I know because my father wrote this song. That line: When I'm with you- I hear a song that makes me laugh and smile and sing to you" - My daddy used to say that I asked so many questions all jumbled up together that it sound like I was singing.

I interviewed Tony back in the days. He told me that this song almost didn't make the cut. His label was apprehensive about putting it out. Said it was too "lovey dovey" (no pun intended). Tony was told that nobody could pull this type of song off except for Stevie Wonder. Well, now we know better. Far as I know, this was Tony's biggest hit. And if I may add an off topic comment: Tony is a well mannered, respectful CHRISTian guy who loves God and loves people. Wish we had more artists like him.

@preo2 I agree 100%! The label heads too often get into the business of putting out "fad" songs that get a lot of radio play and make quick money. But the love for the song doesn't last. If you get a chance to check out the billboard charts for the 80s and 90s, here's one thing I noticed: The top 5 or so songs for any given year are songs that were great at the time, but you don't really care to hear them anymore. But look a little further down the list and there's the classics you still love.
