Outstanding!! Its like a doors mix.. with a strange rythmical variation. Something between break on through n light my fire.. and the "largo" its very close to asturias legenda largo
The left hand part is really repetitive, but I really appreciate the melody, skill, and mood displayed here. It's certainly outside my comfort zone, but hey, not bad at all!
Elisabeth Chojnacka is the greatest performer for the harpsichord in our century she is the inspiration for the composers and a living legeng for us thank. you Elisabeth!!!!!
I'm not getting any vibe from this. The beat sounds like a broken record, and the melody seems like it was taken from a different piece of music entirely. Somewhat disconcerting, and VERY distracting.
@Chibichimera That's the problem with you - music CONSUMERS. You don't ever bother to really LISTEN to the music, just leave it in the background to make noise. As far as you're concerned, it could be mice fucking in the background.
Most of NON-popmusic compositions actually require your ATTENTION, so saying this piece is "very distracting" (lol) just shows you don't actually know HOW to listen to music. What a pity.
@pepijagarzekje you admit yourself that this man's compositions are to be really listened to, and as such I must say that my observations were superficial.
However, it appears you've made an assumption of my character and experiences based on one comment regarding one piece of music. I'll draw no conclusions from that, as I've only seen one comment of yours.
I suppose I'll give the reference reinpost has pointed me towards some listening.
It's somewhat funny how modern composers have rediscovered this age - old instrument due to its excentic sound. This piece has a very strong drivining force, very nice...
Ligeti is groovy'.

come on.. no need to be that fast, we can not hear the exact rhytmes and notes, we "have to" hear because of the nature of this music..

This would make a fairly solid mathrock tune.
Ligeti = the man.

slightly unusual sound for a harpsichord. i'd be interested in knowing the specific kind used.

Try listening to some Keith Emerson for reference.

Oh and that "melody" is no doubt Bach's Chromatic Fantasy, indeed a difference of about 250 years.

Ligeti says of this piece that it's only pastiche....well,I don't care-I think it's one of his most characteristic works. My favourite piece by him.
