Hey Brian mighty nice of you to do all these tutorials! Thanks every so often I pick up something new before I pick up the equipment. One question I have on this video - where is the REVO III placed? You obviously don't want this in the middle of the dance floor - someone may take it home ;o)
When LED's can do this for 99 dollars per fixture, and with enough brightness for the (majority of) schools and hotels that do NOT allow fog or haze, then call me.
honestly: this is basically a 70's Radio Shack color organ effect: boring and predictable after 30 seconds.
LEDs are DIM and lack "motion" of the 90's fixtures.
On the whole, we have taken a giant step backwards with these clever new LEDS: 3 colors that "blink on and off" in tacky shapes..with no beam movement.
Brian - I have 2 Chauvet LX5 lights, but I'd like to pair it with something that shines straight laser type lights, not circles or patterns - What would you suggest? Please help, you know what your doing and I know nothing. Its just for house parties.
I have this light and its really nice to have. I usually sit it on the floor and point it at the ceiling, and it covers a HUGE area, but works great in the center of a truss too! Come's in really handy at gigs where folks dont want to pay for lights, but I know the gig will blow without them. I take this one light and turn it on and its like a lightshow in a box, all by itself.
i dont care about "bulb life" or power consumption led lights look cheap, they are no gobos just fixed lights, yes you can make patterns but its just not the same, i shall stick to my gobos and bulbs that only last a few months or so thankyou :)
You seem to know what your doing.. can you please help. I was told that you cannot get colors other than RED GREE AND BLUE unless you are using a DMX mixing board. We are looking for our first light. It would be nice to get all the colors. When you said stand alone mode, I take it that means no DMX involved? I want an LED light that will do what you display here, but also maybe just project a static color pattern on the wall. Thanks for any advice.
Hey Brian. My husband has this light, but we lost the manual for making the different patterns. Do you know where we could find it online? Which settings do you have it set on for the patterns in the video?
Hi Brian - love the video - I am run 2 of these linked - depending on the room/hall depends on the program I use to get not too much light.
But I like the old moon flower effects but they are heavy and use lamps. Can you suggest something similar that uses LEDs. Most LED lights flash rather than using moving parts. This has advantages but is not the same. I like the AmericanDJ TriLED but they are not linkable and have no programs. Can you suggest any alternatives??
I don't know how important it would be to link these kind of lights, but nothing right now comes to mind. The Tri LED lights are a great series. You'd have to have one to appreciate them
Brian, I have seen a number of your video's and I must say you do a great job. I really like it when to take a LED light apart and then show all the ways you can work it, Thank you for your time, all the info is very useful.......Dave
hey it looks allmost exactly the same as the ACME immpossible led the patterns look the same with 4 red leds in the middle the next "ring" is white then the next is blue then green then finally red again
So glad I found you! I'm constantly debating what kind of lighting fixtures to pick up, so it's nice to find someone who gives you all the specs and a demo. Very informative. I've been hemming and hawing about the Revo III & Vue III. I'm going Revo after watching this vid. Thanks, Brian!
Has anyone started hacking on the REVO III, Messenger, Mystic yet? Maybe changing out some of the LED colors, since for text messaging having a couple of standard colors or even putting tri-color LEDs in place.
I want to put this in my store not a club to attract attention. Does this light function with no music? I mean like a stand alone no beat no music mode with nothing attached. Plug the power cable and select some show mode and go kind. Any information would help. I cannot have music in my store for the light. thanks
Hey man this light is sick!!! ive only just started and i feel like im a million miles away!! ha ha!!!! how much does something like this cost!!! been watching all ur vids!!! given me lots to think about!!! but very helpfull!!! Top Man!!!!!
we are making a projec miniature disco bar, what certain LEDs that we can use to make our project perfect? we want some rotating leds and laser lights in our project, but we dont know how to do it... we are using LM3915 ic to synchronized the lights into the input music....thanks.. can you help us???
Brian, great video and I particularly like your comments about the longevity of LEDs compared to conventional lights. The Revo III is a best seller for me and it just gets more popular every day. While it can be used without, when programmed with DMX the effect is all the more incredible, especially when used with other DMX LED lighting!
hey brian, does this light strobe automatically in the microphone mode? i don't think i noticed it that well if it happened. also, i am debating between the mystic led and the revo III, since you have looked at both, i was hoping you would have an opinion?
Hi Brian, just purchased this light. I love it! Had a question. Is there a way to set it up for just white. I am thinking for First Dances, Parent dances, etc. Thank you!
Chauvet makes some nice products as well. I own the Color Splash Jr lights and also have a Vue III. Most of the ADJ stuff seems to be much brighter, though.
Great i have now buy one of these revo 3 lights. I will test this light at the Garden and make a video and post it on youtube hopefully it works outdoor so good like indoor :).
Hello Brain, the revo 3 effects looks great. But is it also a good light for Rooms with a small height? Your Room`s height looks high :D. I am Planing also to make a Party in a Garden maybe this light is a good option for outdoor activitiy?
$249.99 US on Musician's Friend. I would put a link here to it, but YouTube won't let me. Go to: musiciansfriend dot com, and search: American DJ Revo III LED DMX Effect Light, and it will take you to it.
Thank You for a very informative and interesting video. I have the Chauvet VUE III, and now, after seeing your video, i am definitely gong to get the Revo 3 as well.
Hey brian, we need ur advice, We have in our mobil drive in show now: 4* Par 38 short 2* cheap moonflowers 1* smokemachine and some few other small effects. We are going to invest some new lights but we wondered: What will be a wise choice: optoin 1: 8* Par 58 + 2* 1000W strobe option 2: 2* ADJ Revo LED Scanners option 3: 1* Revo3 LED. The goal is for partyareas around 20 by 20 meters. we have for the lightning 2 T bars, and 1 3m wide truss. Thanks in advance, DanceMania ®
Okay, the Revo and the Vue obviously are at the top for LED Lighting - but which is better, and why? There seem to be a million opinions out there that the Revo is better than the Vue and visa versa - so what do you think Brian?
Hey Brian, I have a question for you: I'm going to buy the LED DMX Scanner ADJ Revo Scan (twice), but I wondered: Can you link a revo scanner with the Revo||| by Master/Slave function? That would look nice I think when you control the scanner and the Revo||| will do the same.
I just let you a comment about that. I'd buy mine at idjnow dot com. Not sure what they have them priced at but they are very reasonable. Check the site
I got this light 2 wks ago and gigged it at a friend's party. everyone just sprawled out on the couches and floor and tripped out on the lights. Love this light! need to get a remote controller. thx for the great review!
that is one sweet light man! I really think the little bit of extra wattage compared to the Vue III make a big difference in brightness. Gotta get me this one. Thanks for reviewing it for us Brian!
So Brian, if you have not left yet for your gig tonight, can you run both the Vue III and the Revo III while you are there? Is the Revo III actually brighter? I had supposed it was not as bright, in consideration of the lesser number of LEDs. I look forward to seeing your next gig log :)
The Revo looks a lot brighter than the Vue to me. The LEDs also seem sharper. I did run the light last night but only the Revo. I'll get that video posted tonight after I take care of some daddy stuff.
The same as far as coverage, that is. It looks much brighter and sharper. The red seems about the same color, but the green, blue and white are quite brilliant
Its cute but theres TONS of light leakage around the edges of the lens which is a downer. Lack of focusing is also a shame. I doubt thats going to stop this light from replacing derbys for mobile djs. I like the dimming. Its a shame that the ADJ Revo Scan doesn't dim because that would have been a light that I may have concidered. Anyway I'm glad you like your new toy. :) I'm still n-joing my new Spectrum LEDs.
great vid on this light Bri...one question...where do you set this up at a gig? Floor pointing up to ceiling? I watched your vid in the "domes", but didn't see where you set up your other light. Thanks again Bri...awesome vids!
You'll see in the next gig video. An effect like this just needs to be pointed upwards. Anything around table height should be fine. Many people do point these downwards. I'm just taking the advice of other Youtubers pointing it upwards
There is an American DJ Europe. I'm not sure if they offer this light there yet. However, If I understand correctly, the ligtht has an automatic power converter from 110/220-240. Seems all you'll need is an adapter cable!
Very cool light! I'm ready to go to the Guitar Shop this coming Sat. to get a few new lights plus that mixing board. I will be retiring the disco ball. Besides when you came to that gig a few weeks ago someone stole one of my pin spots that I use for the ball. Guess that was a hint to get rid of it.
Great video, I have been going back and forth between getting the Revo3 vs Vue3. The increased brightness, white "pearl" light, and extra features are definite selling points that I might have overlooked if it wasn't for your video.
Cool light, but similar in many ways to the Vue III, huh? If I had I choice I'd pick this one though. It looks better than the Vue III in standalone mode.
What about the pricing of the Revo III compared to the Vue III?
(BTW, I see that you're wearing the shirt Johnathan sent you!)
I've only seen it with my Cigarette smoke.. HA! Seriously, the beams really show off nicely with smoke. The changes are so smooth that it looks like there's a moving head involved.

