Because of the litigious nature of parents, school employees have no power to properly discipline students. They can't yell at them, touch them, hurt their feelings, etc. So they are force to use these assinine alternative discipline measures.

As a teacher of 17 years, I feel for the young lady in this video. But think about this:. She sprays the perfum. Students that are nearby start complaining about the smell by getting up out of their seats, making rude comments, and disrupting the class. The teacher reprimands all of those students,Then they go home and complain to their parents about how they were "unfairly" singled out because someone sprayed perfume which made them so uncomfortable that they couldn't concentrate on their work.

No, the video explains exactly what happened. She had always been bullied in school. The bullies said she smelled bad, so she put on some perfume. They then said she smelled bad from the perfume. The police were called, and she was cited for a misdemeanor of disturbing the peace or some such outrage.
This is terrible! I can understand the need to take drastic actions if violent crimes are a problem in the schools, but I don't think this girl did anything to warrant such a punishment.
It's time for a non-violent revolution...we much bring about a new government and a new justice system---America is a Police State...
