Manhunter...a sad and terrifying film...the story of an unloved and abused child raised to become a serial killer...a serial killer we see finally obtain love from a blind woman that brings it far too late in his life to benefit him except for a few hours in one night, but a night that will reduce a serial killer to tears as this music plays. Well told Mr. Mann..well told indeed!

Yeppers, very cool song.; Really good soundtrack. I bought the cassette in the 80s and my dog ate it in the 90s. Bummer. I have been trying to find it but can't. From what I gather from reading it is no longer being manufactured. Probably due to downloads online. I even looked for used ones at Amazon etc... They have them listed but are always out.

michael mann is the last word in filmaking-he leaves nothing to chance assembling a series of tracks with alnost completely different styles:coelocanth,heartbeat,le­eds house racing along suspending you above the world and making you believe in the desperation of the characters. how can you compare any other serial killer film without thinking the others are pure sensationalism. he had the right musician randy edelman for his equally great film last of the mohicans. sorry I'll shut up and go

this is the best ever soundtrack. I remember buying the last copy at hmv london centuries ago. the lad at the counter knew how much of a cult had grown around the film and music. there is absolutely no other expression for the emotions of love than this track(not surprised someone has created their sign in round the title-wish i'd thought of it!). i still remember that I couldn't get over the love scene with the blind girl and the killer-felt as if I was travelling to another planet and time

Noonan's character so well played, this song plays while he's in bed with the blind woman. So much emotion there in Dollarhyde's. "My heart bleeds for him as a child" would say Petersen's character at some point.

It is the original Manhunter/Red Dragon, in my book one of the ten best fiction/Thrillers EVER made, the soundtrack also is by far one of best, not wierd since it is a Manfred Mann movie.

The sccene with the Tiger is worth the whole movie, and Dolarhyde is one of the best and most scary Villians ever portrayed, not least since he is in his own way so utterly beleivable.

By the way, little known fact, This movie was the orignal inspiration for the CSI series.

@Gabriella292u I too thought the Dolarhyde character to be realistic. He killed because he was unloved, as he was born with physical deformitys.His first love was Reba, a blind woman. He had killed before but felt remorse after being with Reba. When he felt betrayed by Reba he returned to killing. This film was the best of its kind, the remake miss all the key points and forget about the sequels. The film can be understood from either the killer's or the cop's point of view, which makes it great

@NorseCreation They did. The actor who played Dolarhyde (Tom Noonan) was a Stage Magician named Zephyr. He was arrested for murder and it was very cool to see Grissom's interaction with him. The episode was "Abra Cadaver" in 2002.

The Oil and Gold album was underappreciated , a masterpiece of production, Hans Zimmer did an incredible job. Remember when they used this tune is the original Manhunter movie. Loved the album art and how they cryptically altered the lyrics inside.
