My dad has this album - so ive heard it a thousand times since i was little, but I dont have it on cd, so many thanks for posting - please post some more tracks!
Late on drug addled evening, long after the rest of me had fallen asleep, I was absently watching television, a flick with Mick Jagger came on- I was unsure if I had dreamed it, but really dug the soundtrack, thanks for posting,
@teddie488 yep, after all these years. i dont know what the story is but i always thought his body was buried in the grave yard of the melbourne prison and his head was missing but looks like the whole thing was missing till now though his skull is still missing
@teddie488 they might have always had his bones but werent sure they were actually his but thanks to finding a direct decendant and doing some DNA testing they finally know for sure, though i think his skull is still missing
Great song and great movie but the two together...I'm not sure. Ian Jones co-wrote the Mick Jagger version and a decade later made the mini-series 'The Last Outlaw', the most historically accurate Kelly depiction to date. Unfortunately, the 2003 version is pure Hollywood. It was so bastardized all for the sake of a quick buck that it's historical value is worthless.
Here are all the songs on the album. 1. Ned Kelly - Waylon Jennings 2. Wild Colonial Boy - Mick Jagger 3. Son of a Scoundrel - Waylon 4. Shadow of the Gallows - Waylon 5. Lonigan's Widow - Waylon 6. Stoney Cold Ground - Kris Kristofferson 7. Kelly's Keep Comin' - Kris 8. Ranchin' in the Evening - Waylon 9. Blame It on the Kellys - Waylon Jennings Listen 10. Pleasures of a Sunday Afternoon - Waylon 11. Hey Ned - Tom Ghent, Waylon
Teeger your near the top of every Waylon List i have, even the list of things i might have missed list .... hell better untwist my tongue now.. God bless you teeger
Besides ol Waylon, I get a kick out of the diggeriedo (forgive the spelling--am not an Aussie) in Blame It On The Kellys. I hunted high and low for the Ned Kelly video with Waylon singing the background music and finally found it.
@sandladyvb - ah, 'didgeridoo' in fact but not a bad effort. But I have listened to Blame It On The Kelly's three times and haven't heard a didgeridoo once. What you may confusing with a didgeridoo is the rythmic 'woop woop' sound in the background. It is a 'wobble board' an 'insturment' invented Rolf Harirs (another aussie). If you search youtube for Rolf Harris Stairway to Heaven you will see Rolf playing both a wobble board and a didgeridoo. the didgeridoo is the long hollow log.
This is brilliant.Great video to go with two great songs and I love the whistling.Nice to see Johnny there too.I loved it.Thanks for this.Waylon had such a great voice.

@thomas242007
There was another one made with John Jarret, goes into a it a bit deeper.
Between Mick's and John's, I think that they pretty well got the story right.
