  • Can we call them Muscle Bikes? well thats how i refer them? basically big powerful naked sport bikes, but not really a sport bike with a cruiserish look? the Vmax is a muscle bike too =P

  • What is the point of a long term test, or any test, when you modify the bike? It should be as it was on the showroom floor, that's what people will be purchasing.

  • @maddasher123 true, but normally people would modify their bikes after purchasing them. I would.

  • I took your advise and use all modes :)

  • Size 14 feet!!! What trainers do you wear? Adidas Scooner or Nike Barge? :P Oh yeah.... nice review too

  • big massive fuel tank..

  • i'm 6'4''. Is it small for me? how about my knees?

  • This bike is very high on my wish list

  • thanks for the review mate. good to hear that your only worries are a bit of paint and dust caps ;)

  • All of those rides and tours and still only 3300 miles? That's not a whole lot =P

10 bhp increase aftere fitting the Termi's? I don't think so. 5 at the max. And those plugs? Ugly as shit!

Still, at the end of the day you can do whatever the fuck you want to do ;) Still a good review though and damn, I would love to ride a Diavel some day. I only sat on it and it felt extremely comfortable and relaxed.

  • Great video! Really want to get one. Does it require a lot of maintenance more than other sport bikes? My Ducati shop is far and I would like to avoid having to bring it in for constant work.

  • I'm 6'4 and look like Bowser when riding most machines except big trailies. Do you have any idea how folk my height get on with it please?

  • Did you find the bike felt like it was understeering a bit once the tyres were a bit worn? Or did the Ohlins get fitted before this?

  • Very nice review. Thanks. I want one !

  • good review mate....

  • can u install clip ons

  • Fantastic video. More please.

  • Good review

  • that's a nice looking machine and a lot of power...

  • if someone is looking close enough to notice all your 'bling' they've probably nicked it...

  • thx

  • Let's see a topcase on it! :-)

  • My reluctance to ever getting a ducati was the fear of having sticker shock during the ownership period of "feeding" this mistress. love em, but

I'm the kind of guy that buys a bike with the intention of keeping it forever, so I have huge concerns about bikes and their reliability well beyond the end of the extended warranty period.

It is good to hear that your experience so far has been a positive one. 3,000 miles isn't that much so keep piling on the miles and report. So far it sounds gr8t.

  • @gurney85 A Ducati is like an expensive whore , you know you payed to much but the ride was worth it.

  • @gurney85 On a more serious note , the servicing costs are high I,ve found for ducati ownership.

A friend of a friend just road his diavel from perth to east coast australia ,a bloody long way and says its very comfortable with no complaints.

  • @binky4647 trick is I already have 3 mo'sickles and honest to goodness find that feeding bikes is more expensive than feeding the full sized sedan. Pay to play I understand but this motorcycle love is gonna drive me to the poorhouse.

No denying all the great reports about this bike, no denying at all but honestly still have struggles with 'over styling' that likely immediately vanish once sat atop and piloting.

"styling"...and I love ugly bikes. Rocket, speed trip, etc..

  • How much did you spend on the bike in total ?

  • i would like to see it flying...

  • Excellent long term report. Ian Jubb, you did a fantastic job, I like the clarity and the lucid details that you spoke about.

  • Maybe Ducati will produce a special clown shoe protector for those flippers.

  • Why do people fight over MC brands? No brand is 'the best' and why the hell would you care if some other guy loves Ducatis while you love Jap bikes? Each to his own, and neither opinion is worth any more or any less than the other. It's all personal taste and everyone is different, which is why there are so many different types of motorcycles. In my opinion, all of them are awesome in their own ways. Ride on.

  • nice shoes kid.

  • I am Italian and I'm sorry but I hate how all you non-Italian people say Termignoni... only Italian people can do it right..I'm sorry but it's so...

  • Terminioni could do better its full exhaust system, this is a eyesore for Diavel's layout.

  • thx :)) i think i will...

  • Size 14?! You should be grateful your toes don't touch the tyre while manoeuvring the bike.

  • Thank you for a proper review!

Not many reviews are proper these days.

