i think it was a right thing to kill that bug because i looked it up and that is a red striped fur catepilar and if they touched you and like let there oozes out on you you woulda been dead (unless you got to the hospital on time) :D

I never understood bug squishing outside,, inside maybe, but not in their own habitat! LOL
