Yes, it's not a traditional 5-string banjo, but just like a tenor banjo with 4 strings, or a plectrum banjo with 4-strings, it is never the less a valid banjo. We call it a 6-string banjo, but you can call it a ganjo, a bantar, a gitjo....there are many names for it. The music Keith makes on it is wonderful and we are pleased that the 6-string banjos have become such a popular instrument with many of the top artists today. Thanks for posting this great clip!

@KUiscaliente he said he can play it. but back when he was recording the ranch, he couldn't wrap his head around the 5th string being on top, and that he couldn't express what he was trying to do because he has a guitar players mentality. he found a 6-string in a guitar shop and took it to the record. loved it ever since.

They also go under the name of Banjitar and Guit-Jo. Epiphone and Dean I believe make Ganjo's.

@KUiscaliente they're nothing like eachother. one letter difference means nothing. a banjo has 4 strings and tuned completely different
