ells is tasty ,but litle bit fat,best time to catch in europe is betwen 23 to 03 morning ,you can use litle fish,shrimp,and worms to bait you can use big line 0.25-0.30 they are not sensitive,best they are smoked its just delicius...

Most people will tell you night time because they get active and search for food. My preference is day time. Eels will come to a bait whether it be night or day. As long as the bait appeals - I use tuna because of the oil it leeches out - eels will come to it.

Try any oily fish or animal intestines, or fermenting meat. Basically anything that reeks of odious smell.
