Sounds like 60/70s country rock mixed with Kiss! I have been looking for Shrapnel songs for a while just to hear how they sounded, I am a pretty big fan of Dave so I wanted to hear how he sang before MM!
@jonathanpaley Hey Dude! Are you and your bro still playing. You guys were great. There is a photo on the web of you, Wyndorf, Rey and Joey Ramone at one of these sessions. I used to get into CBGBs when I was 15 to watch and hear Shrapnel. They were so good and I thought they had so much potential. I spoke with Danny Rey about 10 years ago about some live recordings from CBs he has but he said was gonna sit on them just in case their was something that could come of them.
Dude, I have this 45 (backed with Hey) and the other 45 with Go Cruisin and Way Out World. My buddies and I used to hang with them at CBGBs when they would play. If they had had the chance to record the material that they played at CBs, I think Shrapnel would have taken off. Great energy on stage, great musicians, great frontman. It was a damn treat to watch them play.
This is Red Banks finest from 1976-1982 Shrapnel originally known as Hard Attack. Covering early UFO ,Montrose ,Sir Lord Baltimore,Black Sabbath,Dust,MC5 & Hawkwind classics~before kickin it with Combat Love and the likes of 'Get The World & Heathin Scum. Wyndorf had a vision ,while dressed in total Army fatigues, machine guns and all~ Daniel Rey (Rabinowitz) on guitar with Phil Caivano on bass and Dan Clayton bangin the skins as well as our late friend Dave Voght on guitars.great memories!Figz
I remember Shrapnel well, playing the Fast Lane in Asbury Park. I loved this band. Still wish they had left behind a recording of "I Lost My Baby on the Siegrfried Line."
Fuck YEAH!
