  • hey nedrush liking the tutorials. Quick question for this one. Is it your own amen break or a 1 bar loop from a sample pack? I have my own version of the amen break (4 bars) and splitting it into 8th and loading into nn19 does not give the desired effect, any info would be grand. thanks.

  • @bigbagboo message your email and i'll send you the rex file(s).

  • @MrNedRush I dont have recycle either, you think you can help me out?

  • That was seriously fantastic ... "in an improv stylee"! \(^_^)/

  • I cant do this if i have no keyboard? or its good to use a pc keyboard? :S

  • @technicalcore if you have record or reason 5 you can use your computer keyboard. otherwise i recommend the korg nano key. v cheap.

  • And then what did you mean when you said "thats actually 2 notes 2 rythms".. what are you referring to?

I dont understand.. I used recycle and chopped a breakbeat into 8 slices, saved as rex, then loaded the rex file into the nn-19.. now what? Im confused..

  • @LiquidChem what i mean by 8th notes is measures. rather than slicing it into hits like recycle does via peak detection. you slice it into parts, so a one bar loop you would slice 8 times. this is how they used to do it on the old jungle tunes. this video is pre reason 5, so this is easier to do with a regular rex loop in Kong using the 'chunk trig' function. you dont need recycle to slice the samples tho, you can use any audio editor. hope this helps.

  • @LiquidChem if you have sliced a one bar loop into 8 slices as you say then it should work, you now need to set he arpegiator to trigger at 8th notes. its all explained in the video.

  • HI, I know this is an older video, but I have never heard of this method.. Im having some trouble understanding exactly what you did in the beginning.. What exactly did you mean when you said you cut the sample into "8th notes" ? Do you mean you put the markers in recycle so there are 8 slices?

  • Quality vid mate, i think i might have a try at that, i do somethin similar by using the nnxt have an amen breaks individual rex hits spanned across the key zones, but chop it all up using midi editing, this is ace for live performance tho so will def try it:)

  • Great vid, I cant get just singular hits to repeat though. I have single note repeat on but its still not doin it. 2-8 hits works great though. Any ideas?

  • @MovingTargetOne Gate Length must not be set to tie.

  • Awesome tutorial !!! Is this reason file and the .rex file downloadable ?

  • but yeah... hardcore jungle IS massive

  • If you cant find an amen break online you must be a freakin moron. GOOGLE

  • If you cant find an amen break online you must be a freakin moron. GOOGLE

  • the timestretch snare would be a good intro

  • Great tutorial. Thanks :)

  • yes yes yes!!!

  • i dont use recycle so how do i load up the chopped samples all into the nn19 wavs ??

i can only add one chopped section of the amen!! annoying, coz i wanna get on this!

    pls help :P

  • use nnxt and add samples

  • @DJDARKSTEPZ Don't use a NN19, use a NN-XT.

  • i er dunno if you know...:P BUT ITS AN NN-19 DICK EYES. Love the video, its really improved my performance having the hold function for live glitch breaking

  • Yeah omg i just creamed in my pants. Wiked thanks Reason 4 ftw

  • freaky dude/nice vid

  • Great Video, but where can you get the breakbeat sample?

  • AWSOME thanks mr red nush

  • Nuff respects for your help man....

I'd like to hear a finished track if there was one..

    Thanks again

  • yeah i forgot to disable the key track, but adjust the pitch of the individual samples manually. will this effect it in any way??

  • if your trying to adjust the pitch of the samples to match them to a tempo because there are cut into 8th notes then i would do it on the nn-19 using the semi and octave controls in the osc section. doing individual samples shouldn't be a problem.

  • wicked video Ned...

when i tried this my appegiator plays the noteds in the wrong octave for some reason. please help me??

  • make sure you have disabled the keyboard tracking button on the nn-19, it resides just about the amp envelope, this disables pitching and play all your samples at there original pitch, also, check that the root note of the samples is at the pitch you want, maybe when you loaded your samples to a root note that isnt suitable. these things i have mentioned are problems that maybe rise if your are using samples rather than rex files. hope this is of some help. cheers for getting in touch.
