirector94 Lol how come you named these after missions in CoD?
