I remember doing a RAS (replenishment at sea) with Ark Royal back in 1988, we were doing 28 knots alongside her as she was launching aircraft. I had just come off watch in the Boiler room of our ship (Kiwi Leander class frigate) and got to watch a fair bit from our Helo flight deck area. Usually we broke away from the ship supplying us but in this case it was Ark Royal that broke away from us. Was awesome to see a ship of that size moving at speed, wish video Camera's were so cheap back then

@samskateboardvideos we are building two new queen elizabeth class carriers for a reason. we have 3 air craft carriers, one is on standy and two are active. i imagine when we have the two new carriers we will keep one of our ageing carriers on display, and another in storage, or sell it to pay for the new ones. stop focusing on the negative and see the positive.

just to clear up no Ark Royal is not the flag ship of the Royal Navy it is the flag ship of the fleet.

Victory is the flag ship of the Royal Navy.

There was more than one fleet though, there was a red a blue and a white fleet i think each with there own flagship, HMS warrior besides HMS victory was the flagship of the Red navy
