@rickjamesia Did you ever try a lens cleaning disc on your ps2? MY ps2 stopped reading ps1 and blue bottom discs also and after i used a lens cleaning disc it worked fine since, might wanna try that out.

@rickjamesia atomic roms man; you will have to experiment which PS1 emulator will work best for you, and remember, starting from the era of 3D gaming, all emulators require a bios file to help with data conversion issues. The Chrono Cross ROM is flawless; its identical graphics wise to the original.

This brings back such great memories! This was a VASTLY underrated game. It deserves to be mentioned alongside FF7, Xenogears, and Metal Gear Solid. I don't think this sequel to Chrono Trigger got the respect it deserved! It was an all around great game!

nice to know that great minds think alike! i did play Chrono trigger on the pc (i think 5 years ago) and got even more into the series, now i know what all of the references in chrono cross was about. (like the history of Lavos and why it was summoned to discovering that Flea of the mystic knights was a transvestite) HAHAHA good times! and yes i did finish Valkyrie (if you mean Lenneth ps1 and Silmeria ps2 then yes) and Valkyria Chronicles ps3.

Star ocean 2 was my first ps1 game that introduced me to RPGs and then i bought Chrono cross it had me hooked ever since which led me to buy FF7 making me a fan of Squaresoft. the ps2 era gave me more rpgs that i could imagine. then the "next gen" came along where i couldn't find a rpg that came even close to the standards this game set. and had to change my tastes to FPSs and now almost all of my game collection for the ps3 involve a gun in it, my only TRUE rpg (to me) was Valkyrie chronicles

I remember reading a long time ago in EGM that they played this game on a PS2 (back when it was brand new) with a graphics upgrade (or something) and the quality was no that much different than on a PS1. In fact, the game was a half a point from earning EGM's Platinum award (an EGM first at the time), showing what a rare gem it is :D

all those games came out in the 1997 - 2002 time frame. in terms of sheer numbers of quality titles, not the same as the 16 bit era but what few good titles that did come out were memorable.

sorry, never owned a Saturn. But I have heard that Panzer Dragoon was pure awesomeness; probably couldn't get into it now, its too bad its going to become a "forgotten title." Unless Sega remakes it for the the 360 and PS3 that is; like Shenmue, it seemed like a game ahead of its time. Plus it might help erase that Drakenkard disaster, or that PS3 dragon game that was supposed to be good, but wasn't. Sad, but that time is gone for games.

even though personally I think the best overrall era of video games was probably the 16 bit era, I think the greatest games ever made so far, came out between 1997 and 2002; during those 5 years, games came out that completely changed how everything else was made, and current gen consoles are trying, and failing miserably in some cases, to try to live up to the late 90's and early this decade. Sad, but you can't go home again.....

Actually you can get glen at the begining.

The key is to get the bellflower to glen and ridel but before catching up with greco and telling him they acted as the exorcists with the skull thing. greco appears olnly if you beat the dodo bird with mothership on new game+.

I love how things like the character quotes and the bats at Viper Manor were never actually in the game play, and that this in-game footage is original all to itself. The Chrono series really is amazing in many ways!