Most of that light leakage isn't visable. For some reason it really showed up on my video.
briansredd 4 years ago
Well you got it. Thay seen to be about te same apart from the watts. Do you one is better then the other or about the same.
discodjking 4 years ago
This one is easier to use for sure and looks a lot brighter than the other.

If you make this shine in the sky when it's cloudy , people will call the police to say there are ufo's in the sky :)
Very nice light , I want this too :)

great vid on this light Bri...one question...where do you set this up at a gig? Floor pointing up to ceiling? I watched your vid in the "domes", but didn't see where you set up your other light. Thanks again Bri...awesome vids!
dencan7 4 years ago
You'll see in the next gig video. An effect like this just needs to be pointed upwards. Anything around table height should be fine. Many people do point these downwards. I'm just taking the advice of other Youtubers pointing it upwards

this light is fantastic can you get there in the uk
djsellman123 4 years ago
There is an American DJ Europe. I'm not sure if they offer this light there yet. However, If I understand correctly, the ligtht has an automatic power converter from 110/220-240. Seems all you'll need is an adapter cable!

And I thought the view was a better light!

Very cool light! I'm ready to go to the Guitar Shop this coming Sat. to get a few new lights plus that mixing board. I will be retiring the disco ball. Besides when you came to that gig a few weeks ago someone stole one of my pin spots that I use for the ball. Guess that was a hint to get rid of it.
waveydaveyb 4 years ago
Well Dave, you did have (a) big Discoball(s). Time to neuter you!

American DJ gear is now officially available in the UK. The web site is americandjeurope dot com.

(BTW, I see that you're wearing the shirt Johnathan sent you!)
lcc0612 4 years ago
The pricing should be about the same.

What does this light look like when you introduce smoke to the mix?
mattfogz 4 years ago
I've only seen it with my Cigarette smoke.. HA! Seriously, the beams really show off nicely with smoke. The changes are so smooth that it looks like there's a moving head involved.
briansredd 4 years ago
Thanks for getting back to me. I'm definitely looking at converting to LED. Have a dance party i'm djing in December