    It's a "like" from me!

  • His long time test bike for the year... lucky bastard! lol

  • Question: Do you wear a tinted visor so people don't recognise you riding such a fugly bike? :)

  • @YarekBalear Are you kidding? For what it is, it is fucking gorgeous!

  • get this guy on camera more, great vid.

  • @abazhlek yeah it is ugly but I bet it rides well!

  • @alexskylarking 1198 isn't ugly and rides well

  • Didn't the Vmax start that genre? How is it different from the classic Yamaha?

  • in between is a muscle bike surely?

  • @fafpak to be honest i couldnt give a shit about wsbk, the fastest bikes in the world and best riders are in motogp and winning motogp is far more valuble then a cheap wsbk title. Also Ducati superbikes arent in competitive in reviews and im not surprised they are all talk and about looks. Japanese are all about performance which is why japanese superbikes smack the shit out of ducatis every single year.

  • @ballereast cough

which bike is leading current wsbk championship??

which bike has the most titles in wsbk??

yep, you guessed it, its ducati

  • @ballereast Agreed on the fastest bikes best riders but MotoGP is not a true representation of real world performance. Sure some tech trickles from MotoGP to production bikes but MotoGP is primarily about 3 things 1) rider 2) team and 3) R&D $ the company has to back their "factory" (a small unit charged with 1 prototype). Honda has more of 3 than anyone hence fastest bike this year. On the flip side Stoner (and Capirossi) won the constructor championship for Ducati when he was with them

  • How much dose that thing cost, in.us $

  • @icouldcareless62 around $20,000

  • Damn, the sky is blue, and the sun is shinning....O_o

every time I watch a video from you guys, it's grey and raining lolll.

  • 3k miles in 9 months? I had that on my new Triumph in two months, and it didn't work for two of those weeks.

  • @aluisious 3k since May not January. The bike didn't launch until February then became available in April/May.

  • Thank you for your good review!

I have mine since february 2011 and 15000 km done.. (lot of free time)

and I think you really said everything I would say...

    Well Done!

  • this VMAX is a sport bike or i meant Diavel. it just has a taller tank. if u look at the back portion of the bike all of it is sport bike dimensions. if the handle bar was placed the same way as a sport bike this would not be very much different to a sport bike, only the tank would be awkward. i don't see no new genre here, it's basically a super naked

  • gooooood vid (Y

    )

  • it's ugly :0

  • @S01NOR shut up

  • what is the seat height on this thing?

  • @aaarsix As standard it's 770mm (30.3in) but i have fitted the Ducati Performance Touring seat (the only taller seat available) which makes it 40mm taller.

  • @motorcyclenewsdotcom can the Ducati Diavel sit two or is it a bike for only one rider?

  • @filomanamamama

2 can sit. there is a cover over the back seat. i once found a clip (can't remember it anymore) where it shows how u change it from seat to cover. very simple and easy.

  • It looks siiiiiiiick! Can I have one please!

  • '' Its a Ducati.. Its all About Performance ''. HAHAHHAHA funniest thing ive heard !

  • @ballereast lol i agree

  • @ballereast why??? O.o

  • @ballereast it's true, ducati it's all about performance because it doesn't make anything else, try to do a corner with a ducati or a japanese bike, see who's faster on the road...

  • @Blade4613 Test ride one, you'd be surprised with this bike.

  • @motorcyclenewsdotcom lol ok, but i'm staying on the same idea as ever, ducati is a good bike, with the best noise of them all, but there are lots of better bikes aout there...

  • Not really a bike question.....what camera/microphone did you use to film the report? Nice picture quality....and sound was good.

  • @1jbunceiii It was shot on a Canon 5D Mk2, sound was internal mic.

    Cheers

  • thats a one sexy bike, very futuristic...look at that seat

  • your a lucky bastard!

  • I heard that once the rear tire wears out, it becomes a somewhat bad ride and handles a lot worse than before. Any comments on that?

  • But the most important thing about owning a Ducati is, has it gotten you laid?

  • Nice! But the multistrada still seems a bit nicer ;)
