when i was in grade 6 (back in 1976/77) my friends and i went to see The Ice Capades..I was a fan of Karen Magnussen's & she was the star of show.. my friends and I waited behind the stage for her to come out , we got to see her but she totally DISSED us..I AM STILL NOT OVER IT..lol...
@rhymeandreasoning I had a similar experience with Wendy Burge, but I am sure it is not easy dealing with the public. There is always one more, who loves you. Perhaps she was distracted by something......I would take the high road, and continue loving Karen. (She was a good ole girl!!) best wishes
The commentary is so important to skating history . . . UNCLE DICK EXPLAINS HOW TRIXIE WAS ABLE TO BUILD SUCH A BIG LEAD OVER KAREN AND JANET THAT THEY COULD NOT CATCH UP ALTHOUGH THE FREESKATE WAS 50% OF THE SCORE AND TRIXIE WAS NOT A STRONG FREESKATER.
Glad you found it.....there is a lot of info packed into these tapes. I am not sure DIck knew he was writing the history of skating.....It was such a painful time for North American skaters.....Perhaps splitting the sports would have been a better idea. We don't seem to have found a satisfying structure yet.....some 40 years later.! oh well......time marches on........best wishes
Isn't this the most incredible video montage you have ever seen!!!!!! My focus wheel squeaks, and then I throw down a page as an edit.......i will probably win an award for this.........
For those who don't know, Karen is "log rolling'...it's something Canadians do when the ice melts........best wishes

Janet would have won but she fell twice in the short. They say they introduced the short program and it was called " the janet rule ".
