  • CLassic shit

  • I love Patrice.

  • People can say what they want about sampling but I discovered great funk, R&B and soul artists because of them. I would always look at the sample and try to find it and most often than not fall in love with the original track.

  • @NickD25 Bless, Nick D I can't begin to tell you haow much I agree. Hip Hop saved the old school. This great artist in particular owes much to hip hop. Most of the artist who sample great music end up making great music for themselves. You told the whole truth Nick! Praises

  • one of her best!!!

  • ahh so many memories ! life was really good when this album came out

  • Truly beautiful - nearly thirty years on and this song still touches new generations of listeners. :-)

  • It´s timeless music!!!

  • just dnt make talented black women like this anymore

  • I LOVE THIS BIG INFLUENCE IN MY MUSIC..

  • I just came across this song and I'm so happy I did! This is Great!

  • Love this song. I had this album back in the day!

  • This song is a helluva composition. It evokes so many things.Songs like this help a brotha get into love more.

  • might be my favorites sample from the 90s.

  • good

  • one of best female voices!

  • Super Cute Female Human Being

  • Hmmm Lovely!

  • You forgot LiL 1/2 Dead sample this also on his 1994 album.

  • Str8 4rm Da Soul Skool

  • love the guitar playing on this.

  • THANK YOU !!!!

  • Classic...

  • so good

  • She is a musical genius, love her! Good music is therapy!

  • I feel you half dead was spittin' some gangsta on his track lol!!

  • I love this 1 and Smooth's......different era's and different types of music, Smooth was hip hop and Patrice is r&b soul but both sound good..... I LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • So who's sample do you think is better? Smooth's or Lil 1/2 Dead lol?

  • @logoicthoth both of them was tight, but i gotta go with lil half dead!!!

  • gangsta - take u round the hood

  • Absolutely beautiful - not heard for a while [many years] and then sprung up 'after' Remind Me................still smiling!

  • Mobb Deep sampled this too for Temperatures Rising

  • @Princec5 Temperature's Rising is a classic, Hieroglyphics also sampled it back in 91 on a joint called Everday of the Week. peace

  • Pure class - this is timelessly great.

  • Shut the HELL up.. I didn't know this was sampled. I guess cause I was younger and grew up when "Smooth's" song was popular. I'm about to pull this album out and play it in it's entirety. I love Patrice.

  • i wanna lose my virginity to this song... damnn

  • YOU KNOW GOOD MUSIC! THIS MAKES ME THINK ABOUT WJZZ IN DETROIT! I MISS THAT STATION SO MUCH.

  • Classic R&B singer...alot of HipHoppers sampled this.

  • No one could compose those sweet smooth ballads like Patrice, She is truly a extremely talented composer, musician and singer who had a unique sound of her own. A true original who didn't sound like any one else. Something that is almost non existant among todays popular singers.

  • Never got the recognition she deserved this is a talented woman

  • CLASSIC ALBUM SHE HAS TO BE COUNTED AS A GREAT ONE ROBERTA,PATRICE,ALISHA THE LADIES OF MUSIC

  • This is REAL r&b

  • i would love for Beyonce to do a make over of one of Patice Rushen's tracks like the Dream. i love that song.

  • The 80's and 90's were THE BEST!

  • @lilhavin Yo I agree I would like to go back in the 80s a lil older and right into the 90s supreme eras to me especially the 90s.

  • Patrice Rushen is one of the most sampled artist in Hip-Hop and R&B. Many arists have sampled her music Will Smith (Men in Black Theme), R. Kelly (Born in The '90s), Junior Mafia (I Need You Tonight), Smooth (Strawberries). They've used "Forget Me Nots", "You Remind Me" and "Where There Is Love" for their songs.

  • Q-tip is underrated as a producer. But real beat junkies know he turned the babies on to Patrice Rushen and that Minni Riperton sample on "Lyrics to Go".

  • @ElectAPromQueen Of course..gotta love Q-tip and what you said was so true..he is soo underrated..Lyrics to Go is still my joint to this day:)..I also think that Patrice Rushen is underrated also

  • This is one of many favorites I have from this talented "little lady", the groove is so smooth and mellow, with a beautiful melody, along with her sultry vocals, this is music, quality 80's music that is, no doubt about it!!

  • She's so sweet. I love her voice. She's not jaded yet. I really admire Ms. Rushen. Look up her bio; she's awesome and gifted.

  • this sing is tight, for real!

  • smooth Patrice Rushen! You were a very blessed woman with so much talent! ")

  • Thanks for posting this. I own a battered copy of Straight From the Heart and this particular track reminds me of a lovely afternoon spent reminiscing about blokes, plotting our future holiday and just revelling in the company of the kind of good friend who really understands you with my best mate at the time, in Whitley Bay, North East England. We just kept pulling the arm back and repeating the whole album!
