You put too much thought on women. In reality they really are less than shallow, plain and planar. It's the most peculiar thing - people's ability to give life to things that aren't that lively or completely lifeless and cold. For example: over exaggeration of a story they tell; putting a bigger price on an item that costs much less, like something sentimental; case with females - fooling yourself into thinking they are something more than just mere animals, like males minus dick and brains.
Thanks for the great poem, I particularly enjoyed the line "With your cutting charisma and streetsmart IQ, you're more intoxicating that any...other...muse." It's a great observation on how sexy a woman is who can laugh without being self conscious. You definantly capture the tone of a conversation in your poem which is really great to hear!
@TheCraigburch Thanks for the comment. I probably rewrote this more than any other poem I've done. You should see the early drafts--totally different! :P
@ShiekUrBooty I average about 3 to 6 dislikes per poem. When I go on about religion I tend to get more dislikes... the most recent one has 77 likes and 7 dislikes... I'm not sure who you mean when you say "the brat" --although the first person I thought of was Janeczka... :P
I met a person like this once while I was on R&R from Vietnam. What a package, tiny hands, perfect legs, and a beautiful face with a coat olive colored skin that was stretched tight across a skeleton that was so small I could wrap myself around it and rush off the nearest rainbow. I'm sure we embarrassed the taxi driver with one deep throat kiss after another. Finally in the room it was I who was embarrassed, my rainbow girl had a small penis, but with a few more kisses, I got it to grow.
It is hard to shelve exes. But then we write poems about them. Good to see you're still writing and performing. had a new little cam corder for Christmas. So may have another dip myself.
@0lympia2008 Thanks for the comment. Actually, this poem was based on a conversation I had with someone and it grew into something else. There are a couple people I thought of when I was writing it, but its not based on any one single person. Although... sometimes I write things about something specific and then months later look at it and realize I was really writing about something else... if that makes any sense... peace :)
This is DRC in prime form, my good friend; ever a study in the short form tragic irony, your imagery always rich, your delivery wonderfully droll and emphatically contrapuntal, and your particular bent twice more twisted than those thrice your tribulations. Another of yours for my favorites.
@Poemsapennyeach Oh... well, these are just poems... not pages from my journals... I try to write about what is (hopefully) interesting rather than indulging in naval gazing. My favorite works of art usually deal with some sort of conflict... I find usually (not always) that having conflict in poems makes them more fun to write... it's rarely about a real event but more about elaborating on a real feeling...
Stellar performance, especially the phrasing-pace of the words "any" and "other" and "muse"... chillingly good. Love the "Jesus H. Christ on a stick..."
You da man. Kudos, my friend. (Been teaching in Iowa, busy as can be--but I put up a couple today.)
Bloody hell David, you weren't wrong when you said you had lost weight, you look fantastic. You look brighter, your hair is thicker, your shoulders are more relaxed. This new work is an amazing great way to return to form. I really really enjoyed this! Stay safe, Rob AKA VisionGhost :)
I am totally objectifying you, as usual too, here. Wow, Mister, you look great! I'm reminded of that artwork you showed me of you and a woman in the horizontal position.
@myblisslikethis *sigh* ...still a shameless flirt! I'm trying to remember if the text I sent you is the same one as I did here... anyhoo... good to see you back on the tube :P
@myblisslikethis A thousand apologies! What I MEANT to type was, "Trained professional flirt!" :p -- *thanks again for taking the time to comment :) *
I dig the reading and also, strangely enough, the five-o'clock shadow. But don't let it go to your head: you're twice as dorky as men half your age... :p
@TheIntoxikie Thanks man. I've lived in a lot of small towns where being "arty" is kinda a handicap. I've actually had people say things to me like, "David, I think yer kinda arty. But I like you anyway." -----------peace! :P
This poem's plot is riveting and each line so concisely crafted. Call me impressed, yet again. Featured! (mostly because you look good in the five o'clock shadow :P)
@tinySpectacle Thank you. And I'm sorry for all the times I called you a brat. But... I'm still mad at you for taking some of your poems off your page. Perhaps god can forgive you for that--but I can't! :P ....oh I kid! Dang, I see your latest is getting a LOT of views! Go Lo!!! :)
Y'know even when I know this is a poem you've worked on for hours and days and days, I have to say, it's not one of my favourites of yours. Some of it I really liked, but the ending gets me. But that's just my opinion though. My opinion may change. I'm completely fallible and hypocritical.
@EllyMcCormack Well, if I ever tell you I'm happy with what I'm doing on skype then just shoot me. Anything I done, I look at it and all I see are bits I want to rewrite. I'll have to read you the original first couple verses to this--oh my god they make me wince now thinking about them! :P
@Elenkhos Thank you. The secret to the "look" is the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club little black button I am wearing that Janeczka sent me. She said it draws attention away from my man boobs! :P
Very funny and full of bone dry humor. Sharing on fb as well.
