Before watching the video, I thought this was going to be a touching story of how something happened to him that got him on the streets. While watching the video, "I quit school in grade 8". Stops video.
The reason society forgot about him isn't solely because we're just numbers to them. To drop out of school at such a low level I think is just foolhardy and destructive.
"... but they're not looking after the people that made this country. I was born in this country, my dad helped build this country."
Society looked after his father yes, does one really inherit worth from just that? For being so eager to work, I'm curious what lead to his unemployment.
@MushDanger, That's not nice Ricky, and don't be dissing prison. You can take a shower for two and half or three hours.
Bubbles really is my hero and I feel for each of these people, I really do. It could be me or you or one of my kids, it's scary and it's wrong and it sucks when the fat cat fucks sit on their pile of gold and spend whatever it takes to insulate themselves from the humanity. You know I'm right and it is wrong.
I 2 am 50,veteran, i have been homeless 4 going on 17 yrs. It has bcome big business! Corruption is rampent. I have worked n shelters, clothing banks,& food pantries,&soup kitchens & the staff, their friends, employee's go through it,then the homeless get what's left. Some such as tulsa day ctr. take n donations then send some 2 goodwill 2 b sold back 2 the public!
if you "will do work" then get a job... there's people/companies that will help you get back on your feet you just can't give up and say that to an extent
I'd be sad for him, but he's exhibiting the typical behaviour of someone who's in that situation - he wants all of these things, but the reason he doesn't have them is everyone else. The government and corporations, not mistakes he made himself. That is what bothers me. At least the last fellow was honest and understood it was his addictions that were keeping him in his situation.
@TheRDM20 would you also blame him for being bullied and beaten and home? Yeah, i guess it's all his fault. Some are just born worthless and deserve beating, but what the hell, everyone has the same opportunities in life and everyone are born in to a safe middle class home YEAH RIGHT? Get real ya fucking douche fucker
No it's not, shut the fuck up. Canada has an amazing government compared to other countries. This guy should have thought about his future before he fucked it up. How can you expect the government to come and rectify your mistakes?
Good interview -- more people need to see this. As our economy unwinds further, more and more people will find themselves in this situation. It's frustrating that people are still fighting for stable housing (why isn't this a human right?) while pouring billions into illegal wars half-way around the globe.
I am yet to see anything else like this on YouTube other than Marc Singer's Dark Days. You have captured Darryl and your other interviewees with incredible precision and compassion. This interview haunts me.
This is a great video - very well done. It is awesome to hear the perspective of someone actually living on the street, instead of reading about it in some sort of publication. Well done, keep it up!
This is BY FAR the best interview I have seen on YouTube regarding this subject. Thank you for this amazing interview. Can't wait for more of these interviews!
hopefully you at least gave him something...
