I saw Brian, Roger and Paul at the Nelson Mandela-celebration 2008. In my opinion I've not seen Queen, I've seen 50% of Queen. To me Queen IS Brian, Roger, Freddie and John :-)
what a fucking great interviewer, he really looks like he cares about their opinions and he actually, wait for it ... LISTENS to his interviewees. unlike most who just look like they are thinking about the next question, he seems really to know his stuff. They deserve it after the shit interviews they've had to sit through in their time.
Brian May, in addition to using his home-made guitar that he put together himself when he was 16, he prefers to use coins (especially a sixpence from), instead of a more traditional plastic picks, on the basis that their rigidity gives him more control in playing. He is known to carry coins in his pockets specifically for this purpose.
At the beginning he isn't just naming band members. He says that "Brian, Freddie and Roger formed the group". I'm pretty sure he left out John Deacon because he joined after the band had been formed and named. That said, I do think it was a bit tactless not to mention John at all.
freddie said in an interview that once one of them dies queen would be finished there would be no more queen so i do think its a disgrace that brian and roger and continuing the name queen least john did the right thing and step down.
Wow, not mentioning James Deacon in the intro is so effing rude... He had his differences with May and Roger, but to literally write him off of Queen's history is totally unfair...
John wrote himself off. He's still on the payrolls and reaps all the benefits of having been part of Queen while it's Roger and Brian out there keep the Queen legacy alive.
Well, George didn't hit on a few important points like the fact that Brian May completed his Phd. in astrophysics and that he and his father constructed his guitar from scratch before Queen ever became famous! I just thought those were a few points he could have touched on during the interview! Ya! Fred's dead but a mother of a singer and we'll miss him notwithstanding!
George is an incredible interviewer, seriously, watch his other interviews. I've seen so many people do them and there's just nothing like his. He knows a LOT about every topic he covers during the interview and actually interacts and.. I'll stop ranting but, he's really good.
John Deacon was the MAIN Queen bassist, after Freddie Mercury Queen ceased to exist.
Some of the songs written by John Deacon are: Another One Bites the Dust, I Want To Break Free,You're My Best Friend, Friends Will Be Friends (with Freddie)
@MartynTheSpartyn He was a part of the original band. But he's not a part of the "Queen + Paul Rogers"... or even when May and Taylor played with Robbie Williams, which Deacon wasn't happy about.
@simonwedege A lot of this interview wasnt just about Queen + Paul Rogers, and they couldnt simply mention his name in the beginning? I honestly dont think it would have been that hard to do.

Brian May, ladies and gents: one of the greatest guitarists in rock history, (and a astrophycist and head of a university!)

So, apparently John was not part of Queen, since he didn't deserve to have his name mentioned. :( He deserves more than that, I think. :P

That's what I meant. I just said previous because now Danny Miranda is taking over bass duities for the Queen+Paul Rodgers tour.
joelypoley508508 3 years ago
Well, I wouldn't necessarily say that the band ceased to exist, because Freddie wasn't the only member.
Nice to see Brian and Roger keeping the name QUEEN alive! Queen is my band and I'll remain a supporter forever!
LOL, where is that time machine!? I'm only 19, I need to see these guys LIVE in PERSON!

@amortussique Relax. Deacon retired in 1997 and didn't even show up at the Hall of Fame induction in 2001.
