One of the best parts in the Antholoy, when George says how they sold all that corderoy and made it swing....and all they gave us is a grubby (paraphasing) old medal. LOL!
LOL Paul, casually steering a tug-boat as he gives an interview through the port hole. What a pretentious clod! In the end, the Beatles were about John Lennon. With him gone, none of these guys opinions matter very much. Especially Yoko Ono. Ugh!
@thegrinchl7 Um, I don't know about that. Paul had more talent. He could write something like Yesterday then turn around and write Helter Skelter which is heavier then anything Black Sabbath ever did IMO. He may have been asked to drive the boat just to give the movie some variety.
@thegrinchl7 Your statements about Paul and John are inconsistent given that you're praising John's presence in the band in the past while criticizing Paul in the present long after the band has disbanded. Paul wrote most of the band's hits and is the most covered songwriter out of the four. Without him there'd be no Hey Jude, Let It be, Yesterday, Long and Winding Road, etc... Even John became insecure about his songwriting at one point b/c he felt he was being outdone by Paul.
@jp3813 Paul was the most polished songwriter during the Beatles period, but 90-95% of his post-Beatles stuff was rubbish, he seemed to lose somethig from 1970 on which was a bit surprising. I trawled through his 1970s catalogue with Wings and solo the other day. It's painfully bad, (Jet and Coming Up were OK). Lennon's 70s stuff was more sparse but better - particularly Imagine (of course), Jealous Guy and Instant Karma.
@robertfoy100 I actually pointed that out in another video b/c I did the same thing as you did w/ their solo stuff. But in this particular comment, I was talking about Paul's importance in the group.
01: 10 -- thís mr. nobody´s impertinence is incredible -- "if i HAD the MBE, i would be put off by being on THE SAME LEVEL AS A POP SINGER" -- what a ridiculous little dick-receiver
@MoveOverCasanova You have to remember things were much different then today. Back then, Pop singers were indeed seen on a lower level by the 'older generation' - especially in the UK.
After all we did for Great Britain, selling all that corduroy, and making it swing, and they just gave us that bloody old leather medal with wooden string through it.
At 0:53 the old guy is of the opinion it debases the order. Maybe he's right as it turns out, if you go by the media coverage for this award compared to today. They give the MBE to prominent snooker players these days. It is still a respected honour I guess, but it's really only important to the people who receive it.
I wonder what that old guy would think of Sir Michael Philip Jagger?
note that the last song of this video (if you've got trouble) never made it on any record, deemed not worthy of the beatles standards. naturally, this is a demo, and it's quite interesting to hear it at last.
Shea Stadium. Words fail. Maniacal adolescent female hysteria. This is the same generation of girls who went on to become the hysterical feminist maniacs.
I wasn't around in 1965 but I shouldn't think most people gave a monkeys either way about the MBEs, Paul.

@TopherBlairMusic - Paul is now like some eccentric
Duke or Earl, out of touch with the common man. He
might be aware of this since he appears to be doing
his "average bloke" nice guy routine more often. He
often appears foolish and we're left puzzled, watching
what he's DOES rather than listening to what he says.
Beatle historians find him unreliable...he embellishes
or has forgotten. From his declining musical ability to
his one-legged-wife, Paul is a shadow of his former
Beatle self.

eric clapton, roger daltrey, david gilmour, elton john, even ray davies are CME, commanders of the british empire, which is two ranks higher --
the queen must really have hated them for a specific reason,
even kylie minogue and olivia newton john are higher in "royal order hierarchy" than the beatles !!
