I bought Hope Is Important with a voucher I won at a part time call centre job after hearing this song on Steve Lamacq's evenin session when I was 15 and my life changed! I'm 26 now :( The follow up 100 Broken Windows is by far the best album I own, inspirational. Shame they have changed so much but long live the wild!
lol, just on here because a mate posted roseability on facebook,, my comment mirrors yours "100 broken windows is easily their best, unless their new ones any good?" Thanks for answering that , at least they remain consistently good, sad that their energy and hooks have disipated. Interpol are another band that couldnt repeat perfection (turn on the bright lights)
Still, to this day, Scotlands finest secret ......The finest gig I have ever seen was Roddie and the boys, Teenage Fanclub and the Pixies at Meadowbank Stadium .....
I think James and Alex did the later 'Hope' singles and most of 100 Broken Windows's. Can't remember to whom the earliest ones were accredited to though (fragile etc). Think James and Alex were the best at doing Idlewild videos, as there's a complete irrelevance to them, which suits the music.
Hi katgem, i don't suppose you know who directed the early idlewild videos? I always remember they were credited by 'James and Alex', I've done research since to find out more but can't. I also vaguely remember a james and alex credited on a super furries video, but i could be wrong. Thanks!
I love this song, but I think his vocie was very annoying when the band was first starting out. When he sings it now it sounds 5304982 times better. Thanks for uploading all of these idlewild music vids :)
Looooooooooveeeeeee this so much!

@PunksOfNature it's totally wonderful isn't it? Probably my favourite single ever. You don't get alternative music like this now.

the first 2 idlewild albums are not only wildly underrated, but also wildly unfuckwithable.

Hope is important is one of my favourite albums of all time. Sharing the top 2 with Silverchair's "Diorama"

my mate Pete used to say "when I argue I see the shape of Bruce Forsyth!"
you know when Bruce was on the Generation Game and he would do that profile siloette at the start of the show.

Yep,their earlier material was definitely more inspired! Lamacq`s still going strong too. Beats all the manufactured cr@p anyday!
